Met up with two friends on a Saturday afternoon and ran a game of Architects of the West Kingdom. We got there before 5 PM so plenty of tables were available and they are large enough for four player games (the biggest tables have slightly more space than four CCG mats, for reference). The vibe is great, with rock music playing on the speakers and the multiple displays showing gaming streams and classic anime. Drinks were also on point, as the gin & tonics and Moscow Mules were both delicious. Will definitely return.

Everything you heard and more. It’s a place for casual players, hardcore nerds and people who don’t game but their friends drag them here. They got board games and steams going on. Friendly staff and menus are updated with event drinks. ONLY COMPLAINT, is that the server played the horde… yuck! 😁

This place is really fun and the staff is very nice. The bartenders know what they are doing and the food tastes rather good for a local bar. It's fun to play board games while you sit and it's a fun place to meet people. My boyfriend and I really like coming here they always take really good care of us.

One of the few bars that doesn't overstimulate me, excellent food and drinks, and the staff is absolutely wonderful with allergies, and have been kind enough to change the show when the one playing put me at risk of a seizure. I can't recommend it enough.

The only local videogame themed bar. They have multiple big screens showing multiple videogame streamers. Mostly young people. Board games available for free. Outdoor seating now available, giving them over 50% more capacity.

Guildhall will always be my favorite place in the entirety of Uptown Whittier. I just started playing Magic the Gathering and hanging out with friendly players and good food on Tuesdays is a new highlight of my week. My favorite snack is the whiskey caramel popcorn, and mocktail is always whatever the monthly theme is! You should definitely check the menu to see what specials they have :)

I have found my new home. Such a glorious place. I hate watching regular sports. This place shows computer game championships, and they have every board game you can imagine available to play while you drink fantastic cocktails served by amazing and kind people. I can not wait to come back.

I really enjoyed spending a few hours at Guildhall! I met some friends for drinks and everything we had was so delicious and unique. (I had been here once before when they had a Splatoon themed menu). Our waitress was super nice and had good recommendations when we were stuck between one thing or another. She even replaced a friend's drink when she realized they weren't drinking it because it was too strong for them. The only food I sampled was their cheesecake but it was surprisingly really delicious! I thought from the description that it would be a basic cheesecake but the chocolate almond crust really added something special.

I've been meaning to post a review of this spot for a while, but haven't gotten to it until now. My husband and I have been here many times over the past few years, including with friends and family. We stopped by last night with a few of our friends and had a great experience as usual. Their themes change every month, and last night's theme was Nightmare Before Christmas (one of my personal favorites)! They also have a regular menu you can order from if you're not interested in the themed items. For our drinks we started off by ordering from the themed menu; a friend and I each had the What's This? What's This?, my husband tried the Butter Him Up!, and our other friend ordered the Zero Mocktail. We also had a few randomized dice shots (not pictured), and the last drink I ordered was the themed drink Wake Up Jack! We all enjoyed the themed drinks and thought they were delicious. Each drink had its own unique flavor profile that definitely embodied Christmas vibes. My friend especially enjoyed the Zero Mocktail and ended up ordering another one. For food; My husband and I ordered both the items they had on their themed menu. The first item was the Creamy Polenta Beef & Gourd Stew, which is a beef stew with butternut squash, zucchini, and onions served over creamy polenta. Our second item was dessert, the Cardomom Crème Brûlée, which was served with an orange zest shortbread cookie. Both items were very unique, delicious, and flavorful. We especially enjoyed the Creamy Polenta Beef & Gourd Stew. It tasted hearty, comforting, and wholesome. Our friends ordered some of their usuals, which were the Sweet Potato Tots (for the table) and a Veggie Wrap (with grilled chicken added) , which they enjoyed. The atmosphere of the bar gave off the usual fun and energetic vibes, which adds to the positive experience and puts you in a good mood. They have music playing at a comfortable listening level in the background (and it's different genres depending on the day you visit), along with TVs showing different games and movies streaming on each one. The interior is clean, cozy, and has a nice assortment of gaming character artwork and decor. They also have a section with a library of different board games to choose from if you want to play something while hanging out. You're also welcome to bring your own games if you wish. The staff here are always friendly, attentive, and have a good attitude. We've visited often over the years, so we're familiar with most of the staff when we come in. Sean was one of our servers last night, and he brought good vibes to the table. Our other server Melody was also great! She was very polite and helpful with menu recommendations. Both servers had our orders brought out quickly. We always have a great time here. Guild Hall is our go to bar and we love it. Everything about it is pretty much perfect for us! Definitely looking forward to our next visit!

This was absolutely a phenomenal place! If you're a lover of all things nerdy and a fan of amazing food - this is your place! The service was great, the place was a lot bigger than I had expected, and the food was so delicious. I went with a group of people so we were able to try a bunch of different things. I feel like they have a pretty vast menu so there's tons of different options and fun drink items, definitely something for everyone. I think they also have specialized menus depending on what sort of games are out, they did went we went. It was a Borderlands menu with fun items. There's also a ton of games in the front if you want to browse and if you find one you like you can just take it to your table to play. All in all, all the food was amazing. The truffle fries, the smoked brisket mac and cheese, the tacos, the bread, the drinks, it was all 1000/10! I highly recommend this place and I seriously can't wait to come back.

You push open the heavy wooden doors of Guildhall Tavern. A wave of cozy dim light washes over you, rich with the smell of meals worthy of a bard's ballad. The room is alive with chatter: to your left, a rogue challenges a wizard to a duel of Pokémon; to your right, two barbarians lock horns over a particularly cutthroat round of Catan. To your right, you spot two towering bookshelves, sagging under the weight of hundreds of board games. Roll a d20. On anything above a 5, you find a game worth playing with your party. On a natural 20? Congratulations, you just discovered the holy grail of obscure co-op strategy titles that no one else has heard of but everyone agrees is brilliant. The tavern's staff approaches--charismatic, friendly, and clearly proficient in both "food service" and "game recommendation." They guide you not only to a table, but to glory: suggesting specials that are always crit-worthy, and cocktails that could easily pass for enchanted potions. (Beware the strength of the ales, lest you fail your Constitution check.) The food? Better than any tavern rations you've ever encountered. In fact, calling it "bar food" would be like calling a +3 longsword "just a stick." Quest Log Update: You have discovered the perfect rest point in Whittier. Hit points restored. Morale maxed out. Party cohesion: critical success. Will you return? Let's just say the dice are heavily weighted toward "yes."

This bar nails the vibe with an awesome selection of craft cocktails, local brews, and a huge library of board games. Whether you're rolling dice or sipping something strong, it's the perfect hangout for laid-back fun with friends. Not to mention, this bar is away from the other bars so it makes it unique. It also stays open later than most. It also has great appetizers.

The server was nice ( female ) with baseball cap. It was our first time. It was different as we had reservations elsewhere in the area and it backfired so we just adjusted and found this. Started with wedge salad it was good and chicken popcorn orange flavor 4 out of 10 Won't try it again. Chicken sandwich and garlic fries good. We spent 75 on one drink , salad and sandwich fries snack chicken. Likely won't return. There are regulars. It's a game spot for couples or groups... it was cool just not my crowd!

Guild hall has a chill vibe. If you're looking for a GOOD cocktail Guildhall is the place. The cocktails are always on point. Always have a good time and the bar chefs always make you feel like you're at home. Definitely one of our favorite bars in Whittier.

I love this place. The ambiance is always so chill, the employees are all really nice and welcoming, good amount of seating. I like how they have special menus that get switched up often, with the option to try something new to eat or drink. My favorite drink is the penicillin, their chicken stripe are great and so is the beef sashimi. Didn't care for the whole Lotta chata beer it had a perfume flavor. But they have plenty other drink options worth trying.

Great place to hangout with friends. They have a plethora of board games to choose from. I like how they also are a full service bar and restaurant. It's the best of both worlds. It does get crowded so finding a table may be hard. They also open late which is a plus.

All in all not a bad spot at all to hang out. The grilled chicken sandwich ON POINT! The entire staff was very attentive even though the place never stopped getting people coming in and out. The place has board games a plenty for you and your group to play while you chill and eat. They have a lot of tvs playing different things like streamers or anime. Kinda loud but hey im old so I guess im the minority. Gove it a go if your in the Whittier area

This is a decent geek bar. The food is okay, the drinks are okay, nothing fancy but it's good enough. What really makes it stand out is the vibe. You can tell this place is made for people who love games, anime, and streaming. They got Twitch streams on the screens, game talk all around, and the crowd is friendly. It feels like a spot where you can just relax and be yourself. The service can be hit or miss though. The bartenders are usually on point and take care of people sitting at the bar. But if you sit at a table, it's kind of random. Some nights the service is great and you get everything fast. Other nights it's slow and you start wondering if they forgot you exist. Still, even with that, it's one of the best local spots for geek culture. It's chill, fun, and feels like home for gamers. I'll keep coming back for the people and the vibe.

Nerds assemble! I absolutely love this safe space for every fandom stan in town. So many people were playing Magic the Gathering when my boyfriend and I came. While my fandom isn't gaming related, I loved watching anime while watching a gamer on twitch. The drink I had was delish. We ordered the salad and sweet potato tots which was filling. We played a couple of trivia games while singing along to the music. I'm definitely inviting all the precious nerds in my life to stop by as it's fun, the food is good as well as the drinks. Looking forward to a rousing D&D night! The prices are average and there is ample parking. It does get crowded on the weekends but definitely worth visiting.

Food 4+, service 4+, ambience 4+!!! Highly recommend this funky little place. The menu is traditional but with a twist. Can't go wrong here. Please give it a try!

Super fun spot with lots of activities, it's in a bit of a walkable area, which is nice. The drinks are themed and strong and the staff are beyond friendly and on top of it. My fiancee has gotten some food options from here which he's thoroughly enjoyed as well!

Came here on a Friday night w my friends around 9PM and we got a table right away, luckily by the games too :) It started to get more crowded as time went on but it wasn't too bad. The servers were really nice and checked in with us occasionally. Starting off with drinks, I got the Power Up. I would recommend this drink if you want something fruity and sweet. My friends got a Moscow Mule & Phoenix Down. We also shared the Sweet Potato Tater Tots and Crispy Chicken Strips. I really liked the sauce that came with the tater tots. I loved that they had a massive selection of different board & card games. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours and we played like 3 different games. It looks small but there was plenty of space. I also absolutely loved the music they played while we were there, I felt so comfortable and at peace.

I've been to many bars/restaurants in uptown, but nothing can compare to the atmosphere of the guildhall. Mel, the bartender was so helpful. She was the only person on the floor during opening and still nailed all aspects of service. Not only was the service satisfying, but the food was on point and beyond my big back expectations. The smash burger goes crrrraaaazyyyyy!

Not only is Guildhall the place to be, it's open late, provides a great ambiance, friendly staff, delicious eats, and more. We're regulars so I guess it's easy to leave this review, but the staff has always kept us coming back. Check it out if you're looking for your next laid-back full service bar.

Update: They gotten better, food better, drinks better. They hired new people they just ask if we're ok and I appreciate that. Good job Guildhall

Guildhall is such a cool laid back place. You could dangerously be here for HOURS. Every time my friends and I come in Melissa and bartender Tony take great care of us. The food is great, the cocktail options are never ending and amazing, and the service is just so warm and friendly. Thank you Melissa and Tony! You have a customer for life!!

The food was good. I ordered a bread plate. Just carbs tonight. He ordered a chicken sandwich with garlic fries. I like that this place is open late. They need to add one or more desserts to their menu. They only had a oatmeal cream pie and a cheesecake. The service was good, although it took a while for the food. We should have played a game while we were waiting. They were very busy for a late Sunday night. They had so many games to choose from. Next time.

What a fun place! Love how I was able to let out my inner nerd (by playing board games) while having really good drinks and food. I brought my own games, but this place has a bunch of games that you can borrow. Concerning the drinks, all of them were excellent; I especially loved the creative names. There were a lot of options, and the servers were great at helping us pick out drinks/food. Additionally, the waiters would constantly check up on us. Concerning the food, I definitely recommend getting the popcorn. It is not your typical kettle corn ('cuz it's better). If you're looking for a place to play board games, drink, and snack, this is the spot.

We came to Uptown and decided to stop in for dinner. This is probably not a typical bar that I would normally hang out at since I'm not really into board games or E-games but glad we stopped in. The ambiance was lively and it appeared people were having a good time hanging out, there were couples, families, and groups of friends enjoying the evening. Our server was busy but came over to take our drink order and was nice enough to walk us through the menu since it was our first time here. I ordered the Dragonblade that was well crafted. The drink had a good mixture of Vodka, Agave, Liqueurs, and juices, very tasty combination. My wife had the Heart Container non alcoholic drink, she enjoyed it. We ordered the house potatoes chips with habanero sauce, so good and addicting. For our main entrees I had the veggie wrap with grilled chicken and a side of sweet potato tots. The wrap was amazing, all the ingredients were fresh and the chicken was grilled to perfection and full of flavors. I'd definitely order it again! Don't get me started on the sweet potato tots, they came with an aioli sauce. I've had potato tots before but never sweet potato tots, they were delicious! We also shared the smoked brisket mac & cheese and we added grilled onions. This dish was delectable with mouth watering brisket in every bite. My wife had the chicken strips, they were made with a tortilla chip crust, how innovated and they were scrumptious. This was no regular bar food, the chefs here are doing it right, using innovative ideas, and top notch ingredients. We really enjoyed our dinning experience and will definitely come back!

We wanted to have a MTG game night with some friends after work. One of our friends suggested this place, and we're glad we came! The food was actually very good. I had the tacos and sweet potato tater tots. Our server was super chill and helped with suggested drinks. If you enjoy games, this is the gastropub for you! There were a lot of selections for board games and they had videos playing of Zelda play-through streams and Arcane. Definitely a very niche vibe which we all loved. We'll be back again!

Yes this place is great. Shrimp salad and fries so good. Pork siders good. Seriously will be coming again. They have food service and the hours are good. Drinks good too. For those who like board games, this is your place

Delicious Mac and cheeses. It has a smokiness because it has brisket in it, which balances out the cheese nicely. I added bacon which took it to another level. It added more to the flavor. Definitely try this dish out. My GF had the pulled pork with the sweet potato tots. She also really enjoyed her meal.

Great bar for drinks, they have board games in case you're feeling competitive. I haven't tried their food, so can't comment on that. I will have to try it next time. I wish the lighting was a bit dimmer at night, would make for better ambiance.

So my boyfriend and I had our first date here. He's much more into video games than I am and he was in awe! It's now been almost 3yrs since that first date and I don't think we have ever not been impressed with the warmth, enthusiasm, or knowledge the entire staff exudes. The staff KNOWS the menu, they can recommend you beers or cocktails from their ever changing menu as well as some great food items. My absolute favorite thing food wise is their Brisket Mac & Cheese. It is the most amazing thing I've ever eaten! I highly highly recommend stopping by if you want to have a drink, laugh and play board games with friends, have the best Mac and cheese of your life, and enjoy the incredible ambiance.

A really cool place nestled in Whittier! They have two big shelves of board games you can peruse and borrow during your time here, or bring your own! Quite a nice rotating menu of cocktails and beers as well as a monthly thematic menu! They even have a mead on tap! Food is typically on the smaller portion size so great for a snack but not quite enough for a meal. Plenty of street parking nearby.

We came in on a Saturday afternoon. We waited probley 10 minutes to be seated- not an employee in sight. Then a guy came and told us to sit wherever. We came for the chicken strips because of the good reviews about them. I'm a chicken strip lover and I know good strips. These are not them. They were so dry. They were very unsatisfying. And was there actually Buffalo seasoning on them?- because I couldn't tell. The fries were pretty good. If you don't like salt, tell them light or no salt because they had a ton. But 9 bucks!? Damn!!! Will not be back.

The food here is so legit and delicious ! The drinks are what makes this review a one Star. I love Pisco Sour's and it's my go to drink. I only drink Peruvian Pisco though When I asked the bartender what kind of Pisco El Gobernador was, he assured me it was Peruvian. He was incorrect and it was Chilean. I don't appreciate that he didn't check and know his spirits. He also forget the Peychaud's Bitters which comes with the drink. A brutal mistake when it comes to this drink. The ambiance is all there TVs playing livestreams of video-games which is what they advertise but, should have a few playing something else. I would take my business elsewhere if in Whittier.

Myself and a bunch of fellow gamers decided to meet up at Guild Hall. We had a fantastic time and we hope they open up another establishment in Orange County hint hint.

Wowowow, the service here has really impressed me Today. Walked in, immediately greeted by the host and offered a seat at the bar. Sergio, clearly an observant bartender, immediately offered me a choice drink from the house, a Ferrari (fernet Campari). The drink was a bit bitter, and a slight bit wild but tasted spectacular. As I was seated at the bar sipping my way through the Ferrari; Cassadie offered me a special on the menu the "waiting on Tommy Jarvis" in JELLO SHOT FORM!!!! all I can say is I was absolutely enthralled. Shot tasted like a tasty sweet liquor with a kick. Overall, the vibe, the Jell-O shot, the amazing liquor selection, and the lively, attentive service made a great environment for any occasion in Whittier. Sergio could smile more. Besides that, great time. 10/10 would come again .

Nerds are welcome here! Safe space to be weird and the drinks and food are above average. Tour de tacos is my wife and I's favorite go-to and the mineflare cocktail is easy to put down with a nice buzz to follow ;) overall, the bunch of board games they have will keep any conversation going and the food and drinks enhance the hang. Love this place! Staff is friendly but sometimes we do get left hanging for a minute, it's expected though during the rush hours. A well deserved 5 stars from me and my wife and our pug Remi who has been to their outdoor seating during the pandemic.

If you like board games and craft cocktails, this is the place to go! My friends and I stopped by here for drinks before our next stop and got pulled in by the wall of board games (we love board games!). We were just going to stop by for a drink and next thing we know, we're about 2 drinks in each and an hour past as we were having too much fun playing games. Love that you can just grab a game and chill! The craft cocktails were great! We didn't have one bad one. Our waiter was fun and definitely recommended some great options to us. I dont think you can go wrong with any of them but if you're not sure, definitely ask for a rec! They know their drink and could make some adjustments. I think I got one of their non-alcoholic one but they made it alcoholic and 10/10 would get again! Definitely will be back to try out some of their food items! We were by the kitchen and when those garlic fries came out, they smelled so good!

Gather your friends and head on to Guildhall for some board games, cold beer & comfort food. They have A LOT of board games for all ages so you'll have no problems finding something. The food was just okay though. Ordered the charcuterie board, Brussels sprouts, & a cheeseburger with sweet potato my tots. The charcuterie board was the biggest disappointment. It came only with 4 slices of toast. The meats were all very bland & the cheese underwhelming. I don't even know what kinds of cheese I got. The beef fat candle was completely impractical. There's no seasoning/salt in the fat, tried to dip the toast in the melted fat then tried to smear some on and it was just grease. The dipping sauce for the tots also needs some work. I think it's suppose to be a chipotle flavor but again really lacked any "kick", needed more salt & seasoning. Overall though I would go back.

Good- beer was good we had the lager Bad was ambiance , waste of tvs All on games , I get it that is for gaming people. Maybe should advertise it that way. Maybe just local sports teams in one small area

Obsessed! Love the drinks, food, games, and artwork. Bartenders definitely know what they're doing behind the bar. Every drink was freshly made to order and absolutely delicious. Wish I could remember the name of the drinks haha. We also ordered the sweet potato tater tots - perfect appetizer/side to have while getting lost in their games. Such a cute spot for a double date night. Staff were welcoming and attentive throughout our entire visit. They got busy for a Friday night but that never slowed or affected their service. Can't wait to try more of their food menu next time.

Pulled pork sandwhich tasted good and is worth ordering. The mac and cheese was solid as others have said, very heavy and filling, lots of quantity, if 3-4 people got entrees, they can all split the mac and cheese. Relaxed vibe since it wasn't super full but even though maybe 40-50% filled up, it was a great place to check out. Tons of board games and there's about 3-4 streams, showing on TV's, most of the duplicated on another monitor. To be honest they didn't seem that interesting to watch but I'm not that into the streaming community. The tall ceiling and tables give it a very relaxed feel. Great for groups of friends or a laid back date.

Came here for a late night date and was very pleased with the service and atmosphere. We didn't try any food but REALLY enjoyed the CHAREAU-DINGER'S CAT and OLD FASHIONED

Went to Guildhall on a Wednesday night. Took us over 15 minutes to get three drinks brought to our table, mind you our drinks were ready at the bar but our server was apparently swamped with the whole 2 other tables he was attending to. Food and drinks are criminally overpriced, TV's play movies/games that are super laggy. Overall a below subpar experience.

Food, staff and feel of the restaurant are all amazing. Recommending this place anytime you want to drink and chill.

Delicious food, good cocktails and beer, tons of game options and great service. We'll definitely be back. We got the Brussel sprout appetizer (my favorite part of the meal), the smash burger with sweet potato tots and the chicken tenders. Tenders could have had a little more seasoning / flavor. Also go the berry cobbler for dessert. All in all a great meal and experience.

Nice little E-Sports bar in Uptown! They had a lot of board games available to play as well. We got appetizers to share - the Brussels sprouts and sweet potato tots were so yummy but the chicken tenders were dry. The beers and drinks were ok, nothing crazy about them. I'd go back and try some different food and drinks next time. It's a casual, chill place to hang with some friends.

Would be a great place to hang if they got a better staff. Everyone was rude and not very helpful. Would also like more beer choices.

While shopping at a shop down the street, we checked out the menu and thought we'd give it a try. I am all about trying out new or different places. We weren't super hungry, so we opt to do sharing. Drinks first... I got the Lifelink. OMG! after the first sip I wanted a gallon of this fantastic libation. Next, we got tomato soup and split the Macaroni and Cheese with brisket. I almost fainted because it was a magnificent bit of deliciousness. My almost 5-year-old grandson got the cheeseburger (cheese cooked inside the patty). He loved it so much that he wanted to eat the whole burger which was huge. LoL. The restaurant is set up with game boards. TV's on anime. Fun for all. Outdoor seating if you prefer. Wait staff super friendly. As Arnold said "I'll be back".

I've never been to a nerdy bar! ‍ This place was great! It was so lively, high spirited, and such a great time. All the board games for up to any size of people you can choose from from two big bookshelves! The drinks are delicious and fresh, and so many to choose from based on some popular games. Did I even mention the food? Oh man... just the shareable plates alone can fill up a party. One star less only because waiters barely came around while we were there and had to scout around or go to the bar to get them to come by. But otherwise a great place to save your progress after a long hard day out in the open world! Haha

We have enjoyed Guild Hall for years. With the latest specials, Melody makes an amazing banana daiquiri.
