Gumbo Shack

I'd classify it more as a dive bar than a restaurant, but I like dive bars so it's not an insult. If you want to be fawned over while you eat, don't go, but if you want decent food and service, this place is good. A plate of royal reds and a few beers and you'll be feeling alright.

Called in an order of chicken and sausage gumbo to go to take back to the hotel. Only to find out I was given red beans and rice. So on a second trip there I was given gumbo with no rice. Tastes like Chef boyardee ravioli. No gumbo taste at all. Won't be back

We walked in and were just stared at while they watched the football game. They acted like we were intruding. The salad came with about a tablespoon of dressing and then when we asked for more we got about one more tablespoon! The gumbo was not good at all, the oysters were watery, the nachos were mostly dry chips and lettuce and tomatoes with about a tablespoon of hot sauce and a tablespoon of sour cream. The waitress was about the only thing good in the place. Very disappointing! I will not return or recommend the gumbo shack. They should rename their establishment to the shack.

Great atmosphere! Don't expect Ruth Chris but the burger is pretty good. It's definitely a place to go when you want to watch a game and get a beer.

The pulled pork was amazing and their service was quick and pleasant! We are from out of town and this place was tucked away but worth a second look. Food was affordable and delicious!

Doesn't deserve one star.. the "gumbo" tasted like a cold can of ketchup.. and if you don't want to end up in the hospital DO NOT order the "raw" oysters.. it looks like they serve them fresh out of a bucket on shells that have been run through a dishwasher.. if they even have a dishwasher.. don't waste your money or risk your health

Their bloody mary was pretty good with all the garnish that came on it. It definately could have used a little more vodka though. Nice place!

I really shouldn't give it 1 star. I'm guessing they fired the cook that was here when triple D came because they don't even know how to cook grits. Mine were raw and the waitress even told me " I don't think the cook here has ever cooked grits" I mean REALLY
