I had a lovely high tea experience at Gunners’ Barracks in Mosman. The venue wasn’t too busy, and we were lucky enough to be seated by the window (note: window seats are mostly for tables of two). The food was beautifully presented and delicious — a perfect balance of savoury and sweet items. The tea set was served in elegant silverware, and there was a wide selection of teas to choose from. Service was outstanding — the staff introduced each dish, regularly refilled our teapots with hot water, and even offered to take photos for us without being intrusive. It was warm and thoughtful service throughout. I also mentioned a birthday when making the booking, so they have arranged with a special dessert — it was spot on and made the celebration even more memorable. Highly recommended for a special occasion or a relaxing afternoon treat!

We recently celebrated a special occasion with lunch at Gunners Barracks. The restaurant is situated on a spectacular historical site with amazing views to match. Staff were attentive and there was nothing to fault. We thoroughly enjoyed our three course lunch. Simply amazing

Gunners & Barracks helped me host the most luxurious high tea for my bestfriend who we celebrated as the bride-to-be. We had an array of scrumptious food. Special mentions to Jessica Y. who coordinated with me during the planning and was so good at communication. We had our wedding at Gunners Barracks and it was a fabulous experience from start to end. We were looked after by our wedding coordinator Jessica, who guided us through the whole process from booking up until the event. She was quick to reply to any questions, made sure all the details were taken care of and that nothing was forgotten. On the day of the wedding, the venue manager Emma looked after us, and she was incredible. She ensured the whole day ran to plan, told us what we needed to do and when, and she made us feel so welcome. She made it seem like there was no question or request too difficult. The wait staff on the day were also top tier. Professional in every way. Every staff member that day was amazing. One of the team, SJ, was particularly lovely not only to me but to many of our guests. She went above and beyond to attend to every request, always with a smile. The whole team made us feel like royalty visiting for the day! The food was sensational - as always. I have been to Gunners many times for high tea; it is one of our family favourites. The meals on the day were no exception - absolutely delicious. Many guests raved about it. Thank you to the chefs! The setting - you cant get better. Harbour views, and the beautiful sandstone. The room and courtyard were decorated to perfection. The best part is, I now have an excuse to go back to Gunners Barracks more often - as we can celebrate our anniversaries there!!

High Tea: it was fabulous and really flavoursome! We were so fortunate to get a great seat with a view. The sandwiches were really nice and the bread was so fresh and spongy. The savoury food of the high tea was really good and its the first time that I’ve loved and eaten everything on the plate. The sweets were in fact very sweet but still really yum. The scones were a great texture and generous size, maybe a little flavourless but I guess that’s what lashings of jam is for! Or maybe I’m just accustomed to lemonade scones… I would 100% go back here and recommend it to everyone! If I was going to be critical, I unfortunately had egg shell in my sandwich which was a shame but on the other hand, the chicken sandwich was SO good that it made up for it. A fast turn around and nice ambience.

Where do I even start with Gunners Barracks as our wedding venue? As a historic site, it is absolutely stunning and offers an old world charm that is classy and timeless. Practically speaking, the venue has both beautiful outdoor and wet weather options with free and accessible parking. Our wedding coordinator Jessica Yates has also been so pleasant to work with throughout our wedding planning journey, being extremely responsive and informative in the kindest way. Food was lovely on our wedding night as well. I look forward to returning in the future for our anniversaries!

The location is simply surreal for any catch-up, lunch, dinner, coffee, or high tea. The staff was helpful and accommodating. They helped us with the baby and were very attentive. Special mention for Sarah-Jane, who gave great service with a smile. Look forward to our next sojourn to this lovely place.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at the remarkable Gunners' Barracks — a venue that feels like it belongs in a painting. Tucked away in the heart of bushland at Georges Heights, Mosman, this heritage site offers a rare blend of tranquillity and grandeur. The view over Sydney Harbour is simply breathtaking — a perfect backdrop for vows and forever moments. There’s a stillness here that makes time feel suspended, ideal for couples seeking an intimate or mid-sized celebration. The sandstone architecture, elegant interiors, and sweeping terrace all contribute to a setting that’s both romantic and refined. The staff were warm, attentive, and truly dedicated to delivering a flawless experience. And the food — beautifully presented and full of flavour — added an extra touch of sophistication to the day. While no place is without room for improvement (hence the four stars), Gunners' Barracks remains a stunning venue that I would gladly return to. While expensive this was a wonderful experience. We sat on the balcony and appreciated the view. The wind was really blowing and it was a little cool. The heaters could not keep up with the cool blowing wind. The scones were amazing. Tall and light. The clotted cream and jam were amazing. I am giving this a four star as it was expensive for two scones and a pot of tea. This is a place you visit for a special treat

For a High Tea morning tea Gunner's Barracks is sure to impress. The food is all presented to perfection, tastes delicious and is surprisingly filling. The staff go out of their way to accommodate the every need of patrons from allergy and dietary requirements to taking photos. Wait staff were able to answer all questions asked about the food served as part of our high tea menu. When booking it is well worth ask for a spot on the balcony to take advantage of the amazing harbour views. Be prepared to walk quite a few stairs as parking is at the top of the hill.

The Tearoom at Gunner's Barracks has a breathtaking view of Sydney Harbour. Everything on the menu tastes delicious and is beautifully displayed. I recommend the high tea for brunch, which consists of small desserts and mini sandwiches. The high tea portions are small but there is plenty of food on the tray. The Tearoom eludes a "down the beaten track" experience, as the restaurant is somewhat secluded in the bush. The wine list is extensive and vast, with wine from Australia and abroad. Sample the scones or sip some tea! The Tearoom at Gunner's Barracks makes for the perfect birthday or special occasion. Make sure to book a table on the veranda for the best view in the house! The Tearoom is open daily from 11am until 3pm. Beautiful panoramic views await you!

Stunning location, makes the price worth while. Food was yummy and service was impeccable. Would return.

Famous for afternoon tea but we found lunch menu is surprisingly good. All fresh ingredients and full of flavors. Would come again for lunch.

Had high tea on the veranda with two girlfriends on a gloriously sunny winter's day. View of the harbour was breathtaking. Our waiter was friendly and chatty. Food was excellent. $44 per person got us our choice of tea or coffee; delicious buttery scones with homemade jam and whipped butter; quiches and samosas; three kinds of finger sandwiches; chocolate macarons; cheesecake, some kind of coffee-chocolate cake; and a delightful berry and pistachio mousse. The quantity of food was more than adequate and we were totally full afterwards. Went for a walk around the venue after we finished eating and were very impressed with the fit-out and colour scheme of the place. This would be an outstanding venue for a wedding.

Although its owned by the same people who own The Tea Room QVB, the experience is pretty different. Its due of the amazing view of the Sydney CBD skyline and harbour because the food is the same and pretty much stock-standard high tea. Its perfect for mother's day, girly get-togethers and romantic rendezvous. Not the best high tea I've tasted (mine is still Lilianfels in the blue mountains) but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. Beautiful location!

This is really a harborfront wedding reception place which functions as a lunch restaurant and tea house during the week. Good food and service but expensive. Set in old stone military buidling at Middle Head.
