if you buy a fam pack, and make yourself fish filets tacos at home , you'll be satisfied as with a package banquet kettle 16 pieces we had leftover for dinner. It came with fries and they served us super fast. Only issue I had is that after I'd input my phone number for my order I started to receive so many spam calls from the irs and past taxes lol. Other than that good food.

First timer here. The food was good. The fish was fried to perfection, and the portiin size was great. The fish was larger than I had anticipated. The fries were OK ( only because the fish was put on top of it so by the time I went to eat the fries, they were soggy from the Fish). The Cole slaw was delicious. My kids ordered the chicken strip and I liked that it was battered and fried exactly like thr Fish. Loved the crunch. My only complaint is that it taste like it was fried in the same oil as the fish so the kids said their chicken taste like fish. The restaurant was not well ventilated. The AC was cranked (I'm assuming for the cooks since I can only imagine that the fryers would get very hot). Unfortunately because the AC was blasting....as a patron, it felt REALLY COLD. Also, i wish they had a way to vent out the fried food smell. The fried fish smell is very strong when you first step into the restaurant. Obviously over time, you get used to the smell but if they can figure out a good way to air out the place, that would be great. The guy cooking was extremely fast and efficient..he was the only worker in there and he was knocking out orders left and right. I would eat here again for sure. If you are looking for Fish and Chips ... I would definitely give this place a try .

The food was great. Good fish n chips. Good tartar sauce. The joint was a little run down but that was a sign that the food was bouta hit. It did. The service was not great. Not very welcoming. Homie was wearing pj bottoms and had both air pods in haha could've been a ruff day tho who knows. Anyway, overall I'd go there again for fun.

Google
Love it. I've been to many fish and chips shops abroad and this is a faithful representation. All of it was good.

The Vintage Vault of Upland - a gem of a spot for anyone into authentic vintage. First thing to know: this isn't a thrift store. A lot of people walk in trying to haggle like they're at a flea market, but this is a curated space showcasing actual vintage finds, many of which are priced fairly for what they are--sometimes even under market value, whether by accident or just a vendor trying to move inventory. The layout is really cool--a mix of rooms and stalls, each with its own vibe, run by different vendors. It makes the whole place feel like a little time-travel maze. I chatted with someone who seemed to be either an owner or employee--they were super kind, approachable, and clearly passionate about the place. Their presence also adds a sense of security and support, especially when you need something taken down off a wall or have questions about specific pieces. I grabbed a couple cool items myself and honestly, this is one of those spots I'll definitely hit up again. It's got character, a solid rotation of goods, and it's just a special spot in Upland that deserves some love.

Food was decent, the owner very respectful but i have a complaint about the kid on the cashier. Needs more training very disrespectful and seems like he doesn’t want to be there. I asked for extra lemons and he straight up lied to me, i went back to ask the owner and he got me more and the kid came to tell me that he didn’t want to cut them thats why he lied!!

Yelp
Although inexpensive, this is the best Fish and Chips place around. They don't use battered or coated fries like every other restaurant. Fish is awesome and you would think all these restaurants that are more expensive would do it better. But they don't Sides are great too. Cole Slaw is Creamy and love the fried zucchini. Fancy Restaurants that serve Fish and Chips: go in here and learn how to cook fish and chips.

Yelp
So much nostalgia finding this place a couple of years back. I used to frequent H Salt locations in Los Angeles/South Bay as a kid. Memories of the smell of fried foods and malt vinegar are strangely pleasant to me. Anyhow, always order the fish, shrimp and fries in various combo sizes here like the old days. It's consistent in flavor and comfort. I hope this place is here to stay as I don't think there is another close by. Service is good and it's relatively clean for what it is....a greasy fried fish place. Bathrooms can use a little TLC though.

Yelp
I got the Captains combo and it was pretty good!! Everything was made to order which was cool! The fries were pretty fire. The shrimp was good!! Lastly the fish was cool. There was only one employee and he was helpful!

Yelp
I can't rave about this place enough!!!!! The fish is THE BEST. The shrimp is THE BEST. It is so fresh and tastes like heaven. I love the fried popcorn shrimp, the London special and the huge jumbo shrimps! Those are some of my favorites from H Salt Esquire Fish & Chips. The "chips" or French fries could definitely use some salt. But that's no big deal. The mozzarella sticks were not so good. I would avoid those. I mean, this is a seafood place- so get the seafood! :) The clam chowder has a nice flavor and is filling. The fried zucchini is yummy also. If you order enough food, they give it to you in a big box. I like the box, it makes it easy to carry the food. And the grease doesn't soak through. Really though, why doesn't H Salt Esquire Fish & Chips have thousands of raving reviews?!!??!? I am confused and want everyone in SoCal to know about it! Come get some heavenly seafood! This place blows all the other seafood places out of the water! 100/10 rating lol

Yelp
The family loves to stop by here every chance we get and even make road trips just to come get their fish and chips. I grew up with this as a kid and it's still a winner.
google avatar

Yelp
This has business has been in the city of Orange my whole life and I love it. I got the daily special (1fish, 2 zucchini, chips and coleslaw) plus I added on a 3 piece medium shrimp. Everything was fresh and delicious. Price was reasonable too!
google avatar

Yelp
Food: The best fried fish and zucchini I've ever had. The fish so soft and has a thin crispy batter. Zucchini is still crispy even after being fried in oil. Service: they're quick to order and will take a few minutes for your food. Ambiance: it's a run down shop, but just so nostalgic because my parents took me here when I was a kid.

Yelp
I've been passing by this place for 2 years and knew that I would succumb to my fried food hankering at some point, and it happened a few days ago. Blast from the past- literally- from the nondescript ordering counter to the dated booths, but I was definitely taken aback by the Asian dude in the hairnet both taking orders and removing frozen food from the freezer to be fried and served, as his co-worker was on break. No overall complaints due to low expectations- although the water cups were like Dixie size so many refills were in order due to the sodium content of the food. The fish was hot and tender on the inside , the clam chowder cup had some actual bits of clam and wasn't runny, and the crab cake had flavor. I'm pretty sure my fried fish hankering will not return for a few more years, so if this establishment is still open then, I will return.
google avatar

Yelp
Not impressed. Fish drips oil, extremely greasy. The dining area is sticky/dirty old. Husband loves it, I can't stand it. If you don't mind dripping oil from your fish on a sticky counter I guess you're fine.

Ashley T.

Yelp
If you want fish and chips, H Salt offers just that! Super fresh!! Ordering and getting food is pretty standard, you just have to wait for your food!!

Bev P.

Yelp
Always delicious no matter what I order. This gentleman has been there 4ever...it's kind of a hidden treasure bc the place beside it is out of biz. If you want seafood please check this place out. It's superb!
google avatar

Melanie N.

Yelp
Probably the best fish and chips I've ever had. I love the batter on the fish and how it's light airy and crispy. I get the combo and switch out the fries for fried zucchini and it's truly delicious. The zucchini is fried in the same batter as the fish so it's perfectly crispy. Wait a few minutes to let the zucchini cool though because if you eat it right away, it's super hot in the inside! Every time I've come in, there's no line or anything so orders come out fairly quickly. The ambiance is dated and you can tell this place has been around for a while, but don't let that deter you from a great fish and chip meal!

Nicole N.

Yelp
Good food as always but the guy who was the cashier was kinda rude. Never experienced that before here. Otherwise it's always good.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great place. The person working here is so nice. They have a bunch of regulars. They have lots of fried seafood options. Everything was tasty, fresh, and yummy. No food poisoning concerns here! Very fair prices. Cash only. I wish they accepted credit cards. Small little mom and pop shop.
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
Great fish n chips and cozy place, try it if you're into that type of food! Service was great
google avatar

Ricky G.

Yelp
Best place for fish and chips, the tacos here are also good. I would recommend anyone in the area to give them a try if they haven't already. They are usually quick with orders but since they cook everything fresh, allow them some extra time on busier days.

Maggie L.

Yelp
Came for lunch and got the fish tacos and they were soo good! Fish so light and crispy went very well with the toppings. Will be back again!
google avatar

Rick G.

Yelp
The service and the food is always great here. We've been coming here for years. Our meals consisted of the fish, shrimp, and chips along with clams, scallops, and cole slaw.
google avatar

Sonedia T.

Yelp
The fish, shrimp and fries Are always fresh and you get a good amount of food for the $$. The employees are very nice and make sure you order is and complete.

Yelp
Amazing fish and chip spot next to a busy road, the chef was moving nonstop and the cashier did not have a chance to slow down dealing with walk ins and pick ups.

Paul R.

Yelp
Great place to eat. Clean and friendly. Fish and shrimp cooked just right. We stop there anytime we are close by.

Danni M.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place today! The woman taking our order was extremely nice and accommodating. I think it's just her and her husband who work there but the food came out quickly. My husband and I both ordered the double catch and it was AMAZING! It was a great meal for a great value! Everything on their menu was well priced. Nice quiet little family owned restaurant! I hope you guys check it out

Yelp
We loved the food ,the service and the ambiance Everything was cool to order and the restaurant was clean and inviting .

Yelp
OH EM GEE THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD I STARTED TALKING IN AN ENGLISH ACCENT THE WHOLE REST OF THE DAY. My boyfriend and I always talk about when we're gonna have it next. I go to school abroad and it's always on my "Must Eat Before Going Back to School" list. The fish is fried so crispy and goes perfectly with the malt vinegar and tarter sauce. I'm salivating just thinking about it. Just yum! The service is so nice and genuine too. The best we've had, hands down!!

Tingting L.

Yelp
All foods I tried here taste great. I really like the fish, veggies and clam chowder.
google avatar

Yelp
Affordable, fast, tasty. Went here on a whim thanks to a craving I'd been holding off. I'd ordered the 3-piece fish and chips, which was ready within a minute of ordering. Both the fries and the fish were crisp and delicious, with ample portion size. You really get bang for your buck here. Happy to come here again next time I'm in the area.
google avatar

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
What a find! Use to go to H Salt regularly back in the day and thought they had all disappeared. It was great to walk into the store with that traditional fish frying smell. The batter is the closest I have come across to traditional English fish batter. It's crispy and holds the malt vinegar really well to add to the taste. Meals are cooked fresh to order. Highly recommend and will be back soon.
google avatar

Lisa R.

Yelp
Ordered the regular combo (3 fish and chips), fried zucchini, and jalapeño poppers. Was super crispy and delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
greasy sticky counters, chairs and tables. food not fried right. can taste tooo much oil. i miss the ones from the 70's and 80's.

Yelp
Best Fish & Chips spot in Orange!! This place is my family's go-to place for Ash Wednesday or fish Friday's during Lenten season. We like to order the family pack 16 pieces of fish & chips, add on some zucchini fries on the side & don't forget the chicken tenders for the kiddos and you got yourself a delicious meal enough to feed up to 8 people! Service is super quick and efficient, too! We like to call ahead and place our order so it's ready for pickup once we get there. Fyi: The restaurant is located in a small strip lot so parking can be tricky especially during busy meal times. I like to bring a companion so they can run in and grab our order while I drive around.

Yelp
We stopped at H Salt for lunch a few weeks ago. I had not been here in a long time. I ordered a few pieces of fish with some chips. Also had some hush puppies which are good. Fish is excellent, not heavily fried like some other fish locations I know of. Nice little clean spot here. Great customer service, and its not to expensive , depending how much you order. Sorry I have been gone awhile.
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
They usually have great food but I went the other day and the fries were overcooked and nasty and the young kid got his long hair in my food! Where is the hair net????
google avatar

Bee N.

Yelp
I would give them 5 stars but the tartar sauce is missing that punch. Everything else was perfect! Customer service was fast and friendly, the batter for the fish and chips was good. I prefer more salt on my chips but that's a preference so no complaints.
google avatar

Yelp
Found this place by accident, in area for appt. Have been an H.Salt lover for life. This location goes beyond the normal H. Salt menu. Crab cakes, catfish, clam chowder with veggies, yum. Great boneless chickenstrips also! Also battered sweet potato fries, green salad , etc. All were delicious. The fish, shrimp, and chips were great also. The customer service was great. And paying for one condiment, I did not mind. Will be back again for sure.

Yelp
When I was growing up in Southern California, the ubiquitous fish and chips restaurant was H. Salt Fish and Chips. It was "the place" to go if you wanted an authentic English fish & chips experience. Over time, it became harder and harder to find these stores, to the point where I only know of one - THIS one! - located in Orange, California. Having not been to H. Salt for a decade or more, but having a hankering for fish & chips, I found the store on Tustin around 2:30pm, grabbed an empty parking spot (there were plenty!) and headed in for what I hoped was going to be a good meal. After looking over the menu, I settled on a Captain's Combo, which I ordered with fish, chips, shrimp, extra tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. It was just me and the crew, since it was past lunch hour, so finding a seat was easy. When the food showed up, it was AWESOME! The fish was crispy, the fries were fresh, and the two shrimp were butterflied and HUGE! I did only get one tartar sauce - which was tasty and enough for both pieces of fish - and the cocktail sauce came in a bottle. The sauces were BOTH great! The "chips" were crinkle-cut, and clearly freshly made. Two pro tips: 1. Don't try to eat the food right away; it has been freshly made, which means that it is easily as hot as the face of the sun. 2. Hitting the place after the lunch rush guarantees you a parking place, personal attention, and a table with an excellent view of the parking lot. This place is easily one of the better fish and chips places in So. Cal. If you're in Orange, drop by - the food is GREAT!
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
Made to order... HOT! The fried shrimp, zucchini and fish were delicious. I recommend sprinkling a little salt to preference. (Better that they undersalted, than oversalted.)
google avatar

Patrick T.

Yelp
BEST FISH AND CHIPS AROUND I like the inside of this place with the 80s arcade games and the people are very nice the food came quick and was so good
google avatar

Adam W.

Yelp
so I just tried this place using DoorDash, and I have to say it's really really good! I couldn't tell you about the ambience because I've never been there... But the fish and chips is legit. I used to live in Glasgow, Scotland and they take fish and chips very seriously over there... This was just right and I'm sure my former neighbors would approve. My wife lived there even longer than I did, and she said the only thing missing was having it wrapped in a newspaper! They give you the tartar sauce but more importantly they don't forget the vinegar. The portions are huge and reasonable for Southern California price wise. May be a little pricey for Scotland... This is my new go to For my fish and chips fix- takes me back... but without the rain! Also it's paper and cardboard for wrapping which is nice given the trend towards plastic everywhere. I don't feel guilty ordering from here because it'll all go in the recycle bin.
google avatar

Nio B.

Yelp
I been going there for over 30 years . When they where across the street next Baskin Robinson . Fish n chip always the same how John makes it ! Best Chips n town!
google avatar

Sandra L.

Yelp
H Salt Esquire Fish & Chips is a favorite of mine! Prices are fair for the quality and quantity you get. Everything here is deep fried to perfection- crispy, crunchy, and moist/tender on the inside. The fried fish is flakey and moist on the inside with the best crunch on the outside and is good on its own or with some malted vinegar (tartar sauce is extra charge). The shrimp is actually two pieces of shrimp joined together and again, deep fried to perfection. Substituting the chips for veggie sides is no extra charge and I LOVE the deep fried zucchini! The zucchini is super juicy while the outside batter stays crispy - how do they do that? It took a little while to get our food, but it was made to order so I understand and appreciate how fresh it was. Do yourself a favor, stop ordering fish & chips at a big box restaurant that randomly has it on the menu and come here!
google avatar

Minhwinn N.

Yelp
Come here pretty often. Love their fried zucchini. 6 pieces for less than $5.00. Nice, crispy not wet. Delicious with ranch sauce included. The double or triple catch are great too. Try it out.
google avatar

Halo G.

Yelp
Always passed this place going to one of my g/fs place. We gave it a try and was impressed with how clean this restaurant is. Good service, not too busy. Price is great for food. Only recommendation is food cooked fresh. When brought to your table, food is hot. So take photos of your food, check in to the location, text back friends make...let your food cool down before eating.
google avatar

Lori F.

Yelp
I made a mistake, the tarter sauce is definitely not included! There is an extra charge.
google avatar

Simpan G.

Yelp
Has been coming here for 10 years, since they were in the old location. I always order the same thing, two fish without chips, and received consistently good fish after all these years. Well i think the fish is shrinking a bit, but oh well, may be it is good for my waist afterall. I pair it with small tartar sauce (for extra $.25) and Caesar salad from Trader Joe. Always for to go. The place seemed to be consistently busy, not bustling busy, but always with customers. Excellent service, from John the manager, who is also the fish fryer. Yum!
google avatar

Barry L.

Yelp
Good quality seafood for unbeatable prices. The quintessential hole in the wall. They're also flexible with substitutions! A gem.
google avatar

Darlene J.

Yelp
I frequent this restaurant often. You have the choice of eating in the restaurant or taking your food home. They have many other choices besides the fish. If you don't want French fries, you can get deep fried zucchini or several other choices. They are very friendly and pleasant to work with. I recommend you give them a try!
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Food okay, cooking oil dirty, though. You can taste it. Ambiance is that of a dirty roadside diner. Order on line, come in when they say it'll be ready. What order?
