Quaint little bottle shop that’s family-owned and operated. Their claim to fame is their made-to-order deli sandwiches. Their bread (baked in-house) is potentially the best I’ve ever had on a deli sandwich. Gurney’s is so popular in the area that during peak summer months, you should plan on getting there around 11am if you don’t want to wait in a 30+ minute line that goes out the door. NO TOMATOES, so don’t ask! Trust me, you won’t miss ‘em.

A popular sandwich stop for good reason! Bread tastes fresh and food tastes great. The Train Wreck seems to be a crowd favorite. For those who like a little "zing", ask for spicy pepper cheese, banana peppers and dijon mustard.

Their Roast beef Sandwiches are great. The problem is that they turn off their phones and half the times that I have driven a 45 minutes to get there, they are out of one or multiple items: 1.) Roast beef and rye bread 2.) Roast beef and Colby cheese 3.) All bread I get there around noon so it's not like they are running out near closing time.

Huge thanks to my friend Alison C for the rec to head to Gurney's for sandwiches recently... Yes, there was a long line, and yes - it's cash only, but it's 100% worth it! My SIL, daughter and I picked up sandwiches, drinks and chips and took them to the nearby park overlooking the water. We took advantage of the picnic tables, nearby restrooms, and corn hole games and it was a memorable experience for all of us! The sandwiches are simple but delicious! Note: they don't have tomatoes, but they have plenty of other ingredients and very friendly staff! Go check it out - you will not regret it!

Gurney's sandwich's are out of this world! You will never find a better sandwich than gurneys, their bread is fresh and baked right away in the morning. Gurneys meat is the best meat I have ever had. The line is a little so make sure to get there early. Gurneys makes the line fast and the employees make sure they get you out of there to enjoy your sandwich fast. The scenery is very nice with cool pictures of Harbor Springs and liquor.

Always a great sandwich and experience at Gurneys! Expect the line to be long mid day when it's a summer beach day, but they're quick to get people through. I'm a fan of the turkey with whatever toppings I'm feeling. They always have great canned drink options as well, I love the local kombucha with a bag of chips, and you can't forget the pickle!

While a first rate liquor store and purveyor of salty snacks, pop, etc, everyone knows it's all about the sandwiches. Served until they run out fresh baked daily bread you can either line up or call in. Family run operation and it shows. Cash only though. Try a trainwreck and don't ask for tomatoes! (I add my own later!). Say yes to the pickle in the bag. You won't regret it!

Bring back Ginny's Deli Sauce!! Gurneys makes their own now and believe me...it's not the same thing!! Ginny's made the "Train Wreck " sandwich legendary since the early 70's! Train Wreck= Turkey, Ham, Salami, Roast Beef, Provolone, Lettuce and GINNYS DELI SAUCE! Add a bag of chips, a pop from the cooler, grab your pickle at the register (no credit cards, cash only) and out the door in just a few minutes. I've been doing this for years and years a few times each month. I'm a local and sorely disappointed! Please...if it ain't broke..don't fix it!! We want...no we NEED...Ginny's Deli Sauce to come back!!!

These sandwiches are great but the tuna is not tuna, it's mackerel. So: if you are a quasi-vegetarian and thinking of having either the veggie sandwich (which is terrific) or the tuna, which is actually blended-up mackerel and totally disgusting, have the veggie. The meat-eaters in my family refuse to come here anymore because they say they use the cheapest available meats. I can now confirm...this is true. But the bread is wonderful and it's terrific if you're in a pinch. But DON'T EAT THE TUNA. ("Tuna.")

Expect a long line for a sandwich but it'll be worth it, and the staff behind the counter DO move fast. Everything was fresh as can be and delicious. I recommend you go on the early side (like 10) so you skip the lunchtime rush.

I can always ask for a suggestion and get a a good choice of wines. Special orders are available. Tthey only take cash or check so be prepared . I don't even think that anywhere could even come close to matching these sandwiches. Everyone who lives or comes to harbor springs regularly knows that Gurney's is the place for the best fast and amazing lunch in town. Whenever I come to harbor springs I rely on Gurney's about 60% of the time for lunch. Gurney's is reliable, quick, fast, and easy. I normally get roast beef on rye bread with provolone, cucumbers, and mild peppers and deli sauce to top it off. I highly recommend this order however you can't go wrong at Gurney's. Please try this amazing lunch spot!

This is the 22nd summer we have patronized Gurney's Bottle Shop for what has always been some of the most delicious sandwiches available anywhere. They were so good I would overlook the fact that they refuse to take credit cards. While occasionally trying some of their other sandwiches, my go-to has always been their tuna salad on whole wheat with a slice of provolone cheese and lettuce. Today's sandwiches were not of the same caliber as in the past. I don't know if they use an outside supplier or make their tuna salad in-house, but the tuna was definitely bland. While very moist, we couldn't really discern any taste of Mayonnaise or other condiment so the source of the moistness was mystifying. Also, the bread did not seem as exceptional as in the past.

The kind person did offer me a day old sandwich that someone never picked up. She didn't even try to charge me. Very nice and I would stop back next time I am in town. I've had the same Gurney's sandwich every time since I was 10 (probably a dozen times a year, for 24 years). This one time, my mom accidentally got mustard on my sandwich. I was not pleased. My ideal last meal would be a ham and colby on white with mayo. Absolute perfection.

I live in California now, Gurney's. Did I tell you this? Remember last time we hung out? It was last summer, and one of the days you ran out of bread. That was quite the pickle you put me in (get it?). It is ok though because I bought 8 Sandwiches in total during my week stay. I'll be back again this July.

We heard about the sandwiches from a friend and decided that we needed to try them. My wife and I showed up a little before they closed and found out they only accepted cash. We had to go across the street to get cash. I didn't mind that they were out of a couple things right before closing. But because of that and that they don't take credit cards I can't give them 5 stars. The sandwiches are really good and would be better if you could get what you came in for. Maybe next time.

Gurney's has been a favorite of harbor springs for a very long time. The sandwich are delicious, but for the price they are small and they add on extras for veggies. The bread here is the real winner and what makes the sandwiches great! The reason for the 3 star review is this place is not only a sandwich place but also a liquor store. The liquor selection is small, and they do not carry a lot of local products. They also mark up there prices a lot, but being downtown harbor it's not surprising.

My wife and I live in CO but she is from Livonia. When we go back for the summers we will usually head north. If we are within 2 hours of this place, we are getting a sandwich. The best way I can describe them is this... imagine you had a really tough day at work and you come home to your mother making you a bomb homemade sandwich add their amazing homemade bread and you have a winner. When I went this summer I got a train wreck, which if you don't know what to get this is a safe bet, and they had rosemary chicken as their special so I got that as well. The sandwiches are a good size I just happened to be super hungry. Best decision if you are anywhere up north!

Well established family run store on Main. Very nice wine selection. The gem here is their deli in the back. Fresh baked bread daily, hearty portions of deli meats and several other sandwich options make this a perfect spot to grab a lunch to go before a day on the water or at the beach. There will be a line in the summer but it goes fast and is worth the wait. Make sure to get their deli sauce!

Enjoyed this little stop so much we've been twice so far in our week-long trip, letting me try the Wreck (heaps of fresh meat with cheese, add lettuce and pepponcini) and a tasty salami sandwich. I have been eating here since high school in the 80's - the most amazing sandwiches. It's the bread (baked fresh on-site) and shaved deli meat. My standard is turkey with colby on white. I have driven 6 hours round trip just for a Gurney's fix. I also have nightmares 2-3x per year where I have visited Harbor Springs and left the town without getting a Gurney's. Strange? Yes. But an absolute must if you are anywhere near by. Also - I hate tomatoes so I 100% support their decision to not allow tomatoes anywhere near the store.

It is paramount that you enter this sandwich shop and savor Gurney's delicious sandwiches. It is the first food oriented thing I think of when getting up to Harbor Springs/Petoskey. The people are very nice. I wish that there were one in every town I will ever live in. They sell booze too and if you're lucky they might have YooHoo in the cooler.
