Great Japanese curry rice at self serve style restaurant. Reminds me of Shokudo in Japan. Definitely recommend beef STEW curry to enjoy the Iwate wagyu beef. Since their focus is on meat not curry, it would be nice to see more variation such as gyusuji (tendon) and gyutan (tongue) curry. All the toppings we tried were decent. Also liked they come in 3 different sizes. (Pictures were large, mid, and small in that order. Only the small is the stew.) Take home currypan and serfserve fukujinzuke were added plus! My only gripe is their Mon-Fri 12-5 hours.

WA! CURRY (Downtown) **NEWish Restaurant Alert!** 8 Overall 8.7 Food Quality 8 Dining Atmosphere 9 Service 6.5 Value This place opened up a couple of months ago and is part of the ABURI group, most known for Miku and Minami! Anyways, love Japanese curry, so I HAD to try this place! Service was pretty fast. You order on your phone and I had my food within 5minutes. WAGYU CURRY WITH PORK KATSU $21 Wagyu beef curry gravy, green onions, served over steamed rice and deep fried pork cutlet. Overall it was pretty good, but the Wagyu part is a gimmick. There was no part of it that I really tasted any Wagyu. To be completely honest, I do think I’ve had better Japanese Curry from Takeya Sushi, and the Poke Man. Not saying this curry was bad, but I don’t think it’s the best in Vancouver. Pork was amazing! Overall it was a great dish! 8.7/10

This place used to be Ramen Gyoza, that became a victim of the pandemic shutdown and the deterioration of downtown Vancouver. It's a new concept launched by the powerhouse Miku, Minami, Aburi group. The wagyu curry gives them an option to utilize the excess fat from their wagyu beef. The curry is tasty and even a small order is more than enough rice for me. I ordered the oyster furai which turned out to be very little. Next time I should order 2 items like oysters and shrimp or katsu. They serve Japanese pickles that resemble sauerkraut on the side. Expert tip, eat quickly, the high fat content of the wagyu curry will solidify very quickly.

I’ve visited Wa Curry a few times now and the food is always exceptional! The ordering process is mainly self-service, but the staff still make guests feel well taken care of and at home. I was worried that the curry would be too rich because it’s made with wagyu, but it was perfect for my preferences. I tried the wagyu curry with pork katsu, and with soft boiled egg. Both were delicious and offered nice tastes and textures to complement the curry. The curry sauce itself was very flavourful and I constantly crave it. I’m excited to see that they’ve recently expanded their hours to 7 days a week too!

Google
Don't be like me and make this mistake: the base does not include a wagyu katsu!! The wagyu is in the stew/curry and you have to order toppings if you want katsu! I had to order separately cause oops. With that being said, the tonkatsu is delicious! Way better than any I've had so far. So juicy and crispy. Pairs soo well with the curry. Decently priced, although it will get pricier if you want to load it up. Highly recommend! Note: They don't do reservations. Walk in only and secure a table before going up to order.

Google
I love Japanese curry and Wa! Curry really does it well. The restaurant took over the former Gyoza Bar spot and is by the same owners as Miku and Minami. The ingredients taste really fresh and best of all, they use high-quality wagyu in their curries and stews. I ordered the scallop fry this time (delicious and plump), but will definitely try the vegan curry next time with brussel sprouts. The rice to curry ratio is perfect. Medium with one topping was great for lunch. If they happen to have the curry bun available, order it! It's so good with lots of filling.

Google
Very rich curry, very tasty. But some of the rice was mushy, never experienced that in a Japanese restaurant before. Katsu was fattier than my preference and could be a tad larger. Self serve water and pickles available. Free oyster fry for students until July 31st, not too bad. More expensive than other curry places unfortunately.

Google
It's unfortunate that I have to write a negative review. View my profile, I hardly ever speak lowly of food establishments. Summary: High prices, okay curry, bad quality control, misleading stew advertising, pay upfront, default 15% tip (additional steps to skip tip) for zero service. I came here excited to try out a dedicated Japanese curry restaurant, and was left disappointed and frankly a little saddened. We ordered a Wagyu curry with hamburg steak and a Wagyu stew with tonkatsu. The Wagyu curry with hamburg steak would've been fine except for the part where there was a large clump of hard rice that we mistook for a bone. For "premium Iwate rice", this is not acceptable. The Wagyu stew with tonkatsu was okay, except the stew had a single slice of carrot. The images advertised a series of vegetables in the stew including carrots and potatoes, so that was a blatant lie. What restaurant has food that doesn't look like its pictures? This isn't a McDonalds. The tonkatsu was fine though. But that's not all of it. The restaurant puts it onto the customer to seat themselves, get their own water, get their own order when its ready, and to put away their own dishes. And despite all that, the food is also expensive ($13-15 for Wagyu curry, $17-19 for Wagyu stew, no toppings included). You have to pay first online and it automatically sets the tip to 15%, and you have to go through 3 different steps to give a 0% tip. Why do they charge high prices and attempt to spoon feed us a 15% tip when there is no service? The customer has to do everything except for prepare the food, and yet it is this expensive? My Wagyu stew with tonkatsu costs $26 and for that price, I could've gotten better quality food and it would've included actual service. Not coming here again. I have never been this disappointed by an authentic Japanese restaurant before.

Yelp
WA! Curry opened at the former Gyoza Bar. Their signature dish is the A5 Iwate Wagyu Curry. Comes with different sizes of rice and options of extra add-ons. Tried the curry straight and didn't find much with the curry besides chunks of waygu beef. Might try with another topping next time in the area.

Yelp
Pork Bao Buns are to die for. I would request these as my last meal on death row. I love you Gyoza Bar

Yelp
A fast meal for a lunch break. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and the scallop fry.

Yelp
We came here to try the Gyoza Bar x Marukatsu pop up. We thought the katsu was very fresh and juicy and melted in our mouths. Like other katsu places, salad and rice was unlimited although we both didn't need any refills. Not sure how long the pop up will stick around but definitely would love to visit again!

Yelp
I like how it was not packed with people when I went there. The place had enough space to move around and it did not feel stuffy at all. I ordered the recommended Wagyu Curry with Pork Katsu toppings and it tasted so good.

Yelp
Decided to try this place with a friend despite not being big on gyoza in general. Why I didn't like it: - We weren't immediately greeted. Considering there were only half a dozen guests at 5:20 when we arrived, 60 seconds was too long to be seated. - We encountered ants on our table. Enough said. - Everything is overpriced. $6 for 4 gyoza, $14 for any non-vegetarian ramen? Sure, the place might be more high-end than other ramen options, but no. Especially not when you get 1 single piece of pork that's the driest I've ever had in ramen. - My friend who doesn't eat spicy would like to complain that the menu doesn't have enough non-spicy ramen options. Better things: - Our server was excellent and refilled my tea promptly, which doesn't always happen. - I liked the texture of the napkins... - The restaurant is much more spacious and open-concept than most ramen options.

Yelp
First time here. I wasn't sure if we needed to head to the cashier to order our food because it took them 35 mins before I could flagged them down to order. Tried Dine Out Vancouver menu. Can't taste the prawn in the 'tiger prawn' gyoza; the Ramen was quite salty, along with their Japanese curry but rice pudding dessert saved the night. This is more a social gathering then a family diner. The ambience was nice but again, not a family setting.

Yelp
Are you looking for some drinks and gyoza?? This is the place that you are looking for. The place is so nice and clean with some candles to decorate more the place. When you get here, the servers will start to greeting you so nicely and friendly that you feel like home. In this place will you find some nice options on the menu, if you come before 5 or 6 p.m they have happy hour it means gyoza + one beer for a good price... perhaps this is my favourite place for gyoza... but if you don't like gyoza, you will be fine... there are some salads, udon and appetizers as well. I got once the pulled pork Goa and tofu salad, they were so yummy... or if you came just for drinks, they have a nice selection. if you have any question you can ask for help for the waitress or you can check some photos on the yelp! Don't forget to come earlier for take Nice seats or call to make a reservation. Thank you guys and I hope you enjoy like I did!!!

Yelp
I came in on a weekday for lunch. This place was busy! But the wait was still short, I was able to get a table in less than 5 minutes. I ordered the Beef Bulgogi Rice Bowl Set and the food arrived fairly quickly. In the rice bowl, there was a poached egg, beef, and romaine lettuce on top of the rice. I'm always impressed by poached eggs and love how I can mix it into my food. However, I wasn't a fan of the beef because it was pretty dry and I felt like it could've been marinated more. Moving onto the vegetables, I appreciate how they boiled the carrots, I thought they would be hard to chew through, but they turned out to be pretty soft. The other vegetables didn't hold up the same way though, they were covered in too much vinegar and didn't taste quite right. The gyoza and kimchi were okay, no complaints, but also nothing that stands out. Overall, there were definitely a mix of things I liked and disliked about the food and I think that they cancel each other out pretty well to be 3 stars.

Yelp
Nice place to hit up for happy hour and some delicious dumplings and ramen. There are many TVs to watch the game and they offer happy hour (a beer and 4 gyoza for $10). I ordered the veg soy ramen and it was huge! The broth was perfectly salty and a when hot sauce was added, was the perfect broth. Good amount of veg and noodles! It was delicious. Prices are great and service attentive (thank you Oliver)! Will definitely come back again!

Yelp
Finally came into the neighborhood to try this ramen place, this is the same owner of Minami & Miku ("supposed" to be the best Japanese restaurant in Vancouver, that's another story...) I really really really want to like the Tamari-Shoyu Tonkotsu Prok ramen, the basic one here, trust me! But.................. First, the environment of this place is more vibrant and lively than a usual quick eat, with more upbeat music in the background. A menu full of alcoholic drinks on top of the actual food menu. The presentation of this $14 ramen is really so so... the soft boiled was made to perfect, cooked egg white with complete thick egg yolk running inside. However, the appearance of the egg is a bit turn off as it has bites of egg white off, not a smooth pretty little egg. Quality control, people!! I really like that they used broccolini on the side, adds a little bit of texture to the bowl. Plus the green stands out very beautifully. The noodle itself was rather bland, no chew at all, not too fat not too thin, just plain old noodles. Not even a hint of kansui. The noodle is just a sad boring slurps. So this place is part of the Japanese chef who claim to introduce Aburi (flaming sear) to Vancouver. Honestly, I do NOT know the history, but I would thought the chef would also incorporate flaming sear to dishes at this ramen place... but no! The sad fatty thinly cut char siu meat was so bland that could really do a nice aburi to add some charring flavor and aroma to this simple ramen! Really hope to see that in future improvement! As for the soup base, it was quite delicious! That is what I love, full of umami. Hint of yuzu pepper along with the soy sauce base soup. Really love that. Too bad the combination of the soup with the rest ingredients didn't boost up this basic ramen to the top. There is definitely room to be better.

Yelp
Walked past the Marukatsu pop up sign for this and immediately wanted to try it out. Shoutout to @jesslindcee for eating this with me even though we originally were gonna eat poke I got the Katsu bowl and Jess got the Katsu curry. As she said, you can't really go wrong with curry and I agree with her And then we have the Katsu bowl - katsu drizzled with a pesto sauce and mayo, paired with a side of chickpea salad. It definitely had a bit of that Mexican flair in a good way. The salad was nice and refreshing, and the pesto was a nice addition to the katsu. I would say the portions weren't crazy big or anything but they were good enough to feel satisfied. I am quite curious bout the burrito and burger though, so I'll give those a try sometime!

Yelp
This place does not look like much from outside but so cute, cozy and clean. Prices are very reasonable. Staff was very quick, polite, friendly and great with recommendations. Lots of tables, comfortable and hip atmosphere. Small menu but not small on flavor. Had small plates and gyoza. Two of shared 8 gyoza, 1 boa, and curry poutine. Boa is toasted not steamed. Full of tender flavorful pork. I have never had it toasted and it was a great texture. Tried shrimp and pork gyoza. I recommend both but if had to choose one I go with the shrimp had a tangy spice from chilies. These gyoza are perfectly cooked and the wraps are so fresh. Highly recommend this place!!!

Yelp
Maybe I am just spoiled, but I tended to avoid gyoza and dumpling restaurants because my mom makes amazing ones at home. I did come to Gyoza Bar for dineout last year with a $35 menu. I ordered the Fraser pork teppan gyoza, chicken nanban bao board and rice pudding for dessert. In general, $35 is worth it for the amount of food you're getting but it's definitely a more casual place vs. fine dining. The gyozas are yummy but the nanban bao board is like a deconstructed Chinese bao. More on my blog: https://sincerelyloewe.com/gyoza-bar-dine-out-2019/

Yelp
Public Service Announcement - do not look further for outstanding gyoza or ramen noodles. Gyoza Bar has your taste buds covered. The ramen noodle dishes are served in homemade soup made from bone broth, soy, shio to build the flavor and oils to enhance it instead of using MSG. What a concept! I had pork ramen noodles with a side of seared gyozas. The pork broth has a rich silky flavor unlike other restaurant's ramen noodle dishes. It is comfort food at a higher level. I appreciate how GB is a hip and trendy restaurant that appeals to customers of all demographics. It operates in a good space with a menu that offers a good mix of ramen noodles and other Japanese food options. The hostess was polite and attentive. She sat my group right away. The restaurant is organized with the food arriving quickly within 10 mins after it is ordered. The prices are inexpensive. The restaurant is a decent size, it seats probably up to 100 people. The restrooms are clean with a central sink station for men and women to both wash their hands. The only turn off about GB is a video shown on the flat screen t.v. of reptiles killing and eating their prey. It was gorey to watch especially after eating a delicious meal. GROSS. Other than that I love this place and rate it above 5-stars * * * * * * * * * *

Yelp
Used a travelzoo coupon here. Reservations were easy and upon arrival I was seated quickly. Service in general was really really good, with the waiter recommending good mocktail options being patient while we figured out our order. Something to consider- this place is terrible for anyone with a shellfish allergy. A lot of things had oyster sauce, and my boyfriend could not have any gyozas, or any ramen EXCEPT for the veggie ramen, which we then had to pay more to add meat to, to make a non-veggie bowl of ramen... Among a table of three, we shared aioli chicken wings, the lettuce wrapped taco gyoza, 4 pork gyoza, the curry poutine, and I had the grapefruit mocktail. My boyfriend with the allergy had said veggie ramen with meat. The portions for these are small, even for appetizers. I was not really full even after sharing all of this. The taco gyozas were interesting, and the curry poutine was good. The mocktail was also delicious. Pork gyoza were average, as well as the wings.

Yelp
Solid ramen in the downtown area. I wouldn't compare it to the best I've had in Oakland or SF, but it'll get you warm and fill you up! The sake took a while to come out, but outside of that, no complaints about service. After reading Yelp reviews, we did *not* get gyoza, but just edamame. My fiancée got the mule, with no alcohol, which was tall and tasty. On to the ramen! My fiancée had the vegetarian ramen, which could have used less bok choy and more other veggies. I'm also not quite sure why so many ramen joints use soy as a base for their veg ramen instead of just veggie broth. Maybe to mirror the milk from the tonkotsu? Anyway, it was good but had hella noodles, almost too much. I had the tonkotsu, which was good and hit the spot, but didn't quite have that extra magic that makes a fantastic bowl of ramen great. Price was about 50 canadian for both of us.

Yelp
Tricked by the menu it seemed like the pork potstickers were special with sauces, but they turned out to be basic potstickers with sauces on the side for dipping. All my potstickers tore from the walls of the pan. They were just ok Services was great tho. Came quick and hot

Yelp
Came here for Dine Out (dinner) for CNY. We came at 5pm, so there wasn't a lot of people. I liked how they also offer their regular menu on top of their Dine Out menu. We were basically eating nonstop from 12:30pm till now (check out my other two reviews for today - Western Lake Seafood Restaurant and Nelson the Seagull), so my fam were kind of close to tapping out. Not me though, because my stomach is a bottomless abyss. Tbh, after this meal, I still could've ate more lol. DINE OUT Teppan pork gyoza (4/5) I would say that these were pretty good because they were gone in 30 seconds lol. It came with 5 pieces, so everyone (except me) ate one each. Crispy beef gyoza (1/5) These were not very good and half of it was left uneaten. Vegetable mazemen (4/5) I pretty much ate the whole thing because everyone else was too full lol. I liked the sesame sauce, though I could've used a lot more of it. The noodles were very chewy, and I would've preferred them to be a little softer and thinner, like the ones used in the soup ramen. Overall, it was pretty good. Beef ramen (4.5/5) Everyone really liked this. I preferred these ramen noodles here over the mazemen ones. According to the fam, the broth was flavourful and the beef was tender and delicious. Mini bao donut with vanilla ice cream (1/5) This was a disappointment. The bao donut was hard and flavourless, and the vanilla ice cream was too sweet. We didn't finish this. A LA CARTE Chicken karaage (3/5) This was more like a whole chicken and not chicken nuggets. Everyone said it was alright, but not worth ordering again. Vegetable tempura (4.5/5) These were pretty good, and even got a stamp of approval from my super picky grandma. I liked how they were basically vegetable fritters, and that they were not too oily. Japanese curry poutine (4.5/5) This tasted pretty good. The curry flavour was nice, and the cheese was nicely melted. It was kind of small for the price though. My brother devoured it in 2 minutes. Brussel sprouts (5/5) Yum ! These were really good. The brussel sprouts were nicely crispy, and they were super flavourful. Highly recommended. Matcha mochi ice cream (5/5) My brother said that this was super good, so 5 stars it is. I liked the strawberries and the red beans that it came with. The ice cream had a nice matcha flavour. Black sesame mochi ice cream (4/5) This also came with the strawberries and red beans. My dad said it was a little too sweet. I liked the sesame ice cream, but I do agree that it was a bit too sweet. Overall, it was a pretty decent Dine Out experience. In my opinion, their ramen is better than their gyoza, as their gyoza is kind of average. The sides on their regular menu are pretty good though, and worth a try.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Ordered sweet chili shrimp gyoza for snack. The gyoza crisp on the side is well done. The veggie in gyoza tastes fresh. I was expecting the shrimp to be jumbo like dim sum shrimp dumplings, but shrimp is more like shrimp paste. The overall flavour is still very good. Perfect for snack. Server is friendly and ambience is comfortable.

Yelp
Wanted a little snack and gyoza's just sounded good at the moment. It was only about a 10 min drive from Stanley Park which is where we were at prior to coming here. The place was nice and cozy, not too busy where we had to wait for a long time to get seated. We only ordered the 12 piece Pork Teppan Gyoza's for $15. It came out in 10 min and it looked so good! It tasted good and it was juicy on the inside. My only wish was that it could be bigger, the sizes of the gyoza was small, I could've finished all 12 by myself. I was also disappointed seeing that prior reviews had the 15 gyoza's for $15 but I guess they changed their menu recently and decreased it to 12. They also serve lots of other types of food, but I just had my eyes locked on the gyoza's. This place is a bit pricey, it's definitely a more hip upscale place for asian food but then converting it to U.S. dollars, it didn't seem so bad haha.

Yelp
It's outstanding how awesome this place is. My colleague and I decided to go for bowl of ramen for lunch and we happened to be in the neighbourhood. Thanks god our first choice was closed and we decided to go to Gyoza Bar. An awesome welcome, a very cool wooden interior and a well balanced bowl of ramen was good enough to make us feel great about our day. I loved the sizzling gyoza. You can enjoy it in so many ways; dip into your soup, have your bowl of ramen first and still they're warm and fresh. The ramen soup was quite a new nice experience for me that happens rarely when you try a new bowl of ramen. I couldn't imagine being blown away by my experience at this place. I'm pretty satisfied.

Yelp
After reading some poor Yelp reviews we were a bit nervous to try gyoza bar but decided that since the menu looked good we'd check it out. The bao boards...we had to try them. Luckily it was Dine Out Vancouver, so for $20 we got crispy beef fried gyoza, the bao board and tapioca dessert...but totally worth it to pay full price. Beef fried gyoza- SO good and drizzled with sirracha. Not your average taste and you don't even need to dip in the 2 sauces they give youn Bao Board- cool experience to make your own. You get to make 2- meat came right off he bone and the sauce on top was great. Comes with sirracha mayo, lettuce and some pickled apples to add on. It can get messy but really worth it! Tapioca pudding- not something I would ever order on my own but I was surprised with how refreshing it was! Tapioca on the bottom with a mango ice cream/sorbet on top - then they also added some small chopped cucumbers, nuts, blueberry, kiwi and strawberry. We also ordered some things off the happy hour menu... Brussels sprouts- Crispy outside but soft inside. AMAZING Wings - best wings ever had! Great Asian spin on wings Mango Mule- mango purée and ginger beer drink Nice atmosphere - can get w little loud in the front, quieter in the back with open kitchen and bar GO HERE!

Yelp
Sister restaurant to Miku, this place has a slightly upscale feeling. It's well organized and run. I had tamari-shoyu tonkatsu pork ramen. The broth was tasty, and it came with a full soft-boiled egg. The noodles were thinner and less chewy than I prefer. There were 2 (not very generous) slices of pork. We also shared vegetable gyoza and enjoyed it. They were fresh, crispy, and served with a citrus soy sauce. Overall, better ramen than I expected. This would be a great option for a group meal like a work lunch.

Yelp
We had an amazing experience at the Gyoza Bar! We had saw the posts on Instagram and made our way out to dine! They look a reservation the day of! We got there around 7:25, and were seated in less than 5. We looked through the drinks menu and it took us a minute to decide, and I asked how dry their cider was and the waiter said it was quiet dry. And asked if I wanted to try a sample, which was amazing. I didn't have to invest in a whole glass if I didn't love it, but I did! We ordered the cider and the pale ale. We loved them! And we put in orders for the chicken gyoza tacos and a Pulled Pork Bao Sandwich, for one order. The tacos were so unique! They're deep fried with taco seasoning on the outside, but the crunch isn't harsh and when put on the butter lettuce, to be topped with salsa, spicy mayo, and guacamole it was such a pleasant balancing mouthful! I got the Chili Shrimp Gyoza, that came with spicy miso and a soy based sauce. And then the edamame beans! The Gyoza was soft but also crispy from the sear from the pan. The dipping sauces added great flavour! And the edamame beans had a good bowl size. The server was super nice and super informed about the menu. We intend to go back to try the ramen!

Yelp
Came here for lunch and unfortunately, this place didn't meet my satisfaction at all. As a microgreen grower, there was a lack of maturity and crunchiness in the microgreen. The broth was creamy, but lacks depth that I was looking for in a good Tonkotsu Ramen. The egg was soft boiled, but wasn't well marinaded. Lastly, the price of $14.5 just couldn't justify the quality of the ramen. I rather go to Danbo or Marutama next time. I gave the place a 2-star for their service.

Yelp
Hubby and I came for date night and I must say, the service level and the effort put into the food has gone down. Hubby ordered a beer and they forgot it until we chased the waiter down. We had another waiter ask us if we were ready to order after we had already ordered. The flavor of the Hamachi Kama didn't appeal to me (hubby was OK with it); it was soggy and finding a hair at the end was a real turnoff. The boa boards are less pricey now at under $20 each but the portion size and the creativity was no longer there. We had the Korean Spiced Pork Ribs boa board and other than the meat being quite tender, the taste wasn't memorable. Other than the Pork Teppan Gyozas, none of the other dishes stood out. It's still OK but I think we'll stick to their Gyoza + Beer happy hour from now on.

Yelp
Ramen was not bad but gyoza was pretty poor for a place that calls itself Gyoza Bar. We had the tokumori char siu aka tonkotsu, 8 pork gyoza, 8 shrimp gyoza and edamame between the 2 of us. It was a good amount of food. Pork in the ramen was pretty good. Noodles and broth were good too. I liked that there wasn't an excessive amount of noodles in the ramen.

Yelp
Good restaurant with gyoza made in front of you. but when you order a glass of Kombucha for more than 5 $ we bring you a big glass filled with ice, refusing it because a kombucha is not served with ice cubes we bring you half a glass of just 5 oz - as it was an exceptional glass of wine - . Asking to see the chef of the room, you are told that it is the person in charge of the wines who decided this alone in his head ... wasting time for the waiter to fill a glass measure for 5 oz of kombucha and then pour it into a glass, thus removing all the gas needed to make a kombucha ... what did the bartender drink before deciding to impose this stupid practice on his staff...!!!! please change your procedures quickly

Yelp
the goyza is very juice. Reman is a little bit too expensive because it only bas an egg and a pice of pork. It's 15 dollars. And taste is not bad.

Yelp
We were here from out of town and needed a place that would take reservations on a Friday night - toddler in tow who would not be willing to wait. I was also craving some sort of Asian food while in downtown so here we went. I was a bit apprehensive with the hit or miss reviews but I ended up really liking this place. It was super loud but we got a table by the door and my son was happily watching TV and loved the ramen noodles. We got Chef David's special courses meal and chose karaage chicken wings for the appetizer, pork gyoza, and the beef and scallops for the bao. The chicken wings was just okay - I don't know if I'd really call it karaage but it was hot and tasted good enough. The gyoza was on point and I really liked the bao. I was impressed it came with both the lettuce and the bao - though it was quite messy with the lettuce. I loved all the condiments and sauces and thought they complemented nicely. The price was very reasonable and we all enjoyed our dinner here!

Yelp
Came with the family with a TravelZoo coupon and we were surprised by the amount of food, flavour and decor for a reasonable price! We started off with a family bao board where you are able to choose 3 different meats (we got chicken, pork and beef) and some steamed buns, lettuce, sauces and pickles to create your own buns! I really liked the chicken and the beef was well cooked without being rubbery but the best part was the fluffy baos! They seemed very fresh and stayed soft with each bite. We also got the Miso chicken ramen with extra chicken char siu and this was very flavourful without being too salty. The chicken chashu is lean and tender while the noodles were toothsome although a little clumpy. The two gyoza we tried were the pork teppan and the chicken sui gyoza. The chicken was more interested since it was covered in a garlic and ginger sauce but the pork was juicer on the inside. We enjoyed both although the price is quite high. Finally, we got a soft shell crab (very fresh and crispy) and the stir fried garlic noodles with seafood. This was very delicious and not too oily with quite a few shrimp and scallops, thinner but still al dente noodles and some greens as well. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and although there isnt the MOST variety, the dishes tasted good! Yes, the food is quite heavy but it was not overwhelmingly so!

Yelp
This is my go to restaurants for gyozas and fried chicken as It's near my home and the food is great. Till now I have tried shrimp teppan gyoza, veg gyoza, ramen, chicken bao and chicken karage. I love their gyoza, yes they are a bit oily but if you can ignore that, they taste great. Chicken karage are good too, crunchy from outside and juicy meat inside. Chicken bao is fun to eat and tastes good. Ramen is the only thing here, I'm not a fan of but my husband likes their ramen.

Yelp
So good. The mazemen was delicious probably the best I've ever had. Great service as well. The atmosphere has good vibes and if you're in the area you must come!

Yelp
Great food and service Our server was Ralf - polite, professional, friendly, understanding- excellent, don't lose him Gyoza Bar! Food was all well made, presented well and tasted good! Slight feedback, Young hostess lady (short fading dyed hair) could really smile more and be outwardly friendly to patrons who walk through the door, it really should be a 'must' for that role in a restaurant. Keep up the good work Gyoza Bar!!

Yelp
Lunch time ramen at Gyoza Bar. The Tomato Tonkatsu Ramen is my go to, good tomato flavouring. The Gyoza are pretty good. If you go during lunch time make sure you make resos are go early. It fills up pretty quickly.

Yelp
Although the gyoza is nothing too special but it still taste pretty good. The service was very good and the ambience is good. Drinks price is fair for a central location like this. There's plenty room for seating which wasn't what I was expecting.

Yelp
Gyoza Bar is a Japanese Style restaurant. Gyoza Bar is located on Pender St, downtown Vancouver. The location is in between Granville and Waterfront Skytrain Stations. There are lots of schools around that area. Because of this, the restaurant always has a huge lineup. I always wanted to try this place before, but I didn't get a chance. Finally, last Sunday, my boyfriend and I got a chance, had lunch at Gyoza Bar. It was our first time having food at this place. We had a great experience eating at this place. We arrived at the restaurant at 12:30 pm since the restaurant just opened. There are no too many people inside the restaurant, which is great. We didn't wait and got a table right away. Our original plan was to have Dine Out lunch at Gyoza Bar. However, Gyoza Bar didn't offer the Dine Out Lunch Menu this year. We just order the food from the normal lunch menu instead. My boyfriend had Pulled Pork Bao Sandwiches and I had Awase Miso Free Range Chicken Ramen. Pulled Pork Bao Sandwiches $14.5. It made by pickled jalapeno, cucumber, sweet soy glaze, and crispy buns. The quality of this dish was much better than BCplace Pork Bao. The sandwiches were very juicy and delicious. Two bao sandwiches with a side of green salad. Awase Miso Free Range Chicken Ramen $14.5. Vintage miso based chicken broth topped with Chicken charsiu + tamago. The soup based was awesome. The ramen noodle was a little bit hard. Overall, it's great and tasty. Both my boyfriend and I agree that Gyoza Bar lunch menu is perfect for a quick meal before heading back to work. We enjoyed our lunch.

Yelp
I went on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was busy but not packed; we were able to get a seat right away. We were met with enthusiastic greetings in Japanese from the waiters and kitchen staff. To start, I had the Japanese curry poutine. The fries were light and crispy, and it was topped with pulled pork and melted cheddar. For my entree, I had the tonkotsu ramen + extra bowl of noodles for only 1.50$. The broth was so rich, the noodles were chewy and just perfect. It came with a soft-boiled egg on top. A bit expensive, but the taste and quality of the food is excellent, and service is friendly. Would highly recommend.

Yelp
I'll have to be honest. The food in this place was top-notch! Most definitely some of the best tasting ramen I've ever had. I gave it four stars because the menu has less items than people had on Thanksgiving during the great depression.... They're definitely able to stretch it out a little and made it look like a lot, but it seemed like there were only three or four things served several different ways. I ordered the tomato tonkatsu with a pulled pork bao (took the jalapeños out!) and that flavor combination was incredible. I definitely dipped my sandwich into my ramen... I'll go again for sure next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Got the Travelzoo coupon to check out Gyoza Bar for dinner. Would not go back, even with a 40% discount. The food was just too disappointing. Also my server seemed inexperienced and served us the wrong ramen, which we didn't realize until we got the bill. We had the following: Tamari Shoyu Tonkatsu Pork Ramen (unknowingly) - it was ok. $14.50 for 2 small pieces of lean cha siu, an onsen egg and okay noodles and broth. Not much else for toppings though.. at this price point I'd expect a lot of veg. Just a very sad portion of everything in the bowl, especially for $14.50. Pork gyoza - oily and only crispy on one side, the other side was soggy. Flavour was ok, nothing special. Chili shrimp Gyoza - Where was the chili...? Confused. Not much flavour and the shrimp reminded me Chinese shrimp dumplings. Also oily and soggy like the pork gyozas. Pulled pork bao - you can't mess up the bao itself - it's a sweet deep fried bun. But it was a bit dry. The filling itself was weird - intensely sweet pork that reminds me of Chinese stewed pork belly with preserved veg.. except this pork was not belly and it was very dry. We also ordered two of the cocktails and they were both pretty crappy. His was way too sweet and mine was tasteless and watery.

Yelp
I was very hesitant to try "ramen" the new trend in Vancouver. This was not a good experience. This spot was busy, but we got seated pretty quick. Service - needs improvement. The server did not check in with us initially, didn't bring water right away. Nor did he check in on us regularly. Every time we needed service I pretty much had to wave him down. Thankfully I looked at the bill, we were charged for something we didn't even order! Food - The shrimp gyoza was pretty good. However there 1 veggie Ramen - was terrible. The server didn't even ask how it was, he knew I only took a few bites of the meal, even made a comment how I didn't eat, but again did not acknowledge to ask if everything was okay. - Setting - Nice spot. Clean great for drinks, (if you get them on time!) music was great.

Yelp
Gyoza Bar + Ramen is minimal and modern in looks and has a hipster vibe. While it has a ramen shop appeal to it, Gyoza Bar go for wider non-ramen appeal with some small plates, and a couple of mains. The service was passable. I joined Gyoza Bar for happy hour. I tried their pull pork bao, pork teppan gyoza, and tamari-shoyu tonkotsu pork. The happy hour prices were mediocre - not the best value in the city. Having said that, the food was satisfactory. The bao, gyoza and ramen were delicious - but not memorable when compared to some of the other ramen shops in the city. Vancouver has a very competitive ramen scene, while Gyoza Bar is not bad, it is not the best. However, it is not a bad choice for lunch or dinner. The food will hit the spot and it is a fun place to have a few drinks with friends.

Yelp
Great ramen with the BEST egg I've had on ramen...soft boiled, runny, and perfect pairing with the tonkotsu shoyu ramen. Would come back just because they do the egg so perfectly. Servers are also super friendly here - I would definitely go back to try out more of their cocktails!

Yelp
TLDR: Tourist trap. I can describe my experiences there as "alright but not quite there." Great service, good location, good ambiance but not so great food. Gyoza Bar is a very spacious joint in the heart of downtown. Their staff is very attentive. Everything about it is good except for the food. Their food is definitely on the pricier side, especially since their portions is so small. Obviously, with their name as Gyoza Bar, I had to try out their Gyoza! We ordered 5 pieces for almost $9-10. It was honestly just...ok. Good but definitely tasted like something you can buy frozen at a grocery store. We also got their ramen, and that was also kinda mediocre. Noodles were on the harder side and the broth was salty but not flavourful. With other amazing Ramen places nearby, I definitely wouldn't come here again for their ramen.

Yelp
Ample seating. Quick service. Staff made sure I knew what I could order from the menu (I have a shellfish allergy). Great spot for lunch. My husband and I lived in Japan for a few years and ate ramen weekly, if not more frequent than that. We both branched out and tried GN's chicken ramen - great choice! The broth has the feel of "dirty" ramen, my fave. The chicken was cooked well, the egg was perfect, the veggies were fresh, and the ramen noodles were plentiful. My husband enjoyed the gyoza a lot. I couldn't eat them due to the oyster sauce in the recipe, but they looked GREAT. They came with two sauces. There is a diverse drink menu with reasonable prices. We didn't partake this afternoon, but I saw a lot of house cocktails I would try another day!

Yelp
I came here hoping to get just regular gyoza. Unfortunately its mostly fusion style. A ramen costed $20. Umm... don't you think that is too expensive. They have 5 gyoza for $16 but of course its better gyoza with fois gris in it. Sounds very yummy but if you are going with a group of people, I guess you have to order a lot. I don't think the food is that tasty. I did order the braised rib dish it was really tender and very flavorful but its $24. Yes it does come with skewers and 2 bao. I would say that dish is a better deal compared to the others. There are not a lot of choices on the menu. The service is awesome. They came around to fill my water many times. I am very happy with that .

Yelp
Welcoming greeting. Timely and friendly service. Happy hour is 4 piece Gyoza and a beer. Not bad but 6 pieces would make more sense and maybe one other non-Gyoza menu item. Flavourful filling. Off happy hour menu was a delicious hamachi. Enjoy!
