What a fantastic place for our birthday lunch getaway - historic setting, possibly best view anywhere of Sydney from across the Harbour. The staff (especially Sarah Jane our waitress) were exceptional and the food was absolutely top notch. The High Tea looked amazing but we opted for the Monday to Friday set lunch of 1 to 3 courses for $45 to $85 including a glass of bubbly and coffee/a choice from the tea selections. Superb food - entrees including salmon tartare, braised beef short rib, and a light and crisp spring vege tart were lovely. Mains including steak and frites w porcini ‘ketchup’, and duck leg with braised red cabbage, sultanas, and madeira jus were also top notch. Had to have the pavlova with sudachi & strawberry consommé, with coconut sorbet inside, and Pistachio panna cotta. Then a choice between the lovely bush walks or heading to Taronga zoo five minutes away. A perfect midweek birthday outing! Thank you Sarah Jane and everyone at Gunners Barescks :)

We had our wedding reception at Gunner's Barracks on Sunday and it was an absolutely splendid experience all around. Jessica was our planner and she was fabulous. The care and attention to detail throughout the planning process was wonderful. The team on the night were incredible. Holly was our venue manager and she was everything you could want: fun and warm, calming and organised, patient and thoughtful. We planned our wedding from Canberra and the team were so patient doing all our meetings online and over email. We had our dinner on the terrace and the view was absolutely stunning. It is also the perfect wedding venue because you can take all your photos in the bush and on the cliffs around the venue, and minimise the travel and stress on the day (our photographer kept gushing about the setting). But I think the best part was probably the food. Absolutely incredible and extremely generous portion sizes - do yourself a favour and get the zucchini flowers as an entree. One of my bridesmaids literally ate her main in about two minutes flat and we laughed as she exclaimed she had 'licked the bowl clean'. All the staff are so friendly and made our wedding so so special. All the guests also kept on going on about how beautiful the place was. If you're a bride on a slight budget but still want a gorgeous and romantic wedding reception, look no further. It is a rare treat when your top pick for a venue is also the most affordable!

stunning location with breathtaking harbour views. It’s a very popular spot, so booking is usually required to secure a table. However, they sometimes allow walk-ins if it’s not too busy. The atmosphere is elegant and peaceful, the food is delicious, the coffee is excellent, and their scones are simply outstanding fresh, soft, and truly worth trying.

My husband and I recently had our wedding at Gunners' Barracks on the 25th of May, 2025. It was everything my husband and I wanted for our special day - an intimate setting with a stunning outdoor courtyard for our ceremony, delicious food for our reception, and views of the harbour. The staff on the day were attentive to our needs and our wedding coordinator, Gabriella, was amazing in helping us prepare for the day - we had a very stress-free event thanks to them! We absolutely cannot wait to return to celebrate our anniversaries!

We had our wedding at Gunners Barracks and it was a fabulous experience from start to end. We were looked after by our wedding coordinator Jessica, who guided us through the whole process from booking up until the event. She was quick to reply to any questions, made sure all the details were taken care of and that nothing was forgotten. On the day of the wedding, the venue manager Emma looked after us, and she was incredible. She ensured the whole day ran to plan, told us what we needed to do and when, and she made us feel so welcome. She made it seem like there was no question or request too difficult. The wait staff on the day were also top tier. Professional in every way. Every staff member that day was amazing. One of the team, SJ, was particularly lovely not only to me but to many of our guests. She went above and beyond to attend to every request, always with a smile. The whole team made us feel like royalty visiting for the day! The food was sensational - as always. I have been to Gunners many times for high tea; it is one of our family favourites. The meals on the day were no exception - absolutely delicious. Many guests raved about it. Thank you to the chefs! The setting - you cant get better. Harbour views, and the beautiful sandstone. The room and courtyard were decorated to perfection. The best part is, I now have an excuse to go back to Gunners Barracks more often - as we can celebrate our anniversaries there!!

Came here for my birthday brunch with the girls and had the best time! The high tea was so good — the food was fresh and delicious. The only thing we didn’t love as much were the sweets; they were just way too sweet for our taste. But everything else was super tasty! We had such a blast celebrating, the staff were absolutely amazing and made the experience even better. I couldn’t be happier — will definitely be back!

WOW! What a night! We had our wedding on Friday 21st November and it was the best day of our lives! We can't thank Jessica enough as she guided us throughout the last few weeks of our planning with professionalism and warmth. Her responses were always prompt, she had an incredible eye for detail, and she made sure every element of the day was perfectly organised. When the big day arrived, Kelly and Emma, the venue managers, took over and they were nothing short of amazing. They liaised with the MC and managed the flow of the day effortlessly, keeping us informed, calm, and comfortable. They made everything feel easy and was always ready to help with anything we needed. The service team on the day was outstanding. Every staff member was polished, attentive, and so welcoming. We’ve had countless guests comment on how AMAZING the food was, how beautiful the venue looked, and how smooth the entire night felt. Thank you to the chef and his team for such delicious food! The service, atmosphere, and overall experience were simply perfect. I am already mentally planning my next event at Gunners Barracks (probably for my baby shower in a year or so haha!) I highly recommend having your wedding or event here!

Yelp
While expensive this was a wonderful experience. We sat on the balcony and appreciated the view. The wind was really blowing and it was a little cool. The heaters could not keep up with the cool blowing wind. The scones were amazing. Tall and light. The clotted cream and jam were amazing. I am giving this a four star as it was expensive for two scones and a pot of tea. This is a place you visit for a special treat

Yelp
For a High Tea morning tea Gunner's Barracks is sure to impress. The food is all presented to perfection, tastes delicious and is surprisingly filling. The staff go out of their way to accommodate the every need of patrons from allergy and dietary requirements to taking photos. Wait staff were able to answer all questions asked about the food served as part of our high tea menu. When booking it is well worth ask for a spot on the balcony to take advantage of the amazing harbour views. Be prepared to walk quite a few stairs as parking is at the top of the hill.

Yelp
The Tearoom at Gunner's Barracks has a breathtaking view of Sydney Harbour. Everything on the menu tastes delicious and is beautifully displayed. I recommend the high tea for brunch, which consists of small desserts and mini sandwiches. The high tea portions are small but there is plenty of food on the tray. The Tearoom eludes a "down the beaten track" experience, as the restaurant is somewhat secluded in the bush. The wine list is extensive and vast, with wine from Australia and abroad. Sample the scones or sip some tea! The Tearoom at Gunner's Barracks makes for the perfect birthday or special occasion. Make sure to book a table on the veranda for the best view in the house! The Tearoom is open daily from 11am until 3pm. Beautiful panoramic views await you!

Yelp
Stunning location, makes the price worth while. Food was yummy and service was impeccable. Would return.

Yelp
Famous for afternoon tea but we found lunch menu is surprisingly good. All fresh ingredients and full of flavors. Would come again for lunch.

Yelp
Had high tea on the veranda with two girlfriends on a gloriously sunny winter's day. View of the harbour was breathtaking. Our waiter was friendly and chatty. Food was excellent. $44 per person got us our choice of tea or coffee; delicious buttery scones with homemade jam and whipped butter; quiches and samosas; three kinds of finger sandwiches; chocolate macarons; cheesecake, some kind of coffee-chocolate cake; and a delightful berry and pistachio mousse. The quantity of food was more than adequate and we were totally full afterwards. Went for a walk around the venue after we finished eating and were very impressed with the fit-out and colour scheme of the place. This would be an outstanding venue for a wedding.

Yelp
Although its owned by the same people who own The Tea Room QVB, the experience is pretty different. Its due of the amazing view of the Sydney CBD skyline and harbour because the food is the same and pretty much stock-standard high tea. Its perfect for mother's day, girly get-togethers and romantic rendezvous. Not the best high tea I've tasted (mine is still Lilianfels in the blue mountains) but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. Beautiful location!

Yelp
This is really a harborfront wedding reception place which functions as a lunch restaurant and tea house during the week. Good food and service but expensive. Set in old stone military buidling at Middle Head.
