After a long hike, my husband and I just wanted to find some food nearby and (luckily) went to Gutside Cafe. Out of our whole week and a half on the island, I still dream about the snapper filet I had here. One of the best meals of my life!! Owners/staff are so friendly, too. Definitely recommend!

I went with my friend at 6:30 one evening. The owner was closing because it was empty but stayed open just for us. The food was amazing and the owner was an incredible guy. Took pride in his restaurant serving local food. Outdoor seating atmosphere and music added to the experience. Prices were reasonable. Highly recommend.

We tried so many delicious restaurants on my bachelorette and one of my faves was Gutside Cafe! Not only is it amazing local food but we met the owner Uncle Richard and he was so great! The first night we tried to eat there he was unfortunately all sold out (I told you the food is good!) so he recommended we try another spot. He then happened to join us for dinner and he was such great company! He gave me wedding advice and gave all of us life advice as well as told us the history of Sint Maarten. It was such a great night! We obviously had to try his restaurant before we left so we went the next night and although he was closed, he told us he couldn’t refuse us twice so he opened up his restaurant for us and cooked us an intimate dinner! We told him to surprise us with a dish and he cooked us stewed pork with so much flavor, rice, garden salad, and a fried plantain. We also tried his wife’s homemade spicy sauce and it was so good I brought a bottle home! I highly recommend Gutside Cafe, not just for the food but because Uncle Richard is a one in a million kind of person! I can’t wait to go back.

We popped in here for dinner on a rainy night this week and were both shocked & honored to be the only guests. The husband & wife owners could not have been more welcoming and kind. It truly felt like we were welcomed into their own home for an authentic dinner. The setting is very casual and eclectic with license plates and trinkets on the walls. It is not very fancy & the menu is smaller but do not let that fool you! The food was truly fantastic & the owners were so welcoming but not overbearing in the least. I had the chicken and my husband the stewed pork - both came with fried plantains, rice & beans, and sautéed peppers, onions, and corn. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. The owner offered some scotch bonnet hot sauce which added an additional kick that we both loved! We will absolutely be back next time we are in SXM!

This small family owned bar and restaurant is a must stop if you are looking for great authentic local fare in the Marigot area. The owners were very welcoming, sincere and funny. Be prepared to wait a bit for your food as it’s prepared fresh but the beer was the coldest we’ve had on the island. Great value for money too!

Wow! An amazing meal in a beautiful spot. And the proprietors took the experience to a whole new level. Chatting with Richard, the legend himself, was a real treat. The not-so-secret ingredient is definitely love.

We all had either the ribs or the whole snapper. It was all superb. The two who run the restaurant are so kind and lovely. Hardest part was the drive (due to traffic on the way) but it was very worth it!
