H2O Hostel Ljubljana

I stayed here for 4 nights while we explored Ljubljana. Firstly, the location is superb. 2 minute walk from some main attractions and bars, and a 10 minute walk from the bottom of the castle. I stayed in a 4-bed dorm, which was spacious and had its own kitchen and shower space. Overall its an excellent hostel, the only thing I would say that you need to put a €10 deposit for a locker key (most places I have been to give you a key when you book a bed) and sometimes when I have come back during the day, the door to our room has been wide open.

BAD experience - I booked a room with bathroom few months ago, I confirmed It 2 days before to go, today lunch time I left the baggage in their locker because the room wasn't ready. When I returned for check-in the room was no more available because their mistake, over booking or Just not professional receptionist, my reservation was cancelled the room gave to others. They proposed me a 10 minute by car far away room with shared bathroom. I didn't accept. Very BAD experience, they didn't give me any other solution or helping , Just apologizing, leaving me alone to solve the problem by myself at 9pm. 😡😡😡👎👎👎

Great hostel. The 10bed dorm was without windows but there was a AC and ventilation. The location is perfect in the city centre.

I would highly recommend you avoid this hovel if you plan on coming to Ljubljana. Starting with the only positive feature: the location. It is right in the centre. That’s as far as I can honestly go for positive comments. On our first night, we were shown to our tiny, cramped, dilapidated room where 6 beds are shoved as close together as humanly possible. The walls and floor behind the beds are filthy and I doubt they have ever been cleaned. After finally getting to sleep (the walls are paper thin and the blinds redundant) I woke up and found 3 bedbugs crawling over my sheets. Having no choice to wait until the reception opened, I couldn’t go back to sleep, ruining my first night. I told them as soon as soon as possible and they said we could move rooms or find somewhere else to stay. They did, to their credit, offer to wash our clothes. However, they put our clean clothes in the same bag they took our potentially contaminated clothes in, rather defeating the purpose. They put us in a slightly nicer room (still not great) and the rest of the stay was fine. It should be said that there is no common room in this hostel and therefore the atmosphere and socialising is non-existent. When coming to check out, we thought it more than reasonable to ask for the first night free, given it was the absolute lack of thorough cleaning on their part that caused our discomfort. The rude receptionist shrugged and said there was nothing that could be done, since we slept there the first night and only reported it in the morning (THE RECEPTION WASNT OPEN UNTIL THE MORNING!!!) and they ‘provided a solution’. In other words, move rooms or get out. So if you fancy getting bitten to shreds and overcharged for a sub-par, dirty, graveyard of a hostel, this is the place for you. If you fancy having a nice time, avoid at all costs. P.S. I went to leave a review on Hostelworld where we booked, but there wasn’t an option to leave one. I wonder why…

The rooms could be better maintained, but are clean and functional. The staff was very friendly and the location is amazing. I'd totally book the place again.

Perfect location right on the river in the centre. Friendly staff, bright & breezy, clean & functional. Not a great meeting spot nor communal as such, but I'd been travelling in January & whizzing about Veneto, kinda needing a rest, and this place was just the ticket. Ljubljana was a wee side trip to say hello, having last passed through this way with barely a glance 40 years ago. A very pleasant official introduction to Slovenia. I'll be back another time to do more justice. Hvala, dobri ljudje.|Was confused because the hostel I'd booked next door was closed, but this is under same management & they refunded me/just checked me in here instead, so all good.

Worst hostel ever!!! Super tiny rooms, you can't move without touch you neighboord, one bathroom for 6 people and a kitchen inside the room!!! Luckily nodoby cooked inside! It would be a mess. I dind't recommend at all.

Nice clean hostel in a great location in the city - easy to get to from the train station and the FlixBus drop off point. ||I got a private room it was really great with a nice big bed and a tv. ||Not much of a common room and no bar which was a bit of a takeaway for me - as a solo traveler ||But if you’re not worried about that then this will be a great place for you.
