"This dramatic two-tier waterfall, whose name translates as "Golden Falls,"a reference to the shimmering mist that sometimes appears around thefalls, is one of Iceland’s most famous—which is saying something in a country abundant with waterfalls. Saved from oblivion during the 1920s (foreign investors wanted to dam the falls to create hydropower), the waterfall lies in a canyon on the Hvítá river and is backed by scenic snowcapped peaks. It’s possible to follow the falls as they flow downstream through the canyon, either via a walking trail or on a rafting trip, though it’s worth noting that the paths are wet and can be slippery. The visitor center has a canteen that serves up surprisingly tasty local dishes like lamb soup; there are also a gift shop and a local exhibition centered around traditional life in the area."

Beautiful area. Easy access from large parking. Stairs leading down to first viewpoint are broad and not to steep. There is a path leading to the falls that requires a bit more effort to manage but it's worth the effort.

Absolutely beautiful. Nature presents its' wonders with both hands here in Iceland, and Gullfoss is up there. If you can, I'd definitely recommend walking down to the bottom of the short trail to get the full effect of the second, deeper drop. What a fantastic place to visit.

Our first stop off on a glacier tour and it was spectacular.

A few steps from the parking lot, there are 2 levels, the lower level is through a staircase, but because it is winter the path that takes you to the falls is closed. For me, the best views are from the upper platform, do not stay at the first viewpoint, but walk further so you can find a better view of the power of the waterfall, taking a photo from the top is excellent for capturing the magic. It was March and snowfall, everything in white looked very pretty.

Impressive waterfalls with astonishing views! Relatively good paths and sturdy staircases, but to reach the lower viewpoint you'll have to do a bit hiking on paths and rocks that might get slippery depending on wearher conditions.

A showstopper!! This place is epic, the waterfalls are amazing to look at, the views are the best thing about it. Once you seen the waterfalls, you have to stop in the cafe at the shops and visitor centre the food is there is awesome. Lovely gifts and memorabilia in the shops. In the distance you can see the glaciers, the sheer size of these are amazing !!! Would recommend stopping here 👌

I was astonished after seeing Gulfoss. Its beautiful. Scary, huge and dramatic. See the pictures yourself, but no picture can do the justice to live experience. The gorge created by the river is beautiful. Site is free to visit. There is ample parking. And a cafe with several food options including vegetarian options. Shops are also nice to buy some souvenirs.
