All I can say is WOW, we came and ate for the bottomless high tea ( available Monday to Friday) from the food and service to the view, WOW, WOW, WOW! The service staff were amazing, Mary Jane an absolute gem. The manager ( sorry - didn’t ask your name) was also amazing. These girls and guys are professional and it streamed through with their personalities. Smiles all round and nothing was too much. It was a special occasion and a very memorable one. We will definitely be back. The scones were like pillows- savoury selection amazing. The sandwiches made daily were delightful and the sweets were a diverse selection. I have deep routes in hospitality and it’s great to see that the same drive, personalism and professionalism still exists. You should be commended and keep up the great work.

A beautiful location steeped in colonial Australian history. Very professional, efficient and courteous staff. I couldn't recommend using this venue more highly for any kind of function, an excellent selection of meal options and beverage options. The organising, the setting, the delivery was all perfect and I have been to many functions and this certainly tops it. Parking with 2 disabled places very close and the rest about 89m up an almost step set of stairs. Public transport is virtually impossible but taxi or Uber is an option.

We attended a high tea birthday celebration in a private room so there were no views of the beautiful harbour unless you walked to the bathroom. The food and everything was beautifully presented. All the high tea items were delicious and there was plenty of food. The tables were big and round (10 people per table) & there were 3 different teapots with different teas. It was difficult to reach the tea pots without reaching through the middle or walking around to grab it or asking people to pass over the hot teapots. Not easy to do. Perhaps having 2 of each tea would make it easier or a lazy Susan. We also ran out of tea and waited some time for it to be filled. Staff were lovely and helpful. It was a hot day and the room got very warm so I was a little uncomfortable.

What a fantastic place for our birthday lunch getaway - historic setting, possibly best view anywhere of Sydney from across the Harbour. The staff (especially Sarah Jane our waitress) were exceptional and the food was absolutely top notch. The High Tea looked amazing but we opted for the Monday to Friday set lunch of 1 to 3 courses for $45 to $85 including a glass of bubbly and coffee/a choice from the tea selections. Superb food - entrees including salmon tartare, braised beef short rib, and a light and crisp spring vege tart were lovely. Mains including steak and frites w porcini ‘ketchup’, and duck leg with braised red cabbage, sultanas, and madeira jus were also top notch. Had to have the pavlova with sudachi & strawberry consommé, with coconut sorbet inside, and Pistachio panna cotta. Then a choice between the lovely bush walks or heading to Taronga zoo five minutes away. A perfect midweek birthday outing! Thank you Sarah Jane and everyone at Gunners Barescks :) Ps do check the menu online as it changes

Visited for high tea. Booked a table, venue close to full by 12.00pm. Service excellent, although multiple wait staff. Very clean, although crumbs present on one seat upon arrival. One napkin missing. Impressive views of the harbour. Food compares favourably to renowned high teas, for example The Windsor in Melbourne. Prices fair.

Had a great birthday celebration there during Friday lunch time. The set menu is great value. Tasty, well presented, good value with drink and coffee included. Great view of harbour from the window too. The waitress are polite and nice. Highly recommended.

We had our wedding reception at Gunner's Barracks on Sunday and it was an absolutely splendid experience all around. Jessica was our planner and she was fabulous. The care and attention to detail throughout the planning process was wonderful. The team on the night were incredible. Holly was our venue manager and she was everything you could want: fun and warm, calming and organised, patient and thoughtful. We planned our wedding from Canberra and the team were so patient doing all our meetings online and over email. We had our dinner on the terrace and the view was absolutely stunning. It is also the perfect wedding venue because you can take all your photos in the bush and on the cliffs around the venue, and minimise the travel and stress on the day (our photographer kept gushing about the setting). But I think the best part was probably the food. Absolutely incredible and extremely generous portion sizes - do yourself a favour and get the zucchini flowers as an entree. One of my bridesmaids literally ate her main in about two minutes flat and we laughed as she exclaimed she had 'licked the bowl clean'. All the staff are so friendly and made our wedding so so special. All the guests also kept on going on about how beautiful the place was. If you're a bride on a slight budget but still want a gorgeous and romantic wedding reception, look no further. It is a rare treat when your top pick for a venue is also the most affordable!

Google
stunning location with breathtaking harbour views. It’s a very popular spot, so booking is usually required to secure a table. However, they sometimes allow walk-ins if it’s not too busy. The atmosphere is elegant and peaceful, the food is delicious, the coffee is excellent, and their scones are simply outstanding fresh, soft, and truly worth trying.

Yelp
While expensive this was a wonderful experience. We sat on the balcony and appreciated the view. The wind was really blowing and it was a little cool. The heaters could not keep up with the cool blowing wind. The scones were amazing. Tall and light. The clotted cream and jam were amazing. I am giving this a four star as it was expensive for two scones and a pot of tea. This is a place you visit for a special treat

Yelp
For a High Tea morning tea Gunner's Barracks is sure to impress. The food is all presented to perfection, tastes delicious and is surprisingly filling. The staff go out of their way to accommodate the every need of patrons from allergy and dietary requirements to taking photos. Wait staff were able to answer all questions asked about the food served as part of our high tea menu. When booking it is well worth ask for a spot on the balcony to take advantage of the amazing harbour views. Be prepared to walk quite a few stairs as parking is at the top of the hill.

Yelp
The Tearoom at Gunner's Barracks has a breathtaking view of Sydney Harbour. Everything on the menu tastes delicious and is beautifully displayed. I recommend the high tea for brunch, which consists of small desserts and mini sandwiches. The high tea portions are small but there is plenty of food on the tray. The Tearoom eludes a "down the beaten track" experience, as the restaurant is somewhat secluded in the bush. The wine list is extensive and vast, with wine from Australia and abroad. Sample the scones or sip some tea! The Tearoom at Gunner's Barracks makes for the perfect birthday or special occasion. Make sure to book a table on the veranda for the best view in the house! The Tearoom is open daily from 11am until 3pm. Beautiful panoramic views await you!

Yelp
Famous for afternoon tea but we found lunch menu is surprisingly good. All fresh ingredients and full of flavors. Would come again for lunch.

Yelp
Had high tea on the veranda with two girlfriends on a gloriously sunny winter's day. View of the harbour was breathtaking. Our waiter was friendly and chatty. Food was excellent. $44 per person got us our choice of tea or coffee; delicious buttery scones with homemade jam and whipped butter; quiches and samosas; three kinds of finger sandwiches; chocolate macarons; cheesecake, some kind of coffee-chocolate cake; and a delightful berry and pistachio mousse. The quantity of food was more than adequate and we were totally full afterwards. Went for a walk around the venue after we finished eating and were very impressed with the fit-out and colour scheme of the place. This would be an outstanding venue for a wedding.

Yelp
Although its owned by the same people who own The Tea Room QVB, the experience is pretty different. Its due of the amazing view of the Sydney CBD skyline and harbour because the food is the same and pretty much stock-standard high tea. Its perfect for mother's day, girly get-togethers and romantic rendezvous. Not the best high tea I've tasted (mine is still Lilianfels in the blue mountains) but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. Beautiful location!

Yelp
This is really a harborfront wedding reception place which functions as a lunch restaurant and tea house during the week. Good food and service but expensive. Set in old stone military buidling at Middle Head.
