Gunung Raya

The highest peak in Langkawi. Around a 20 min drive up a nice paved road. The view is quite nice. You can see flooded rice fields and the mountains of Thailand along with Strait of Melaka. Unfortunately the actual summit is restricted area so the view from viewpoint is a bit limited to one side of the island.

Best view if you want go here when the weather is good (sunny) so the best view you can get especially for sunset. If you go when the weather is cloudy so the fog will close the view, like in my pictures. If you go up when the foggy come, it will so cold. Need one hour up to two hour to reach the highest. You can using car to go up. Free no paid if you want go up.

Not recommending this place if you are alone or on bike especially during late evening’s. This place is prone to Rolling Stones hence be very careful.

Mush come catch the view from 7pm-730pm. You will have a awesome sunset view make you memories ❤️

Worth a visit when you are exploring Langkawi. The ride with the scooter to the top was a lot of fun. Make sure that it is not too cloudy when you drive up there, otherwise you might not be able to enjoy the beautiful views over Pulau Langkawi.

We drove up to the top of Gunung Raya and it was absolutely worth it. The winding road to the summit takes about 20 minutes by car and is full of wildlife – we spotted monkeys along the roadside and were lucky enough to see six majestic hornbills gliding across the sky with their incredible wingspans. As we climbed higher, we noticed a refreshing drop in temperature, making it feel like a cool escape from the tropical heat below. The drive itself is beautiful, surrounded by dense rainforest, chirping birds and the peaceful hum of nature. At the top, the views are spectacular, offering panoramic sights over Langkawi’s forests and coastline on a clear day. It’s quiet, serene and not overly crowded – perfect for nature lovers, birdwatchers or anyone looking to unwind above the island. There’s a small area to park at the summit, and though there aren’t many facilities, the experience is all about the journey and the views. Definitely a hidden gem and one of the best scenic drives in Langkawi.

Nice hike to the top, the stairs into the jungle is quite nice. The view up there is not that good tho. Its a ok view point I would say. But if u have time its worth the exercise. Lots of nature to explore and watch

It’s quite worrying to see all google reviews mentioning the deep mountain urban environment and the nice view but none talking about a key point: safety! It’s just the road and parking area of an abandoned building which used to be a resort and then viewing tower many years ago. The place where people gather to take photo (near the roundabout) is actually very dangerous due to its low edge fence/rail whatever you name it. It’s just around 40cm height that an adult could easily trip over it or a kid if not watched properly could overran and fall into the deep “cliff”. Hope people take note when coming here. And beware of stray dogs too. The road up there has several super steep climb, be careful if coming by motorcycle. There are plenty of monkeys, do not expose any food especially if you’re riding motorcycle as the monkey might attack you causing you to fall from bike.
