Los Kentubanos: Digging Into Louisville’s Cuban Side

"They have since set the stage for other Cuban restauranteurs to thrive with businesses such as Marcos Lorenzo’s Havana Rumba chain; Mi Sueño Cuban Express (the only drive-thru Cuban restaurant in the city), and the unrelated combination restaurant/grocery store Bodega Mi Sueño across the street; and even Habana Blues Tapas Restaurant across the river in New Albany, Indiana."

We visited on a week night when there were only a few other tables. Unfortinately, service was still pretty slow. Our table shared an assortment of Tapas. The food came out as it was ready, which was great. However, the food was just alright. The meatballs were cold, the empanadas were more pastry than filling, and they were barely warm. The tacos and tamales each had a good portion size, but the flavors weren't for us. Overall, I found myself disappointed and left hungry. I may give this spot another try, but it will be a while.

I can't believe this place isn't on a wait. The food is delish. Atmosphere is nice. Fast service kitchen with a perfect Cuban, get the calamari and the plantains with the guacamole!

One of the best restaurants in the Louisville/Southern Indiana area!! Went for my friends birthday and had a blast. Great drinks, amazing food and awesome friendly service. All the tapas dishes were delicious and reasonably price. Along with live music on the weekends. Just overall a great place and a must try place.

We had heard so many wonderful things about this place that we had to try it. On a positive note the waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was beautifully plated. The food just didn’t have a lot of flavor though. The main course was under seasoned and the appetizer was tasty but on not warm enough. I’m usually generous with my ratings but for the price I just didn’t love it. I’ve heard that the key to this place is to just order a bunch of appetizers (topas) and make that your meal. If I try it again I that’s what I’ll have to do.

Holy goodness, this place has amazing food! The prices are a little on the higher end, but the quality makes it worth it. I really enjoyed the fish I got as it was cooked to perfection. The service was a little slow at first, but we did get checked on enough and they were always polite and kind! The presentation was also so beautiful. It made me feel like the kitchen really cared about their product output. They have their own parking lot behind the building, which is a MAJOR plus since RecBar just opened recently and traffic is wild in New Albany around that area now. I will definitely be back!

Food was a little pricey, but fresh and seemingly authentic. Staff was friendly, but we felt a little rushed although there were still a couple hours until closing.

Ropa Vieja de Pollo translates to dirty laundry and is a very traditional dish. Shredded chicken slowly cooked with creole tomato and red wine sauce with sweet plantains, white rice, and beans is very good and very filling, can't go wrong with the traditional. Jarrete de Cerdo are white wine braised pork shanks with mashed potatoes. The pork is very tender and very tasty - went perfect with the mashed potatoes which were some of the very best I've ever eaten, I would go with the entrée size if your looking for a solid delicious meal. Empanadas with chicken were very good, crispy, good flavor, honestly wasn't much for the dipping sauce but ketchup was a nice substitute and for thought I would offer some honey mustard, ketchup, and something else in those saucers. I wouldn't try the vegetable empanadas again, they seemed lacking unworthy to finish after trying the chicken. Apple cake for dessert was decent enough it's cake and ice cream was some pizzazz. Overall, great place, fun and interesting. There is beautiful art work on display, there is great music playing, there is a 1951 Plymouth you can get into, there is an old bank vault, since the building used to be a bank, the customer service was on point, and the food was really good.

Nice space. Nice staff. Good food. This was my third time here and I won't hesitate to eat here again. Maybe I was just extra hungry but everything today was extra savory! I had the Elena Ruth and loved it. For a side I had the bean soup with pork and it made me drool. Maybe I should give them five stars?
