I had the Bison burger, it was pretty good. Not mad at it at all. The fries were great, but they were a pricey add on. That being said a small fries fed two so honestly it's really fair, go for the add on! My wife liked her burger with Canadian bacon. The kid's menu burger came dry and plain, nothing on it. I'd like to add the kids menu meal included an awesome sized portion of these amazing fries! They had this crazy good dill mustard at the table, you have to try it.

Great place! I ordered the bison burger with a small order of fries and a lavender cider. Perfect dinner for a hot evening! The staff was amazing, friendly and very observant. Our order was received in good time, served hot and so delicious. Will definitely come eat here again on my next trip to Leavenworth.

Gustav's is one of the first spots you’ll notice as you enter the market area in Leavenworth, and we were excited to try their vegetarian options. We were particularly interested in the Garden Ortega Burger, and ended up ordering three of them. The burger comes with a black bean patty (nicely grilled), Monterey Jack cheese (I had it for the first time—surprisingly creamy and almost potato-like in texture!), fresh veggies, and a side of salsa. Since we're vegetarians, we skipped the mayo as it contains egg, and also requested to switch the brioche bun (which also has egg) for a baguette instead. They were happy to accommodate all our customizations. We also chose to replace the fries, which are fried in the same oil as non-vegetarian items, with one Strawberry Spinach Salad to share. I was initially a bit skeptical, but the sweet strawberries paired with the fresh spinach made for a surprisingly delicious and refreshing combo! We also considered the tomato soup but skipped it upon learning it contains chicken broth—glad they were transparent about ingredients. We arrived around 8:15 PM, just as the restaurant was preparing to close, but the staff—especially our server (we think his name was Jose, based on the receipt)—was incredibly helpful and welcoming. He brought out the full ingredient list, patiently addressed all our questions, and helped us build a meal that fit our dietary needs. Even though it was close to closing time, they didn’t rush us and allowed us to sit and enjoy our meal comfortably. Overall, a great experience for vegetarians if you're mindful and ask the right questions. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, and the food was satisfying and fresh. Would definitely recommend Gustav's to fellow vegetarians visiting Leavenworth!

I had such a delightful experience dining at Gustav's with my friends on their roof terrace. Such a gorgeous view and lovely setting with flower boxes and tables with umbrellas. There is even a mister from above for hot days. I have celiac so was a bit nervous eating somewhere new. Our waitress Crystal went above and beyond to make sure I had a good, safe as can be meal. There are few gluten free options and if I remember right they are also vegetarian options. I'm pretty use to a small number of dishes to choose from, so it didn't bother me. My vegetarian braut sandwich was super yummy, though I'd ditch the gluten-free bun next time as it fell apart pretty quickly as they often do. I also want to compliment Angel for excellent service as well!

Google
Came her for lunch/dinner. We were immediately seated and we got to sit outside, on their rooftop area with amazing view to the mountain! We had the shareables of cheese curds, pretzel bread, small fries (yes that's that in the picture, which was enough for 3 people), and the shareable sausages with grilled onion. My drink came in this souvenir bucket that I get to keep after, which was cute. Apparently this restaurant was super close to the area where Alphorn Association of North America gather before they started walking towards downtown to perform. It was so fun to hear them from the rooftop. Although this location also right next to the main street where cars drive by, it wasn't loud at all we could still talk. Amazing view, wonderful service. Would recommend to anyone and would come back again in the future. Prost!

Google
The only letdowns were the fries. For one, the full size entrees don’t all come with fries or any sides at all. On the other, the fries just weren’t good. Some people like to have a whole potato sliced and tossed in the deep fryer, but when they’re not crispy or seasoned, it’s going to be divisive. We also ordered a side of fries and were brought (and charged $10!!) for a large order. Negatives aside, everything else was great. Burgers were great, drinks were great, almost wait time—all the good things. If they fix the fry situation, they’d be a hard place to top for a solid, fresh bite to eat! (The burgers were extremely fresh, too—huge plus.) Giving it 3 of 5 because of what feels like a switcheroo on the fries and the price gouging because of the season. We get it—everyone gets it—but it still kinda sucks. If you like the kind of fries they have and have disposable income, you’ll be entirely happy. Overall, we’d recommend grabbing a burger and a brew, keeping the meal light, and getting back to enjoying the town. This was a very tasty spot.

We are trying to see as much of Washington as we can before our cruise. We drove out to Leavenworth for part of a day. We decided to try Gutav's. It was wonderful!! We thought they might have more Bavarian style foods available, but what we got was 10 out of 10. We got the pretzel sticks with cheese sauce and the schnitzel burger. Crystal was our server and did a phenomenal job.

Paula Toglia

Google
Super good food! And the gluten free bun was delish! Ordered the Gustav burger and my sister had the Bison burger. We shared the smaller basket of fries which was more than enough.

Yelp
Ok, the root beer is incredible. The beer list is solid and diverse, the food is great, service is friendly and quick, and it's a great location. Highly recommend.

Yelp
When visiting Leavensworth you will need to find a place that provides good food and drinks in a warm comfortable environment with a reasonable wait time. Gustav's is the place you will want to visit as it hits all the good marks with a wide arrange of choices to eat. Seasonal cocktails are out of this world whether it is summer or winter. Food is always hot and delivered with a smile. Wait staff was great everyone was. Give it a try -

Yelp
Always our first stop when we visit. Fantastic service with Crystal, ideal location & food is always so good! Their customer playlist is a loop of all my favorite music which makes our stop here that much more enjoyable.

Yelp
I loved the schnitzel burger here! Bratwurst burger was also really good. Our server was so friendly and attentive; overall we had a great time!

Yelp
We weren't expecting much from this place but this ended up being a favorite of ours and was happy to end our trip with this meal! We came for an early dinner on a Sunday night around 5pm. It was less busy and had lots of seating indoors and outdoors. I would recommend sitting outdoors as they have such a great view to enjoy your meal. The burgers were huge and ended up having to take both home for leftovers. The fries were delicious as well. The chicken wings were a little bit on the salty side but they were huge! Our server was so friendly and gave us excellent service. Would definitely come back here again if we're ever in the area again!

Yelp
We were visiting the area for 5 days & wish we'd discovered this place sooner! Friendly, efficient service, great food & good prices especially for being a touristy area where prices are inflated! The Schnitzel Burger was amazing & don't pass up on the hand cut fries!

Yelp
Stopped in during a Leavenworth visit for some burgers and fries. Huge place.... Wasn't expecting it from the looks on the outside. Great location at the end of the village. Customer service was warm and welcoming. Burgers were well seasoned. Bread was a little less desirable. Not many options for kids. Kids menu chicken strips were almost interesting texture and flavor.

Yelp
We went here for an early (4 pm) dinner. We sat upstairs. Crystal was our server. Crystal was excellent. My wife and I ordered a Brat and a Weisswurst to share. The Brat was your typical Brat but the Weisswurst was really good. I told Crystal I was considering ordering the pretzel until I saw it was pretzel sticks. Crystal said, " they're so good that if you order and don't like them I'll take it off your bill." Based on that, I ordered them. My wife and I agreed; the best we ever had! I don't know why Gustav's has a mediocre rating. The Icecycle ale and the Paulaner Hefeweissen were good, too. If you go, hopefully, Crystal is working and you get her as your server.

Yelp
This place is your typical touristy themed family eatery with a log cabin feel on the inside. Our server was sweet and attentive, and it was a very busy Saturday afternoon. We got pickle fries, regular fries, schnitzel burger and a sausage. The pickle fries were not what I was expecting, not spears as described on the menu but more like shoestring fries. Taste was fine, just not what I wanted. Regular fries seriously lacked any seasoning, even salt. Schnitzel burger was delicious, and definitely the best thing we ate. Smoked sausage was tasty, got upsold on grilled onions but I would skip them next time.

Yelp
Gustavs has had a special place in my heart for probably 40 years now. Whether it was after kayaking, the Wenatchee, hiking up to the Enchantments or just camping up Icycle Creek Road it was always the last stop to enjoy their fabulous burger on the open air deck looking at the mountains. So glad to see some things never change!

Yelp
I dined at this restaurant during my trip to Leavenworth and I was pretty disappointed even though the place was quite busy and ambiance was popping. 1. Starting with the food- We ordered: i) Pretzel sticks with cheese sauce : Super yum, came out piping hot with a unique cheese sauce ii) Chicken Ortega and Salmon Burgers : Below Average and priced way too much for the quality and taste P.S: a) The burgers don't come with a side of fries or anything- They need to be ordered separately b) We ordered the small french fries- Too dried out and chewy c) We asked for Chicken Ortega burger without the bacon and it still came with the bacon, which we realized after eating half of it - it was a bummer. We let the waitress know immediately and they dismissed the charge for the messed up burger. So that was some decent service I guess. But, based on the overall experience I don't think we will go back again.

Yelp
It's lunch time on a Monday. They took our party of 5 right in. Got our drinks and order in quickly. Friendly service. Clean. Comfortable. Glad we left the Kristall's restaurant to come here.

Yelp
Take my review with a grain of salt. I came with a large group of people and we only tried appetizers here. It may be possible they make some incredible burgers. We had several appetizers including sweet potato tater tots, fries, onion rings and fried mushrooms. In my honest opinion the appetizers were at best okay. Tater tots were surprisingly good. Everyone in the group tasted it and loved it. On the other hand all the other appetizers were too oily. They tasted decent but we were not expecting something so oily. As far as service goes we were served by a very sweet young lady. She really took good care of our order and totally understood that we were pressed for time. She did a fantastic job serving us quickly.

Yelp
Great food. Great experience. Service was amazing. I highly recommend this place. Upstairs had a nice view.

Yelp
Ordered salmon sandwich. Everyone in my larty got the food except me. They told me they had to remake my sandwich because they dropped it. It took forever and when it finally came out, I was able to tell the sourdough buns, vege and sauce wasn't new since the buns were soaking wet from sauce and wilted(half cooked) vege sitting on it for too long. Salmon, though it tasted freshly cooked(hot), it was flavorless. Friendly service, but the waiter forgot to bring stuff we asked for... so yeah. Probably won't be returning even if I am in the area.

Yelp
Good beer selection and right temperature. The menu has just enough to find something you like. The food came out hot and ready to eat. The staff was great. The manager Naomi was very nice and great to chat with. They have rooftop and dining room seating. Not a wait for anything. Everything came out in a good time.
google avatar

Yelp
Loking for lunch with a taste of Bavarian goodness? This place has enough to satisfy all taste buds. Great pretzel and beer cheese, Reuben and pickle fries. Satisfied the appetite without ease. Quiet on a Sunday around noon.
google avatar

Yelp
Great German food with an authentic German restaurant ambiance. It has an extra warm an cozy feeling in the winter. Maybe its the fireplace?. Staff professional.
google avatar

Marques J.

Yelp
Arguably, the best preset sticks in all of Leavenworth. The beers are cold and amazing. I did, however, not like that they wouldn't let us leave our 6 month old daughter in her car seat. They made ua wake her up and take her out in order to eat for "fire safety" reasons. I argued well if there's a fire obviously we'd want her in her car seat. Much easier to carry and he head & neck are stabilized if we have to run.

Angela N.

Yelp
Schnitzel Burger and the great old fashioned crispy brown fries were great!!! Also, loved the huckleberry beer! It was so unique! The Icicle beer was crisp and easy drinking. The beautiful wood work made the ambiance nice. It was raining so we couldn't sit on the patio.
google avatar

Yelp
This was our final restaurant meal, before we left Leavenworth. I ordered the Ortega Burger and my husband ordered the Schnitzel Burger. Both were delicious! We ordered a side of their homemade French fries-- not our fave. They reminded us of In 'N Out burger fries, if you've ever been to one. They had that "dry" texture that we're not fond of. No big deal, because the burgers were really good. Great place with hearty servings.

Pia P.

Yelp
this place used to have such good food it kind of fell off im not sure if i just remembered it better than it was or there was a downgrade in service. Sucks i had time for 2 meals and wasted one of them here.

Yelp
My wife and I had friends over from Finland and we decided to visit Leavenworth and stumbled upon Gustav's. The ambience was great, the place was authentic, and the food was even better. If you go, you try the pickle fries and onion rings; excellent! After arriving back to our house in Seattle, our friend realized he left his $250 Oakley sunglasses at the restaurant. I figured it was a longshot, but I called to see if anyone turned them in. I was amazed when they told me our server found the glasses, put them in locked storage, and they shipped the glasses to my house no charge. Kudos!!!

Olga G.

Yelp
The service was great but the food does not fit the name! Fish and chips were gross. Will not come back.
google avatar

Al T.

Yelp
This place has been there forever and it's obviously much more user-friendly than some of the other more-authentic German restaurants around. At Gustav's, they have American faire and it's very good. I am a sucker for Reuben sandwiches and theirs is better than most. Prices are good. Most restaurants nowadays are almost unaffordable for most people out there as wages have not caught up with costs. Anyhow, if you visit Leavenworth, you will want to hit Gustav's for lunch or dinner!!
google avatar

Michele L.

Yelp
homey site for a satisfying bite to eat. service is laid back and friendly. burgers are very good, fries are perfect. the "quilter's irish death" stout went down nice and easy smooth. try the "great nog of fire" if you have the opportunity - yum. we are going back!

Kelly C.

Yelp
The food was terrible the service was even worse, I will never eat there again nor would I recommend anyone else to! I only put a 1 star because it made me otherwise it would be a 0 star!

Dennis I.

Yelp
Just not my cup of tea. I had the Schnitzel Burger, and it was ok but more bun and sauerkraut than Schnitzel. My wife had Fish and Chips, we were going to go to have German food but our favorite restaurant (The Keller) was closed for remodeling) and she ended up not liking anything on the menu so she tried the F&C. The fish was oily as were the fries so pretty much inedible. She scraped the coating off and ate the fish. I screwed up and should have read the reviews first, other restaurants were busy, not this one. Save your money.

Yelp
I came in for Oktoberfest for lunch on Friday, and the food was outstanding. I love the fries. The Service was great
google avatar

Dystopian P.

Yelp
the food was great, the server was a rude little punk. Second worst service I had all weekend.
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
Yeah I really liked Gustavs. Lots of great beer selections and plenty of liquor. Really enjoyed the service here as well. It's a little spendy however I think that's just how it goes in Leavenworth. They could use a couple more TV's at the bar as well but overall great place. My burger was fantastic and whatever you do...order the fries with it.
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
For leavenworth, it's fine. Nothing amazing. Their menu is mostly burgers and sausages in a bun. The service was great. The cheese curds were amazing. The beer was satisfying.
google avatar

Claire N.

Yelp
Absolutely recommend coming here and eating on the rooftop patio with the cooking sprinklers during the summer. The schnitzel burger was really unique and delicious- everything else was your usual burgers, brats and sandwiches (although my friends did try the bison burger and really liked it too). Large fries are enough for 4 people! Would come here again next time I'm in Leavenworth
google avatar

Yelp
Gustav's is a nice restaurant located in the center of Leavenworth, right at the beginning the Main Street. They accommodated our party of 24 people pretty easily in one of their dining rooms down below away from the main entrance. It was almost as if we had our own private dinging room. The server was very efficient and organized and knew the menu pretty well. Some of their stuff was cooked in a meat based oil/broth so some of our guests were unable to eat most of the food there. The burger I ordered was okay and the side of Mac and cheese was, to be very honest, straight from the Kraft box of Mac and Cheese. Same texture, shape, color, and taste. Everyone else seemed satisfied with their meals so not a bad choice if you have a large party but I probably wouldn't come here by myself and opt for a nicer place down the street.

Nicole M.

Yelp
Here is my tip for eating in Leavenworth: Go where there is a wait and wait for a good meal. The restaurants on the strip without a line, such as Gustav's, are not worth the convenience. Seriously - run while you can! I ordered the Wild Salmon on Greens (see photo). How is it you can run a restaurant in Washington, home of the best salmon on earth, and serve a piece of fish that looks like this? Dried out, burnt, absolutely disgusting. I was literally speechless when they dropped it off at our table. I did approach the waiter - to make sure he could see what was delivered. I asked him if this is what the meal should look like, thinking he would surly snap it up and bring out a meal that had been cooked correctly. Nope - he only confirmed that that was normal and said "sorry". Friends - it tasted just a bad as it looked! As for the others at the table - my teenager at about 1/4 of his burger. He can eat 3 or 4 burgers for one meal and he was starving - if that gives you an idea of how terrible it was. How on earth do you make a burger taste bad to a teen? The others at our table were less than happy but at least their dishes were edible. It is such a shame to have such a beautiful restaurant in such an ideal location offer such horrible food and terrible service (they acknowledge and could care less than their food is disgusting). Never again!

Yelp
The atmosphere was awesome and the staff were very nice and helpful. Very down to earth and helpful. I had the Pepper Jack burger, others had the Brat and NOC, reg cheeseburger, Mac and cheese, and all said they were very good. We had to purchase the fries separately, which I think is very un American. Everywhere you go and we ask those in our group, we always say we want a good burger and fries place. The 2 go together Joni and Potsy, ice cream and apple pie! In the end, the food was about 3.5 stars, price was set a bit higher probably due to the holidays.
google avatar

Makayla J.

Yelp
We ordered the pretzel sticks, onion rings, Caesar salad, pork cutlet burger and fries. Every single thing was absolutely delicious! I loved the pretzels. The fries were cooked perfectly, fluffy inside potato, crisp on the outside. My husband loved his burger and I loved the salad. Onion rings were yummy, heavily battered but still good. Service was quick and friendly! It was a little chilly even though we sat by the fireplace, but it was also -6 out haha so everywhere was cold. We come here every time we visit Leavenworth!
google avatar

Richard L.

Yelp
Just dropped in for a quick bite for lunch. Same fast, friendly service we've become accustomed to. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Unless you're really hungry or have a big group, stick with the small order of fries. The servings are generous.
google avatar

Shawn M.

Yelp
Really tasty food. Very attentive service. Ordered bison burger and small dinner salad. Bison burger was delicious as was salad. Thought I ordered $7 small salad but brought out and charged for $17 full dinner salad. Too late. Ate what we could and take out box for salad. Bit pricey for salad, but burger had right combo of taste and price. Thought about ordering draft beer, but a bit steep at $8.50 a pint, more than Seattle prices. You pay for ambience and location. Would visit and order again, just make sure small dinner salad next time.

Keaton A.

Yelp
Amazing staff and food. Best of water in town chairs were ok and the tables were clean and smooth.
google avatar

Cindy P.

Yelp
Love the view from the roof top patio where you can enjoy ambience of the surrounding mountains. The food is good for some American German cuisine. The sides are extra with most of the sandwich options. The staff is trying but needs to be more engaged with the customer experience. The beer was cold and several different selections were available on tap.
google avatar

Keegan C.

Yelp
Probably my favorite place in town best well rounded everything and the ghost pepper cheese curds are amazing!
google avatar

Dan H.

Yelp
This used to be our go to spot. Not any more... had the house salad with "mixed greens" which would have made better rabbit feed! It was mega dry and old! Three of us had the salad and no one finished them. What a waste... it's a real shame, as this was a phenomenal spot to eat at ...
google avatar

Meagan G.

Yelp
Huge restaurant with a large seating capacity. Only 2 adults in our party and we were seated immediately on a busy Saturday afternoon. Kind service and fairly quick service! Contrary to many reviews, we felt that the food was very good and the sauerkraut was just right on our brautwurst. Really enjoyed the bread with the brat as well. Very tasty spiced wine (served hot, with an orange slice and cinnamon stick). 4 stars only because it was really crowded and noisy, and needed more staff dedicated to keeping the floors and bathrooms from the foot traffic clean.

Nicole K.

Yelp
Your usual burger joint, nothing that really stands out about this place except the cheese curds. Some odd burger combinations, none of which sound very appealing. Server was very nice, and food service was fast. Has a cabin type feel but dated. Not much to say about this place.
google avatar

Kendall A.

Yelp
Fun place and family friendly! Our service Quentin was helpful and really nice, he made us out of towners feel welcome, definitely go here!
google avatar

Carson C.

Yelp
Gustav's is a nice, family friendly, Euro themed restaurant just southwest of the main center of town. The feature a few local beers, have a bar, and rooftop area. The atmosphere inside is rustic/craftsman and acceptably clean. Our server recommended the pork schnitzel burger on pretzel bun. I got mine without the red kraut and it was awesome. My wife enjoyed her salmon burger but said too much slaw. The kids enjoyed their chicken and mac & cheese. I'm pretty sure the M&C was from a Kraft box though! I wouldn't call Gustav's a must do, however if you're struggling to choose a place to eat it's absolutely worth the visit. Pro-tip. There is a stroller friendly entrance right off the Hwy 2 side of the restaurant.
google avatar

Michele G.

Yelp
A friend told us to stop in and we did! We were so glad that we did! Fantastic service, attentive and friendly. Food was great and the specialty cocktails were amazing. I would recommend getting on their waitlist if you go, it makes it so easy to get a table. We will come back the next time we are in Leavenworth!

Brandy G.

Yelp
Been to Leavenworth many times and never had Gustavs. Our family went there for dinner last night to try it out. We had to wait but that wasn't the problem. The problem was our lackluster of service and food. Our waiter had no personality and was very monotone when speaking with us. Then there was the food.....a couple of us ordered the fish and chips and it was just gross. The batter was so greasy that it made the cod taste like it had been sitting in a grease trap all day. The fries could have been cooked longer and were under done as well. Everyone else said their food was alright so I can't give as bad of a review. But I will not be back myself.
