If you’re looking for more than just a great meal, this is the spot. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted not only by the wonderful owners but also by a warm, loving atmosphere that feels like family. The food is absolutely fantastic—every bite tastes like it was made with care and passion. What makes this place even more special are the local regulars. They aren’t just friendly—they’re genuinely welcoming and accepting, as if they’ve known you forever. It’s rare to find a restaurant where the community itself becomes part of the experience, but that’s exactly what happens here. Whether you’re stopping by for the first time or the hundredth, you can feel the heart and soul poured into everything—from the dishes to the people. You must try this place; it’s not just a restaurant, it’s a home away from home.

Absolutely delicious stewed pork for lunch. The hot sauce was fantastic! Bring cash, cash only. Richard and Lourdes were extremely accommodating and told some very funny stories. There is some great memorabilia hanging from the walls. Bring your car plates to leave your mark! Can’t wait to visit again

Gutside Cafe has the best food on the island hands down! The owners are super friendly! They even gave us mangos for breakfast the next day before our flight takes off! Bonus points: bring a license plate for them to hang up on their wall! Extra note: I would come back to Sint Maarten just for Gutside Cafe and the lovely owners!

No regrets going to Gutside! A creole treat!! We brought our young, adventurous kids, and they devoured it too- asking to come back right away! The story of how the restaurant was built will continue to inspire me. Thank you Uncle Richard and Mrs. Lourdes for your hospitality and using your gifts to fill our bellies!! Will be back!!

First off, the food and hospitality are off the charts. Some good, flavorful food was truly appreciated, especially coming from St. Barths, where seasoning was lacking at a lot of spots. The mosquitos seemed to take a liking to my wife and I, but Lourdes promptly provided mosquito repellent for us to use. Lastly, I woke up not feeling too well and by the time the food arrived, I felt nauseous. My eyelids were heavy and I felt that I had to just lay down and rest. Richard noticed that I didn't look too well, ran to the kitchen, and brought me some special medicine from the back. He said I should be all good in 10 minutes. He took me to the back patio to lie down on the couch, and brought my plate of food, covered. Like a miracle, after a brief sweating session, and maybe 10-12 minutes of resting, my nausea was gone, and a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. My fatigue was gone, my appetite was back, and I proceeded to clear my plate. This place will always have a special place in my heart because our honeymoon was looking like it was going to take a turn for the worst.

This is a great local restaurant. The owner is a pretty chill guy. The food was good and at a decent price as well. If you're on the island driving around, stop in and give it a try.

Had to check out this spot after seeing only 5 star reviews, and now I know why. Visited Friars Bay Beach, but decided to get take out lunch, rather than eat at one of the beach restaurants. The food at Gutside is really tasty and authentic. Had the Garlic Shrimp and the Pork meals. The vegetable rice was also delicious. Food is freshly prepared and hosts are amazing. Strongly recommend this place.
