Hidden spots on Jeju Island that only the locals know of - SilverKris

"A lesser-known Buddhist complex dating back to the Tamra Dynasty (BC 476–1005 AD), the site sits a bus stop from the hiking route that leads to Hallasan's summit and comprises a main shrine, bell tower and pavilion set amid forest where Jeju roe deer often roam. Visitors can stroll the temple grounds and surrounding woods or spend a night on-site to take part in meditation sessions." - SilverKris

We went for the Gwaneumsa trial on the way up , took us around 5 hours You need to have intermediate to fit fitness level to be able to do it. Or you can have plenty of breaks and take it slow but there’s cut off time. DONT forget your water and snacks , there’s nothing on the way up. (I would take 3-4 water bottles and plenty of snacks) Way down takes around 3 hours. Total duration for up and down is 7-8 hours :) You need to book in advance on the website. So be prepared and other than that beautiful scenery throughout and very meditative.

Beautiful and peaceful temple. Plenty of areas to explore. Not crowded and I believe you can do a temple stay here. I could've spent more time here. Great break from the crowds in Jeju. Definitely recommend a visit

As a Buddhist, I always made it a point to visit at least 1 temple and this one I really like. Super calming and it turns out to be dedicated to Guanyin so i feel connected.

A beautiful place of serenity and calm for a moment of quiet reflection. The temple grounds were well-maintained and kept safe for visitors, especially as a the time of visit (February) there had been some snowfall.

Big area although the temple itself is not that big. It has big buddha statues. There's a gift shop that only accept cash. There're some pretty cherry blossom trees.

A serene and peaceful temple surrounded by nature. The architecture is stunning, and the surrounding gardens are well-maintained. The temple offers a perfect place for quiet reflection and meditation. Highly recommend visiting

Beautiful temple and grounds Very peaceful Surrounded by nature There are different temple rooms along with a couple of shops to buy offering items and souveniers. There is a coffee shop that sells coffees and teas and light snacks. Unfortunately, the restaurant no longer serves vegetarian meals. When the weather is warm, this would be a great place to meditate outside.

Beautiful views of the hills and surrounding countryside. The temple grounds are large, dotted with small temple halls. Very peaceful to walk and explore while enjoying the natural flora and fauna. Do walk on a clear path - we spotted some snakes in the thick undergrowth. The filming site of k-drama Attorney Woo is located further uphill, away from the main temple grounds.
