Gululu | Authentic Maltese Restaurant

Went as a family of 4 and the bread they gave us to start with was a bit dry and hard. The starters and mains took a long time to come out. The staff were nice but the food wasnt worth what we paid, there are better restaurants either side that are cheaper and much better food.

We took the typical Maltese degustation menu, we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff is very kind. Maybe it was better to have a bigger table when 4 people books.

I had the Maltese platter with Bigilla, kappunata, Maltese pork sausage, local sheep cheeselet (ġbejna), and Maltese bread with tomato paste. Then for my main I had the Fenkata Imtektek (braised rabbit and rabbit is super traditional Maltese food), I paired it with a glass of Maltese Pinot Grigio. They loved chatting with me so much and I was so excited to learn about the food they offered me a free digestive and I also ordered a dessert so I asked them to surprise me and I had the Leila Carob liquor which was kinda like Jaeger but a lot smoother. For the dessert I had the Sinizza which is like a Swiss roll pastry filled with ricotta cheese. 10/10 meal, the staff was great. Definitely must eat when we come back to Malta!

The rabbit tasting manu was good, we got to try a lot of traditional dishes. The portions were huge! Great service from Amneish.

Food was delicious and mostly Maltese cuisine so a perfect opportunity to taste what the locals have to offer. The service was excellent and the atmosphere quite lively on the inside and a bit more romantic and quiet on the outside. I enjoyed every second here.

Nikki was a great server. She took the time to explain menu and options. Even had us sample a wine before deciding on a bottle. Tried a variety of Maltese dishes ... all good! Price to quality ratio was great. We had rabbit pasta and a fresh local fish.

It offers a pleasant dining experience with tasty food, a beautiful view, and a prime location. The atmosphere is charming, and the staff is generally friendly and welcoming. However, there were a couple of issues during our visit. A small mistake was made with our order, which wasn’t a big deal, but what stood out was that a staff member accidentally hit my husband on the head twice while passing by and did not apologise.

My sister and I had a lovely dinner here last night overlooking the pier. Our waiter was very friendly and sweet. Pizzas were delicious (we got the chicken and rabbit). We also enjoyed a malti spritz and malti negroni. Would recommend!
