Hacienda del Mar

Visited the Island, when passing by sailing. We saw the sign, explaining is costed 10USD to use the facilities of the hotel. We bought a guided Island trip, which basically was an expensive taxi ride of the roads, since our driver spoke no english. |Finally when we had to pay, they billed us the 10USD, just for visiting the Island, even though we had not used the facilities.

If you’re looking to disconnect and enjoy excellent beaches and beautiful views of nature, this is it. We spent 3 nights and got lots of rest and beach time. The staff is incredible and attentive to what ever you need. A few things to note: -there is no weird jungle man here. This is a joke based on a show that was filmed on the island -you must remember to always apply bug spray. I made the mistake of not reapplying after going to the beach and had so many bites everywhere -as many have said, the food is not great and is very expensive. The best things we had on the menu was the coconut octopus, calamari, and sides like patacones, fries and mashed potatoes. Just mentally prepare yourself for the food because it’s not anything luxurious. We did the atv tour which was a lot of fun and the best beach was Esmeralda which is right by the landing strip. Overall, highly recommend to get away

Hacienda Del Mar is such a special place. We stayed over New Year’s Eve and everything was great: food, service, rooms, activities, beaches, etc. The hotel organizes ATV rides, boat tours, fishing, etc. and everything is highly recommended. Besides that, the hotel makes available snorkeling equipment and kayaks - watching the sunrise or sunset from the ocean was amazing too.

Very good, but a little problem. I always heard a male voice screaming "coocoonout!! And also they couldn't stop stealing my Cigarettes sadly. Also that person had a crown, looked like McDonald's crown xD

It’s an absolutely gorgeous spot. However it is in need of some renovations. The bathrooms could be re done as could the balconies, but the views from the rooms are fantastic, and there’s a vast expanse of lovely beach. Down sides are that the food and menu choice is really pretty poor and expensive given the quality. The fish is mostly frozen which seems such a shame being a resort on the beach. The breakfast choices are very poor and we were charged for getting bacon which we weren’t impressed by. The air conditioner really didn’t work much at all in the room so it gets very hot in the afternoon when you want to have a rest. There are lots of biting bugs so be diligent about bug spray and avoid being out at sunset, our kids got so many bites. A stay of 2-3 nights is good, more time and you begin to get a bit tired of the menu and lack of things to do. There are tours on offer but quite pricey and not really that much to see. Staff are very nice though and the friendly parrots flying overhead are magical.

We all got hundreds of bed bug bites! 2 separate rooms- absolutely infested!! The first 3 days we had no hot water in our room either. Don’t go. Sterilizing everything when you get home is horrible and they itch like heck.

In case anyone is wondering about all the strange german reviews: The german survival show "7 vs. wild" (currently on YouTube) was filmed on this island, so a lot of people are being comedians in the reviews.

Beautiful setting on a beautiful island. The charm and unique setting make it worth a visit. The staff are courteous and efficient. We loved sitting out by the pool, and had a delicious meal in the restaurant. Our time here has been very relaxing and enjoyable. I definitely recommend you visit.
