Guppy's On the Beach

Guppy's continues to amaze every time we dine. The chef's creativity is impressive and the food and service is consistently excellent. The management of this very popular restaurant has developed the unique skill of making everyone feel welcome and special. Last night my wife and I each started with their signature Indian Rocks Fish Chowder and a wonderful Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. I had the Guppy's Seafood Bowl with lobster, shrimp, diver scallops, mussels and clams in a saffron broth. Delectable! My wife had the Surf & Turf dinner which included a 6 ounce Filet and Florida Lobster Tail. Delicious! The star of the show was the Chef's Dessert which was a Plant City Strawberry Shortcake with premium strawberry ice cream, shaved chocolate and fresh whipped cream. We enjoyed a great evening and highly recommend Guppy's on the Beach!

Guppy's is right across the street from Indian Rocks Beach County park. We walked over to get Linner ( late lunch early dinner) and was pleasantly surprised. Happy hour went till 5:15 and we were killing time to get pics of the sunset on the beach. Friendly staff clean facility and the food was great . No wait to be seated and they have inside and outside dining areas. Rebekah was our server and she took great care of us. Would highly recommend!

This is a nice place and we found our food was very good. Service was attentive and the outdoor seating was plentiful. We ordered the tuna dish as an appetizer. The tuna was very fresh. The fish and chips were excellent with a nice crispy batter with tartar and a malt vinegar aioli. We also go the special of the day which was Mahi Mahi ith grits. All delicious!

Guppy’s on the Beach in Indian Rocks Beach delivered a superb dining experience. We began with the Asian sashimi, which was fresh and well balanced, followed by a tuna salad that was both light and flavorful. The standout entrée was the blackened Australian sea bass—perfectly cooked, rich yet delicate—topped with a decadent Cajun brandy mustard sauce that elevated every bite. The accompanying broccoli and coleslaw were fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared, rounding out the dish nicely. An exceptional meal and a restaurant we would enthusiastically recommend to anyone looking for delicious seafood with bold, memorable flavors.

The food and service was fantastic. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable. Seating outside was pleasant. The Lobster Bisque was delicious. The Caesar salad was fresh, crisp, and refreshing. The Seared Ahi tuna was very good, as was the Coconut Shrimp.

We had a great lunch experience. The food was excellent, service was great. Will definitely return. I particularly enjoyed the seafood pasta.

Where should I start? Food! We ordered 4 different kinds of meals and it was all good 😋. The crab cake was delicious!!!!! Love my sea bass panko crusted fish, my son had the soup, his friend had the seafood with pasta and my there kid had the fish and chips. All were cooked perfectly. If in this area, try this place, you won’t regret it. Also, didn’t mention that it’s just across the beach?

We drove by a few times and wondered why it was always packed. So finally we decided to stop for lunch. We ordered an appetizer, steak tacos, drinks and dessert. It was delicious. The appetizer was only okay - the crackers it was served with were very cheap and individually packed. Lol. Really annoying to open too 😟. But the steak tacos were delicious and so was dessert. The service was great. And the patio is fun and shade is provided at most tables. I could see why it's a local favorite. I enjoyed it! 😁

We have always enjoyed Guppy's their menu is always full of great dishes. Each fresh, and tasty. From salads, appetizers, lunch or dinner I love it all. The ambiance along the Gulf adds to the experience, with a post dinner walk. After the hurricanes devastated us, we have supported our island businesses, and so glad they have maintained their great restaurant.

Only reservation we could get on Open Table was 4:45. So ended up grabbing an early dinner. One bonus was they had an early menu with a lot of options at early bird prices. ( have to have your order in by 5:15) This place had their own parking which is nice as parking is a challenge on the beach. Indian Rocks Beach was bustling .... Lots of people. Def is getting back on track from the hurricanes . This place is also very busy but service was pretty good. The Chowder was very good and also the coconut shrimp were a hit Great to see the barrier islands bouncing back from the hurricanes

Guppies does not deserve a 4.4 which is where it was today in December 2024. It deserves a 5.0 (which I gave it) and I'd fight a hurricane to come back. Speaking of which, my wife just commented to the waitress that she would get into an altercation if she tried to take away the rest of her spicy tuna salad... which has been on the menu for years. The grouper sandwich is perfect... don't touch it. Sitting outside on the porch is sunny and beautiful. If you don't like that kind of thing...or delicious food... keep your under 5 star rating to yourself and eat somewhere else.

Made reservation for 5 for an outside table, got there a few minutes early and we were seated quickly. The place is very busy and for good reason. The free bread is to die for. Courtney was our server and she was fantastic, especially considering how busy they were. It was a chilly February evening and another table and ours asked for the overhead fans to be turned off and they accommodated that request. We started out with the buratta appetizer and it was soooo good!! I got the Panko crusted Mahi with lemon caper butter sauce and mashed potatoes and it was one of the best meals of my entire vacation! My friend got the seafood pasta and loved it. We will be back next year for sure!!

This was the best meal we had all week! The service was top notch and greatly appreciated. We were quite comfortable dinning outside with the heaters. The food here was phenomenal! We started with the lobster escargot which did not disappoint. Next we had shrimp and grits and crab cakes. They were served with fresh steamed veggies and were cooked just right. Ended the meal with key lime pie and chocolate tort. Again both were delectable

Very disappointed they don't bread the shrimp Store bought frozen coconut shrimp. I thought bring by the bay,it would be fresh

Party of four, every thing was delicious! The waitress was the best!!!!! Parking can be tricky, be prepared to valet.

I love the entrance to this restaurant, it has a beautiful aquarium built into the wall- so pretty! There is great bar seating and other indoor seating, but on a nice night- it's pleasant to sit outside as well. We sat in the covered deck area, but there's also more outdoor seating a step below with umbrellas for shade. We started with one of the specials - blue crab hummus, served with plantains and marinated olives - it was really delicious. My husband had the seafood pasta w/ shrimp, scallops, crab meat- he loved it. I had the Asian Sashimi Tuna Salad- I loved it! So fresh and tasty!! We had a really good experience!! Gloria- our server was wonderful!

Honestly, the food in the greater St. Pete Beach area isn't always the best (focused more on transient tourists). However, Guppy's blew me and my family away!! While I unfortunately only have photos of my entrée, the whole meal was excellent from start to finish with very attentive service. We started with the BBQ shrimp (yummy sauce, but not oversauced), the burrata with beets and arugula, and crab guacamole (definitely my favorite of the three, such a good guac flavor with huge chunks of crab), which were all delicious. It was a busy night so our entrees took a bit longer, but we had enough apps to keep us occupied! I got the blackened grouper with mustard sauce and a side of wild rice, and it fantastic! Honestly some of the best grouper I've had in the Pinellas County area, cooked perfectly so it was nice and tender. The blackened seasoning was perfect, not too overpowering or oily, and I appreciated that they put the mustard sauce on the side. The accompanying wild rice and steamed broccoli (that evening's veggie) were also perfectly cooked and tender, not too crunchy. The rest of my party loved their meals, as well, especially the burger (incredible flavor from three different meats!) and the seafood ramen. The kids meals were also a success, with sweet potato fries and regular fries worth stealing off a plate! While we had a large party and were sheltered in a random nook by the entrance, the rest of the restaurant has a great ambiance and a cool vibe that we definitely want to check out next time. Really nice single-stall bathrooms, too. Can't knock them for our seating location due to our size and multiple young kids. I'm sure the other diners appreciated some quiet! This restaurant is absolutely worth a visit when you're in the area!

Stopped at Guppy's last night for dinner and had a lovely meal. I wasn't very hungry and went for one of the small plates-the lobster escargot. It was just chunks of lobster in garlic butter topped with a melted cheese, served in an escargot dish. It was tasty. I also enjoyed the Caesar salad. Service was good and the restaurant was clean and well run. Complimentary valet. Definitely worth a visit.

Really enjoyed our meal Guppy's. If I lived in the area I would be there 2-3 times a month for sure. I had a mahi mahi fish sandwich which was very good, but the lobster bisque was more than outstanding. The others in the party had big salads and grilled fish entries. We were a little naughty and had some bloody mary's and they were really good. I loved this place!!!!

This place always delivers. What I love about Guppy's is they bring a creative menu and deliver top notch meals consistently in a high tourist restaurant. Somehow, they deliver perfectly cooked and seasoned meals to the busiest restaurant on sand key. A must do restaurant for people traveling to this area.

This is a great spot! We love the outdoor dining setup! The shaded covered section is great. And the service is kind and speedy. The food is also great! The complimentary bread and seasoned olive oil are top notch and they offer extra for free. The ahi tuna special was seasoned so well - the sauce was so delicious and the wasabi mashed potatoes really good. The grouper dinner was also simple and good - with garlic mashed potatoes. Would definitely come here again!

Average food, someone claimed the lobster bisque was good here and it was below average with hardly and lobster, the bisque was a brownish in color and the few tiny remnants of lobster tasted old. Compared to Mandalay Prime's bisque this is very poor quality. The olive oil was without flavor and the bread was very poor quality also. Only thing that was good was the glass of wine.

Not sure why I thought this restaurant had a good view, because it doesn't. We did get a table outside but we were essentially sitting in the parking lot, so not very scenic. The menu was seafood heavy, which I love! The most interesting dish was the "lobstergo"; they use a escargo serving dish but use lobster instead of eacargo, very tasty! The Spanish octopus was char-grilled perfectly and I loved the flavor of everything it was served with (except olives - but that's a personal preference). The caprese salad was good, I loved the added texture of the pumpkin seeds on top of the shrimp.

My partner and I grabbed some food and drinks at the bar and it very much exceeded our expectations. The lobstercargo is a must! They also had a charcuterie board on special - delicious. And we rounded things out with the calamari - also delicious. Drinks were great, vibe was nice (great for date night), and service was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Excellent food and service! We love sitting outside on the patio with a drink. One of the best spot along Gulf Blvd!

My Boyfriend and I went to Guppy's on a Monday evening, and it was a very pleasant experience. They had nice patio seating and our server was helpful and attentive. The tuna poke bowl was fresh, and not fishy at all, and the seafood pasta was yummy as well.

Across the street from one of my favorite beaches and has a free parking lot with lots of open spaces. The umbrella and weather made this the perfect reprieve from the sun. We ordered the oysters they were huge (that's what she said)! The ceviche was fresh and flavorful, the perfect midday snack. Service was quick, friendly and the bathrooms were clean.

Wonderful late lunch at Guppy's! I didn't really tacos were not on the dinner menu, so definitely great addition to the lunch menu. All 3 types of mahi were a hit at the table - you can't go wrong! The lunch is a perfect portion and comes with vegetables and rice. The inside of Guppy's is surprisingly large. Two different seating areas, as well as outdoor dining tables. The location is right across from the beach, so perfect for a post-beach meal.

Large portions and fresh good food, nice outdoor patio. Not exactly on the beach. Service was good with timely refills and attention.

Had the hogfish special on Saturday was the best fish I have ever eaten. The food drinks and service is phenomenal. Highly recommend if in Indian Rocks to stop for a awesome dining experience

Decided to have a decent meal while in town and found this gem on Yelp. Ordered the short ribs which was excellent. I never order meat when dining out but this was a great choice. Presentation, taste and amount was excellent. The server was very dry, don't want to use the word unfriendly but there I was no difference between her and a robot.

Hmmm what to say about Guppy's. Service is kind of weird. Like, they know they're a tourist spot because of their proximity to the beach and the area where all the VRBO/AirBnBs are, but the interaction felt very forced and awkward. Sort of felt like they were bummed we were there or something. Food was mediocre versus the first time we came a couple of years ago. My daughter's fish and chips had little to no flavor. My ahi tuna salad was also lacking in flavor. My husband's creamy seafood pasta was ok, but also pretty bland. The kids meal my youngest had was pretty good. Overall, no one really finished their food or was tempted to eat their leftovers. Everyone did rave about the bread and oil that came with the meal, but it's not enough to bring us back next time.

One word to sum up our experience - WOW! We decided to try this restaurant on one of our last nights in Clearwater due to their amazing reviews. We were staying at the Hyatt Regency and didn't have a car so we relying on the trolleys to take us here. However due to a confusing trolley map we ended up having to take two trolleys and waiting quite a bit of time in between the transfers. Needless to say we were quite hungry when we arrived. Thankfully the restaurant was very accommodating as we came 30 minutes past the time I had told them we would get there. Upon arrival the restaurant didn't look too fancy and my dad was already having his doubts. However that all changed once the food arrived. I have never seen a place offering lobster escargot and that enticed me very much. The taste was so incredible that we ended up ordering three of them. We also got coconut shrimp, surf and turf, and bacon-wrapped swordfish. Each dish came out pretty fast and the service was top notch. Absolutely don't judge this place on their looks as they don't need to be fancy in order to taste delicious! So glad we ventured out of the way to give this restaurant a try. Truly worth it!

The place looks nicer than it actually feels and our server was awesome, but the food was very disappointing. No one in my group enjoyed the food and I have no idea where all these 5 star reviews are coming from. The fresh bread they provide comes from a bakery nearby. The dip they gave was pretty much just olive oil with a sprinkle of herbs. I would've loved to have more herbs to give it some actual flavor. For appetizers, we split the Lost Tuna and the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. The tuna had a weak flavor and it didn't taste the freshest. We also had one random piece of cooked tuna, which was weird. Their seaweed salad is very slimey and does not taste good or fresh. The spinach and artichoke dip wasn't bad. Definitely could've used more spinach flavor as it wasn't balanced well. But these are the cheapest and thinnest tortilla chips I have ever seen in my life! They just kept breaking with the slightest dip and they taste like crap. For an entrée, I got the Shrimp Fettuccine and it was such a disappointment. It doesn't even look appetizing in the slightest. The shrimp was good, but that's it. The noodles were undercooked and the "black truffle garlic sauce" was bland tasting and looked like gravy. And what a sad plate of veggies they gave with it: a small handful of green beans with two slices of carrot. C'mon people. This is just sad and cheap. To sum up this place: overpriced for below average food.

Guppies has always been a great place with excellent food and good service. I still like Guppies and will always take guests there but my last visit was a bit disappointing. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was very very skimpy. One flat flour tortilla folded in half with a drizzle of chicken and a few overcooked veggies, like peppers and onions inside. The folded tortilla was cut into four pizza shaped sections. Honestly, there couldn't have been more than two dollars worth of food in that meal. $13 seems a bit high for a tortilla and skimpy fillings. The service is always good there and my friend's meal was much better than mine so all in all it was a fairly decent experience. Next time I'll order something different.

The vibe is amazing! We chose to go during sunset time and you can see the sun slowly coming down in between the trees. The oyster was so good that I ate it all before I remembered to take a picture. The fish was very fresh and had special sauce with it! The drink is also good, very nice place to come with friends or family to enjoy! The staff was so friendly and welcoming helped us make our decision and it was on point!!!'

Great food and huge portions. Amazing waiter and service. This location was closed for 5 weeks due to recent hurricane. They have come back with same amazing service and food as usual. They are still doing some reconstruction inside from hurricane. Glad to support a small business. Crab cakes and lobster cargo are really good! The bread is delicious. The cocktails are great and large!

The food was delicious. Why only 4 stars? The check in process was as rough. The restaurant was rather loud, the conversations from one side carried to the other far too much. Our waiter was efficient and professional too. But would I recommend it? Yes, and I'd come back .

Great atmosphere outside especially on a perfect 80 degree evening at 7pm in Indian Rocks Beach! I would recommend the patio if you can. My family got calamari and the Lobstercargot for appetizers. The Lobstercargot was good, which I would highly recommend. The main courses were great, the Seafood pasta was one of the better ones I've ever had. The scallops and shrimps were fresh and I was actually full after eating this! The kids got the cheeseburger, fries and chicken strips which they all enjoyed. I tasted their meals and it was better than your average children food! My daughter got the Bolognese pasta which she enjoyed but could use some more pasta since the meat and sauce were to rich for her taste. My wife ordered the salmon which she enjoyed. The ambiance was great and our waitress Joanna, was fantastic! I'm sure all of the waitresses are good but Joanna is very attentive and answered all of our questions. Give this place a try, especially if you are nearby. I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time.if in a time crunch.

So many people love Guppy's and highly recommend it. Let me say the inside is absolutely horrid and the bar is antiseptic in such a bad way. The decor isn't even old fashioned and outdated. It's not welcome. It's unappealing. Words honestly can not describe how utterly horrid it is. The one night we went to have a drink at the bar, we walked right out because it was so gross looking. Our next visit we sat outside next to a screaming child where the parents thought it was cute to let that go on. Of course, Guppy's is not in control of that. Our meals were good. I had the potato crusted salmon, which is one of their signature dishes. Another diner had the Caesar which they put a twist on along with fish and a wonderful risotto dish. While another diner has one of their large salads. We all enjoyed our meals but agreed we prefer Salt Rock Grill down Gulf Boulevard for upscale seafood dining. Might return to Guppy's for lunch one day.

(Highly recommend reservations here to avoid long waits) We had reservations here on a Monday in March. We were seated right away but some groups had waits of 45-60 minutes. Our server was great. She knew her menu, made good recommendations, kept the duration of the meal good for a 2 yr old, and had a great sense of humor. I think her name was Deanna--shout out to her excellent service. Food was very good for beach seafood. Servings were large. The fresh greens salad and dressing were delicious, as was the lobsterescargot. Our group also enjoyed the escargot and calamari steak special. Favorites for dinner were the coconut shrimp and the grouper. Our 2 yr old really liked her fish and chips. Finally, the fried banana cheesecake was rich and great for sharing. Ambiance was a little off...I think they were redecorating or rebuilding after a storm so the bottom half of all the walls were wrapped in black plastic. There was a large cockroach that ran across the floor--not great--but it was quickly stomped and removed. Ambiance needs a little work. Overall, a good experience. Would recommend once the inside renovation work was done.

This place is a solid 4. Fun spot near the beach. Nothing crazy great but all solid and worth the visit. My steak was fantastic but lobster just okay. Very nice staff. I would come back.

Guppy's Restaurant is an upscale, contemporary restaurant with what many would consider a pricey menu. A cozy spot to grab a beverage, cocktails, lunch, or an affordable happy hour, so make a reservation. Carryout is available and an extremely popular option with pickup at the bar. They are upscale, but casual attire is acceptable with a few exceptions. Again, their located directly on Gulf Blvd in Indian Rocks Beach. Because they are across the street from the beach, they had to implement a dress code per guest request. They are 4 simple rules to follow and honestly just common sense. Everyone in your group must wear shoes, cover swimsuits, no tank tops for men, and all patrons must wear dry clothes to be seated indoors. Again, common sense, I say. Guppy's offers upscale seafood, pasta, and steak dishes plus small plates. They offer daily and lunch specials with Happy Hour starting at 3:00 p.m. An Early Bird Menu is also available for $19.75 from 4:00 p.m. - 5:15 every day if you want to avoid the dinner crowd. I had the Lobster Bisque for 5 straight days and twice the day before I left. It was that delicious! I loved the fresh, lobster flavor, and it's made from scratch every day. It is thick and rich and then dressed with fresh cream and lobster meat. Their Crab Cakes makes me want to move close by so I can have excellent crab cakes whenever I want them. Guppy's has mastered Crab Cakes. The Lump Crab meat was so fresh and served with a light creole mustard. The Truffles Lobster Mac & Cheese is a favorite of staff as well as guests with its pasta shells, rich creamy sauce, and tender lobster meat. It is topped off with a hint of truffle and oil and crunchy bread crumbs. So good!! I even ordered another one to go for breakfast the next morning. The Calamari is lightly breaded and not super oily like many restaurants. The serving is large enough for two, and I'd order again. The 2 Blacken Mahi Tacos were excellent as well and served with fresh fruit. The tacos are dressed with lettuce, pico de gallo, and adobo aioli. Very tasty tacos! The Soup and Caesar salad was another wonderful choice. Either select from a cup of soup of the day or Indian Rocks Fish Chowder or for a $2 upcharge have a cup of Lobster Bisque. The small Caesars salad is topped with Asiago Cheese, tri-colored strips, and Guppy's House Caesar Dressing. Light, filling, and yummy with no additional belly bulge afterward walking the beach. The staff was fantastic! I sat in the bar area each day to enjoy happy hour or dinner, and all my servers were 5 stars. They were knowledgeable, friendly, personable, and attentive but not smothering. I will definitely be back the next time I visit my friends who only live a mile from Indian Rocks Beach. They are so lucky to have Guppy's and so many terrific restaurants this close. I'll be back!!

One of my fave restaurants close to the beach. Everything I tried here was amazing. I love the bread and oil they serve here, although we did add lemon and some salt to the oil, but wow was it good. The Spanish octopus was very tasty and the perfect texture. Shrimp cocktail was one of the best I've had. The ahi tuna salad was amazing as well. Super fresh tasting and flavorful. And let me just say, I am in love with their fries here! I love the outside patio area, it felt nice. To drink I tried the Paloma, and it was pretty good Too! Love the spice on the rim.

We heard so many great things about this place and finally got a chance to try it recently. I don't know if it was just overhyped to us so we went in with really high expectations or it really just didn't hit the mark. We felt that the food portions were very small for the prices and lacked flavor. The lobster bisque had 2 little sad pieces of lobster in it. The salmon was tough and overcooked. However, our server was very kind and even accommodated our request to be put in a quieter corner since we had our newborn with us and didn't want to disturb anyone in case she cried (she slept through the meal thankfully). The place was clean enough with minimal decor but the bathroom definitely needed tending to. We weren't too impressed overall.

Fist, this restaurant is NOT in the beach. It's in the street not far from the beach. Limited parking, but they have valet. Service is slow and not the greatest. Food is great. It's crowded because it's on of the better restaurants on the strip. Recommend reservations. We walked in, sat at the bar, and would have waited over an hour if we hadn't order at the bar. Busy and pleasant crowd. Overall, enjoyed it.

Guppy's is a solid restaurant that has never disappointed us. Been coming here every visit to Florida. Bar makes good drinks Service is always good This evening was coconut shrimp and crab cakes dinner. Delicious! The bread and seasoned olive oil is very good.

Perfect lunch spot if in the area. This is a great option if you are new in town and have some time to spare from the Tampa Bay airport and surrounding areas. During the weekday, parking is easy and you should be seated instantly. The food is very fresh - especially the salmon which I got. Everyone else I was with ate all their food too. A rare 5 star for me. Definitely come here for lunch. Prices aren't too bad either.

The perfect place for a wonderful meal near the beach. Everything we ate here was 10/10. The service was excellent. All of the food amazing. Would have never guessed the burrata at a seafood restaurant would be that good but it was better than a lot of the Italian places I've eaten. The fried banana cheesecake dessert was worth saving the room for! Lovely outside patio area- great for a perfect lunch or sunset dinner. Good specials too.

Guppy's on the Beach is absolutely divine! Located right across from the beach, it's the perfect spot for a great meal after soaking up some sun. The food was finger-licking good--every bite was flavorful and fresh. The service was excellent, making the whole experience even better. I already can't wait to return. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and check this place out. It's a must-visit! Oh and do yourself a favor and get the dessert.

I got fish n chips. It was delicious. Mostly the batter used on the fish and fries It was perfectly crispy but not too much. Very tasty. The fish was fresh. It Suprised me how tasty it was. The rest of My family got various meals and all Loved it

We went on Valentine's Day and though it was crowded we had great service and a delicious meal. The pork chop was one of the best I've ever had, with a sweet and savory sauce. My husband's filet was cooked perfectly and he loved the lobster and blue cheese topping. The atmosphere was comfortably casual and the prices were reasonable.

Went for dinner, unfortunately late for our reservation but happily we were able to be seated on the deck outside as we requested. Our server Kristen was pleasant and made good recommendations. I ordered the shrimp with Kalamata olives and feta over fried green tomatoes. My husband had the scallops and crab with sundried tomatoes over fettuccini. Portions were ample and I brought 1/2 of my dinner home (looking forward to leftovers for lunch tomorrow!) We were very pleased with the food quality, value and taste. We will absolutely return!
