Well after many years since we were last at Gundog Estate it was great to be back at this lovely little place in Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley. We decided to stay for a wine tasting here and would like to thank Debora for her wonderful hospitality and a great chat. I would definitely recommend going to this small but nice quaint little place for some nice wine. I recommend you buy a bottle of their Musket.

Cherie was on her 2nd shift and paid close attention to our preferences when we went in for a wine and cheese tasting. it was lovely to chat to her and her dark haired boss. There was a third woman who served us well but gave us suggestions before we told her what we were looking for in our tasting and was a bit short with us when we changed our minds on wines. We purchased the blue moon cheese (beautiful, would recommend) as well as the the hills Shiraz.

What a beautiful little winery. We were helped by an amazing gentleman Graeme with expert knowledge of the wines and region, he was honest, welcoming and generous with his time. The wines here are delicious 🤤 make sure you work your way through to the muscat (it’s worth it, in Graeme’s words pudding in a glass and it really is). There are some big brands in the Hunter Valley but this should be on everyone’s list to stop at. Will definitely buy more of their wines and took away a healthy supply of whites, reds and the muscat to enjoy. Thank you

Nigel

What an exceptional small boutique cellar door with friendly staff and more importantly, great tasting wines. Highly recommend a visit if in the Hunter.

On Monday we visited Gundog Estate for the 2nd time and again had a wonderful experience. Particularly Jenny who was fantastic at looking after us. Her knowledge, service, banter was all part of the wonderful experience. She made us really embrace the Gundog experience and we have now joined the wine club. Thank you Jenny.

After having an exceptional experience at neighbouring Usher Tinkler, we were beyond displeased with the experience at Gundog. Two women who were working there (an older and a younger) were very rude to my husband and I. They made grimacing faces behind my back which my husband later told me about. We waked in asking about doing one tasting and they refused, stating that wasn’t allowed (meanwhile we have been to two other wineries in the hunter valley in the last week that let us do one tasting). They said that wasn’t possible, which is untrue. I am a breastfeeding mother (there with my baby) and am appalled that my husband couldn’t do a tasting on his own.

Great little cellar door with informative and fun hosts. Really nice wines including the Rare Game Shiraz and a beautiful rose. It was recommended to us by a wine expert back home. Gundog may not show up in your research, but highly recommend seeking them out. Bookings are essential right now as it is increasingly popular!

Always a great experience in Gundog! Graham was a very good host to our family and we had a great time chatting with Graham! Best experience is always when we get a great host!
