Absolutely must-visit place in Rio!! Very nice atmosphere with traditional “classic” Brazilian meals. Nice region with a LOT of people sitting outside.

Amazing ceviche and very goood burger! 10/10

Surely one of the best restaurants in Rio, with a long tradition and a very cozy atmosphere. It is one of those restaurants where you feel that the waiters know personally all the guests and that most of the guests know each other. The food is excellent, and the prices are a bit high, but not ridiculously high. It is worth a visit.

Don't be fooled by the looks: even though Guimas is an old restaurant (I came here first time when I was dating my husband, and we are married for 38 years). If you fancy desserts, Guimas has the best "Mil Folhas" (called Napoleon in English) in Rio. It comes in two flavors: strawberry and almonds. Their pear salad with brie is amazing. If you like shrimp moqueca, go for it. You will not regret it.

A small street-side cafe with extraordinary food and European flare. The steak is among the best in Rio and the service is outstanding.Bread and pasties are homemade and delicious. An intimate and friendly dining experience in Gávea.

Classic restaurant in Rio. Old school with very good service. Very small setup and usually has waits. Filé da Casa is the best dish.

Food ok, terrible service

Love the food and the service, but not so much the beer selection or the prices. They are missing out on the craft beer movement.

Localizado nas entranhas do BG(Baixo Gávea), o Guimas é um ótimo restaurante para qualquer tipo de jantar. Sua atmosfera acolhedora e intimista serve muito bem um casal assim como um grupo de amigos, fazendo desse um restaurante livre de erros. Os preços são razoáveis e a qualidade dos pratos é muito satisfatória. O restaurante costuma lotar fácil e a rotatividade é um pouco mais lenta que o normal. Minha última visita começou já tarde, pedimos de entrada um carpaccio de salmão marinado(R$32,50) que sinceramente estava sem gosto, não recomendo. Meu prato principal foi o Best Burger(R$36,80), hambúrguer sem pão, no molho de gorgonzola, salada verde e fritas de acompanhamento. Estava delicioso, a salada é bem servida e o prato não falha na sua simplicidade. A carne estava no ponto e o molho vem na quantidade certa. De sobremesa pedimos o brownie quente que também não decepcionou. O garçom foi muito atencioso apesar do fluxo quase sempre causar uma demora na entrega dos pedidos. Definitivamente recomendo a visita mas dê prioridade aos horários mais vazios! Quanto mais cedo, melhor.

The place is awesome: very clean nice interior, professional high class service, descent prices. Their authentic Brazilian food is just phenomenal especially grilled shrimp and quinoa salad. Coffee is delicious as well. We burnt on a couple of lousy places around Rio, but this one is definitely worth of giving a shot.

Situated in a trendy corner of Gavea, Guimas food offering is notable. Locals seem to come here a lot and my experience with the service was great.
