Right in the thick of Saddar Town, The Gulf is an oasis. Spacious rooms, friendly staff, free brekkie and wifi. There are two classes of rooms- the cheaper ones seem to have older furniture, but are perfectly acceptable. I sprung for a business class, then the manager bumped me up to a double so I could have better wifi. Thank you! The scene outside is essentially a large bazaar, especially at night, so the street side rooms may be kinda noisy but it's really not too bad. Cafes and take out joints are everywhere in this 'hood. Most rooms have a/c or at least a ceiling fan, which I prefer anyhow. Each floor will often have a porter to keep an eye on things for extra safety. ||When I told the cab drivers at Karachi's airport where I intended to stay, they told me all sorts of horrible things about the Gulf. DON'T BELIEVE THEM. They're just trying to take you to somewhere that'll give them a commission. I stayed 8 nights here and had no problems whatsoever. Would I stay again? Without hesitation.
