From my very first email to the hotel before our trip, we received excellent customer service. I wanted to organise a surprise wedding vow renewal for my husband while at the hotel, and Raneem from guest relations was very kind and helpful in starting the planning for this. She was then on holiday and passed this on to Maya, who from start to finish was extremely professional, friendly and so keen to make everything perfect for us. We had a wonderful celebration thanks to her and I’m so grateful; a truly lovely lady who goes above and beyond. My husband‘s birthday was also noted with a decorated bed and a cake in our room, which was a lovely surprise. ||The room was kept immaculate every day, with the housekeeping team were so polite and discreet. The restaurants were all very good. The breakfasts had variety daily, and I didn’t have the same thing at all for the whole 10 days. We were half board so varied between having lunch or dinner at the hotel. Lunches were usually light snacks at The Underground as in the heat we didn’t want to eat very much, but the pool bar menu was also very good. For dinner the South African restaurant is outstanding and has won awards. Thomas served us on a couple of occasions and he is an absolutely lovely, happy and welcoming chap. We look forward to seeing him. The Italian restaurant Lucianos isn’t as fancy inside as the South African one, but the food was very good and the portions plentiful. In fact, all of the hotel eateries gave huge portions and my 16 year old son didn’t manage to have a three course meal on many occasions. I think this is another reason why we didn’t need to buy lunch very often, which is a good thing! The hotel buffet had a different type of food every lunch and evening which was great. We particularly enjoyed the Mediterranean evening, but also had the Mexican and another evening too. Again, fantastic food, plenty of it and a lot of variety. It was also good to receive a soft drink each with our half board option with our meals.||We loved the two swimming pools. Being 16, our son could join us at the rooftop pool which we found to be a calm, relaxing place. There was music but it wasn’t very loud and that was how we liked it. It was busier at the weekend and the music a bit louder, I assume to go with the vibe and the younger clientele who were using it. We were out quite a bit over the weekend anyway, but it’s nice to have a bit of variety for people who like different atmospheres at the pool, so it didn’t bother us. We were out quite a bit over the weekend anyway, but it’s nice to have a bit of variety for people who like different types of vibe at the pool. The cocktails at the pool were fantastic and the staff and lifeguards were very attentive and friendly. I was even brought my first cocktail while lounging in the water! The family pool is also fantastic, and we liked the swim up bar. The pool wasn’t too busy (I don’t think UK schools had broken up yet when we were there), but I can’t imagine it getting extremely busy as they were plenty of loungers and it’s a nice size pool. The staff at the pool were very kind in handing out towels, and if you forget to bring your sun lotion to the pool and need a top up, there is sun lotion and aloe vera cooling gel available at the towels which we thought was a nice touch. ||We made use of the buggy service to go to the beach a couple of times, where we thoroughly enjoyed jet skiing. It seemed very well run and unlike other countries we’ve been to, a person from the company came out on a jet ski into the water with us to ensure our safety,|and make sure we went in the correct areas only. I thought this was excellent. Being July the water was a bit too warm to swim, but we did enjoy a paddle to experience 32°C water! On our last day there was a lifeguard who was extremely friendly and chatty, and he offered to take photos for me and my family. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch his name but he did say that he is Egyptian. He was very attentive to those in the water and it made for a last nice nice last evening there.||While I was away, I fell from a curb at the monorail and badly damaged my ankle, which made it extremely hard to walk. This was noticed by Kaleem at the concierge desk when I got back to the hotel after it happened, and he was most concerned. He brought over a first aid kit and then had ice sent up to our room to help me. Every day when I came down and he was there, he asked how I was and made sure I had ice when needed. This was really appreciated and he’s an asset to the hotel. Mohsin the doorman is also an asset. A true gentleman who was also very kind regarding my injured foot and he helped ensure we could use the buggy where possible and helped get us taxis. ||I wish I’d caught more people‘s names as it wasn’t just these two gentlemen, Raneem and Maya who were assets. There is a fantastic staff at the hotel. We would love to come back again but this was a special holiday for us, not one that we can usually justify cost wise. We have however recommended the hotel to friends already, and if we do come back to Dubai in the future, we will definitely use this hotel again. It’s in an excellent location not too far from all the places we wanted to see, and I’m much prefer that location to seeing some of the hotels which were further into the city and not near the beach.||To sum up, I can’t think of any negatives at all about the hotel and my husband, son and I would recommend a stay here to everyone.
