The hotel is a beautiful building with nice internal decore and a lovely balcony with plants and space for co-working. The cafe/restaurant is also very good.|The facilities have their issue (eg not all radiators work) but that is understandable considering the age of the building, which is also hard maintenance.|The staff is friendly and some of them are very nice.|However, the overall quality of the stay is below average considering the price and the market segment the hotel tries to cover. |The internal design of the rooms seems to have been done without any thought of the fact that actual people would need to use it: the wardrobe is about 50cm wide, with 4 crutches (which, at my request, were complemented by 4 more crutches so we could hang clothes for a couple stay of 6 nights). The first room we were given was very beautiful and spacious, but the only additional space for storing clothes (in addition to the small wardrobe) was one shelf located on top of the safe. We were then allowed to change to another room with a couple more shelves (but still the same small-sized wardrobe).|The soap containers in the showers had little amount of soap, which was watery: this was the case in both rooms we were given, leading me to suspect that it was a deliberate hotel policy to minimize the cost of replacing soap. Indeed, even after we asked to refill the soap, the containers were refilled only in half.||The cleaning of the room was not thorough: there was dust in the wardrobe, the carpet was only hovered once during our whole stay, spider webs were on the outer parts of the windows, and some beddings were put back in place after we had put them on the floor because they needed replacement. ||Other internal design issue: since the plumbing requires toilet paper to be disposed of separately (which is fine given the age of the building), it would be good if the small garbage bins in the bathroom came with a lid to prevent bad odor from spreading.||Also, the sink in the bathroom was a bit clogged, which again is understandable, but then it would be good if the hotel management made sure that these plumbing issues are attended to on a regular basis, without the clients having to notice them (and I didn’t report it because by then I had already made a “Karen” out of myself). ||If the hotel had marketed itself as a sort of stylish but no-pretense hotel I would have expected what I’d get into, and probably have given it a three or even four star rating. But the mismatch between what I expected and the perceivable intention to cut corners was off-putting.||PS||One personal thing that may only be my personal issue and not caused by the hotel: my hands’ skin was desquamating when I washed my hands. My partner’s skin was alright, so it may be just that I’m allergic to some component of the soap (which was a very high quality soap from Loto del Sur), but still worth mentioning just in case others have experienced the same issue.
