As someone from both Lebanon and Palestine, I've always been a proud connoisseur of kunafa and I stand by the fact that our versions are the best as i tried the one in turkey and wasn't impressed either! Still, for years, Habiba Sweets in Amman has been on my must-try list. When I found myself in the bustling Wast El Balad (downtown), I knew it was finally time.
Luckily, the queue wasn't too long, and I was immediately struck by the incredibly affordable prices. For a place that's a genuine tourist hot spot, the value is amazing. The staff were super friendly, adding to the warm, inviting atmosphere.
I ordered the smooth kunafah (naa'mi), and while I was excited to finally taste it, I have to admit I was a little disappointed. The cheese was tasty, but the top layer was a bit too thick for my liking, and it didn't quite live up to my expectations. Still, the overall experience was great. Sitting by the shop and soaking in the lively vibe was a treat in itself. Next time, I'll definitely try the other kind or maybe even both!
