The hotel is next to construction of its new expansion to a Marriott property. The current hotel will be special rooms, a bar, and an art gallery. I believe it will be closing soon as the new construction encroaches on the existing hotel areas. ||It will be disappointing to lose this traditional Haitian hotel with personal service but the new Marriott will provide 100 rooms and more amenities. ||As mentioned by other reviewers, the views are fantastic, covering 180 degrees including the water and the city. The hotel is easily accessible to restaurants and the casino in town, but we loved eating at the hotel itself, sitting outside to overlook the city. The food was very good and quite interesting. My favorite was the red snapper. They offered goat but I wasn't adventurous enough to try it. ||I would love to recommend the hotel but by the time you read this, it might be too late. If it is already a Marriott, give it a shot. M

This place is so nice. From the time you walk in so welcoming. The staff from check in to dinner is wonderful. Ben one of the staff members there was so helpful. We needed to do laundry they delivered everything right away and even pressed them. The bed is like sleeping on feathers. The food is so organic and delicious. I had the grilled snapper well seasoned like my grandma. If you need a place to feel the real Haiti this is it. Will definitely be back.

I have never been to Cap Haitian though I visit Haiti quiet often. My family and I decided to visit the northern part of Haiti and I chose that hotel after some research. I made my booking through Orbitz for three people. Unfortunately the hotel only had one family room that can accommodate three people. I found the room to be on the small side but manageable. The room was clean and they provided us with water bottles daily. We arrived there in the evening and we were given three welcoming drinks and it was good😋Getting to the hotel was kind of challenging because of construction but you definitely need a car because you can’t walk to the city by foot (it’s on the top of a mountain). The hotel has a beautiful view of the city and the water....truly breathtaking.||The staff were courteous and professional. The manager offered us an upgrade but we didn’t want to share a bed with three people (even a king size bed). The upgrade was amazing with a telescope on the balcony looking over the city. The food at the hotel was good and honestly the hotel food is wayyyy better than the local restaurants. I went to three different restaurants and their foods were horrible. ||The hotel made arrangements for us to go to Labadee and that was amazing too. Definitely give that a try if you can. There is a pool at the hotel but it looks more like a jacuzzi. I never went in there but it looks clean which is a plus. ||Cap Haitian is an historic city, rich in culture and you can learn a lot about Haiti. I learned a lot and understand the underlying differences between the northern part and the southern part of Haiti.

We stay in Cap regularly and thought we'd head to the hotel for a day of relaxing. Breakfast prices weren't too bad at all ($6 omelette, $5 pancakes) and we ate lunch too, super reasonable ($7 burger and fries). Dinner time came around and we thought we'd get some drinks and snacks. Bartender offered to make us an amaretto sour, 'his favorite', and we decided to have a couple. We asked about snacks and he offered some fried goat, fries and plantains-yum! Plate came out with about 10 bite size goat pieces, some fries and plantain chips. Figured we'd spend $12-15 as is typical for a goat meal in Cap (it's my fav so I'm well versed in prices). I should have known to ask the price since the items were not on the menu. Always ask the price. I should know this from working in Haiti for the last 7 years.||Goat snack dish was $18.||Drinks were $12/each.||Our 4 drinks and one goat snack dish were more than breakfast AND lunch, combined.||The hotel is nice and for those of us working in Cap, a nice escape from the city. But please, always remember to ask for the prices first.

I’ve stayed many times at Habitation Jouissant. It’s located on the hill and very quiet. Service is usually very good. I’ve never had complaints before. I stayed there recently, despite knowing they have a construction and the entrance is quite difficult. I was disappointed this time. The place was a bit empty. I felt like I was the only guest at times. I arrived late but had called to make sure they kept my room. I was checked in to the wrong room (Queen room vs King). I had to change rooms. Their food is usually very good. This time menu options were very limited. And they ran out of Coca Cola !!! I hope this is just a bad weekend and that they will go back to their usual top notch service and menu.

The staff and service overrides everything else, my flight was cancelled in Miami my husband was already in Cap- Haitien and it was pouring rain I called the hotel and spoke to Russo he sent the driver to pick him up and get him settled. Rousso and the rest of the staff really made our stay enjoyable. The Hotel is very charming it's however going thru some renovations and I can't wait for the completion my husband and I will definitely return. We stayed in the Laurier which is one of the smaller rooms it's not my favorite but the view over looking the ocean and the courtyard made up for it. I would advise choosing a bigger room to be more comfortable. The dining area is Beautiful lots of trees in the courtyard my husband and really enjoyed our stay Habitation Jouissant is truly a gem a charming hotel in a charming town.

We had a wonderful 6 day stay but at this point they are preparing to close during the transition to the Marriott Autograph Collection of hotels. The final approval for the construction of the new buildings and structure is expected this month. A review of the facility as we experienced it would not be helpful once they close and reopen in 2018. The staff was fabulous as was the food including an off-menu lobster creole dish they prepared just for the 4 of us. We fully expect to return once the hotel reopens.

I loved staying here. They staff is professional and hospitable, the view is amazing, and the food is great. It's not too far from the hot spots in town but is also pretty quiet if you just want to relax. I will definitely be coming back here.
