Staying overnight in Philly when you live in the city’s burbs is very fun. My sons and I enjoyed a great stay at the Guild House in December. Located perfectly to great restaurants, bars, and the theaters, the hotel is a perfect respite from ordinary accommodations you often find in big cities. The buildings history is fascinating. We stayed in the Alice Suite; allowing for plenty of space for to relax. The baths are deluxe, the kitchenette is well stocked and the bed was amazingly comfy. Hats off to those who brought back Guild House; another great chapter in Philly history rejuvenated.

Impeccably designed, cozy boutique hotel right in the middle of things. We came for a long weekend in Philly that was mostly focused on food & museums. This hotel was within walking distance of many spots we wanted to try. The rooms are beautiful, and communication was great via their “invisible service” model. They stocked the room with treats and coffee before our stay, including a chemex which we had on our preference list. I also loved the attention to detail, with many of the vendors featured being women-owned businesses (for example, the toiletries in the bathroom, or the copper cow with the coffee setup). LOVED IT.

Wow! Loved the Guild House, the ethos and history, the sensitivity in creating bespoke rooms to reflect the New Century Guild women patrons. Our suite Eliza was amazing, spacious, clean, decor as appropriate to one of the founders of the guild but with all the mod cons. Extremely comfortable bed meant excellent nights sleep. The invisible service takes a bit of getting used to but is great, the attentive bit is via text and ensuring all is good. Location is good - short walk to Liberty Hall etc, some nice eateries near by and parking (expensive but necessary-staff there extremely helpful) is next door. |I loved it here, felt right at home and very very comfortable.

This place might be the best kept secret in Philadelphia. It is the most beautiful hotel in the city, perfectly located and extremely reasonably priced considering how wonderful each room is. While each room is great, our favorites were the Eliza, the Edith, and the Ruby. The "invisible service" is perfect - there when by text you need them, out of sight when you don't. From now on, this will be the hotel I recommend to every friend visiting from out of town.

This hotel is unique with its invisible service but it is pretty well as good as a visible one, if anything less invasive. The hotel and rooms are amazingly authentic and original. We were wowed, so much preferring boutique chic to chain hotels. This ticked the box so well. Location is pretty good 10 minute walk to Independence Hall etc. Surrounding restaurants/bars are good choices. Parking is costly but what else would you expect in downtown city. The room, bathroom, facilities and attention to detail were 5*. Like stepping back in time. Understated and well throughout! Highly recommended!

This hotel is a true gem! The perfect blend of elegance, comfort, and impeccable service. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to create a stylish and relaxing atmosphere. From the luxurious rooms to the breathtaking decor, it’s an experience of pure sophistication. Can’t wait to return!

I’d happily give 5/5 stars just for the water pressure in the shower, but everything else was amazing too. Beautiful, clean, and comfortable rooms with a very chill communal lounge (I love the tap seltzer), all thoughtfully decorated and well appointed. The etched glass, swing-top bottles and tumblers were among the many nice touches, along with in-room Chemex and gooseneck electric kettle. The keyless entry and “invisible concierge” made the whole thing very intimate and seamless (when I needed extra amenities in the room, I texted and they arrived in minutes). Amazing neighborhood with awesome food, coffee, and drinks walkably close (and yet, still very quiet in the room at night).

Location is fantastic. Bed mattresses need to be rotated. Lights flickered in the bathroom and the curtains in room are horrible and let in a ton of light.

Yelp
This hotel was perfect in every way. We stayed in the Matilde room on the first floor for one night. This room is spacious and has a kitchenette. During my stay I did not see anyone else in the building at all, which is a bit strange, but I actually loved it. The "invisible service" was actually very diligent and good at keeping everything tidy. The entire place was super clean. Starting with the best things first: The bed gave me the most comfortable night's sleep I've ever had. And the shower and bathroom provided the best hotel shower I've ever had. Aside from that, my favorite things were the many special details. Some of those include the baked snacks left in our room (coffee cake & lemon coconut bar), the filtered and sparkling water available on tap in the lobby, the text message concierge, the extra towels in the bathroom (6), and the period authentic decor. When I booked our stay it wasn't super clear about what's included in the kitchenette. Ours had a very roomy mini fridge with wine rack, electric tea kettle, coffee maker, microwave, plates, bowls, glasses, utensils, mixing bowls, cutting board, and other things.

Yelp
Stepping through the front door of Guild House Hotel put us in another world...beautiful, calm, classic and steps away from the bustle of Locust St. in an absolutely perfect location in downtown Philadelphia for shopping, sightseeing, theater-going, excellent dining. I could wax poetic about this historical city but will stick to the Guild House. This very old building has been gently, carefully restored and updated then decorated with period furniture and antique decor when possible. The bed was the most comfortable one we have ever slept in. The spacious rooms simply invite you in. How many hotels provide delicate china tea cups? Special snacks? A choice of French press coffee or drip? All the amenities are from women-owned companies! Please treat yourself to a lovely, unusual hotel experience. On a more practical level..something we always want to know is, can you do all this without a car? Absolutely. Train from Philadelphia airport, public transportation or on foot to almost all the important sights. We are mid-70s to mid-80s years old.

Yelp
Small details matter when staying at a hotel and this place has thought of every small detail. We are staying in "The Alice" which is a 2 bedroom suite. It's the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed at. The little amenities they offer (don't have to pay more for them like other hotels) really puts the experience over the top. Coffee and tea. Every hotel has this. Not the same quality. Lemon cookies, granola bars, q-tips, dental floss, old timey radios, bathrobes made from the softest material and the bed is probably the best I've experienced anywhere. There's so many other little amenities and details to deliver a first class experience that I can't list it all here. We typically stay at Marriott but I'm glad we decided to try something different. If staying in Philadelphia and you like high end everything this is the place to stay!
