Hacienda Puerta Campeche, an IHG Hotel, Campeche

We had dinner at Hacienda Puerta Campeche, and it was absolutely wonderful. The food, atmosphere and service was all fantastic. Carlos, our waiter, welcomed us with open arms, gave us spot on recommendations regarding the menus items, and gave us flawless, timely professional service. The quality of the food was impeccable, and it was a great value, given the magnificent setting. After the meal was over, Carlos took the time to explain the history of the hotel, and showed us around the property. He truly is a great reflection upon the hotel, and IHG, and we truly appreciated it. Thank you so much, we will return!

Upsides: good location, comfortable bed, nice pool. Downsides: dark rooms, thin walls, bad breakfast (horrible coffee, bad service-food was cold, waiter waited till we were done with our meal to bring the requested pepper and salt) All in all: I would have expected a lot more from a 5* hotel but I guess it’s nonetheless the best hotel in Campeche due to a lack of competition.

Great hotel in the city center, right next to the wall gate and on calle 59 so a quick walk down to the restaurants and shops. Room was large with great furnishings. We only are breakfast at the restaurant, but it was good. Pool, as others have mentioned, is unique and fun. Roof top also has a large patio and great views.

Charming and beautifully laid-out Hotel at the end of the most famous street in Campeche. Their swimming pool is certainly their star attraction and it is as nice as it looks on the picture. Overall we had a great stay in this Hotel with rooms full of old colonial carácter and very comfortable beds.

A perfect location to enjoy a few days in Campeche although being part of Marriott’s “luxury” hotel brand is a big stretch. It is very authentic and unique, the rooms are large and clean but the whole place needs some TLC. There is a lovely rooftop terrace but again, needs a lot of TLC. The staff is wonderful, Augusto at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. We only ate breakfast at the hotel and it was just ok. We would stay here again.

A really good place and very well located. Rooms are big and clean. The pool is beautiful but not so clean and therefore pretty deserted. The service and the people working at the hotel are very nice and helpful!

We used points to book a suite, which turned out to be huge (Room 14, upstairs on the balcony). The staff treated us like royalty, with complimentary fruit basket, coffee in the morning, and turndown service. Ms. Andrea Haw at the front desk was particularly helpful and pleasant, and we also enjoyed chatting with the bartender. The hotel is at the end of Calle 59, a fun pedestrian street of bars, cafes and shops. Because of its somewhat secluded location along the wall around Centro Historico, getting a taxi was problematic on one day at lunch time, but no problem the following day around noon (Campeche doesn’t have Uber or Didi). Highly recommended.

This is an outstanding hotel, not only because it’s so beautiful, but also because the staff is so amazing and dedicated to making every detail of your stay perfect. Let me tell you my own personal story, briefly. My wife is originally from Mexico and for our 25th wedding anniversary, I wanted to surprise her with a recommitment ceremony in Campeche that included not only her brother and sisters from Mexico (who couldn’t attend 25 years ago in the US) but would also include the very unique and special cultural elements of a traditional Mexican wedding (the lasso, the “arras coins”, the sand bottle, etc). I reached out to Hacienda Puerta Campeche and was put into contact with Mr. Enrique Solari, the General Manager for the entire Bonvoy Haciendas Collection of which this boutique hotel in Campeche is just one (there are several others in other cities, apparently). Mr. Solari was so kind and gregarious. I think he could sense that I was nervous trying to arrange so much from so far away and in a foreign language, and he immediately understood my desire for something special for my wife. Mr. Solari totally put me at ease and promised that his team would deliver an amazing evening for us – and wow, they did! Mr. Solari organized a team for me to work with there at the Hacienda Puerte Campeche that included everyone from the concierge to the head chef. Next, he put me in touch with Ms. Carla Roldan, who is the Director of Sales for the Haciendas Collection. Let me tell you, this lady is amazing! She speaks perfect English and she organized every single tiny detail of this wonderful evening, even down to ordering flowers in our room (which Mr. Solari very generously upgraded to the Presidential Suite! Gracias!). Every aspect of this surprise re-commitment ceremony was planned out, with Ms. Roldan even preparing a moment by moment Excel spreadsheet of the timing of events (which was very good for me to have as I was very nervous). First, Ms. Roldan planned and organized a lovely dinner of traditional “Campechano” cuisine. Then, at the conclusion of the meal, I surprised my wife by getting down on one knee and proposing all over again. I had arranged for some wedding dresses all the necessary wedding items to be delivered in advance by some friends to Ms. Roldan there at the hotel, and she made sure everything was perfect, even purchasing my wife a few things to freshen up with in the room, making sure the A/C was on, etc. And on top of all this, and entirely on her own, Ms. Roldan purchased a large bag of rose petals which she dropped in front of my wife as she walked down the aisle (which was actually the very beautiful courtyard where there is an ancient tree growing). Simply stated, this was an amazing evening and my wife and I are both so very thankful to Mr. Solari, Ms. Roldan and the entire staff there at Hotel Puerte Campeche for all they did to make it so. I would give 10 stars if I could. This evening was so meaningful to my wife and I and we are both very grateful for the memories we now have from this amazing evening.

Hacienda Puerta Campeche is a GEM - possibly the best hotel in Campeche. We stayed here for one night on a short visit from Merida using a free night certificate courtesy of my Marriott Amex card The hotel is incredible - it's an old colonial building that has been completely renovated. The entire hotel is plush with an elegant air conditioned restaurant, swimming pool that is built inside an old ruined building, and beautiful grounds. Our room was luxurious with a very comfortable over sized bed, large bathroom with double sinks, HOT water, cable TV, minibar, robes for guests to wear to the pool, etc. In the morning, we were brought complementary coffee and sweet breads in our room The hotel is centrally located in old town Campeche - with lots of museums, churches, bar and restaurants all within walking distance. The entire downtown area seemed very safe to me and we didn't have any hesitations walking around even at night. The staff are incredibly attentive to their guests - giving us suggestions on places to go arranging taxis, etc Highly recommended!

Literally they rob you in this hotel - I ate at the restaurant and it has been my worst experience ever ! 1.- They took one hour and a half to bring a beer 2.- As they were super slow we decide to just pay for the drinks and leave as if for drinks they take this much imagine for lunch 3.- But this was not problem, problem was the inept waiter charged me 600 usd instead of 60 !!!! And guess what they told me they were not able to process the refund right away because of their policy !!!!! To this day no one at the hotel has contacted me and I have the charge in my credit card - Horrible hotel - horrible service and worst attitude - you were warned -

First class all the way. Great location within the walled colonial city with easy walking to everywhere. Rooms are spacious and nice. Service is friendly and helpful. The La Guardia restaurant is fantastic for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Highly recommended.
