Hacienda San Jorge

Fabulous hotel. Accommodation just as described and exceptionally clean it is also a very short walk through the complex gates to the beautiful beach of black volcanic sand. However the pool is gorgeous, the is a pool bar also. Staff around the complex are friendly helpful and very accomodating. The grounds are saturated with lush botanicle gardens, and running water making for peace and tranquility. We have enjoyed every day here and tried numerous restaurants which are a short walk away in Los Cancajos. We did eat at the buffet restaurant once the food was nice a good selection to choose from but we prefer as a family to eat out. There is some live music a few nights a week in the lounge bar where you can sit and enjoy cocktails. We had a late check out and was able to keep our room an extra few hours for a very small charge. Would highly recommend a visit here if you are looking for something of beauty where you can rest and relax we have had a fantastic holiday, thank you Hacienda San Jorge!

We had an amazing stay at this place, for our first holiday with our baby. The place itself is beautiful, in the midst of a botanical garden. But the staff was also truly the best I ever experienced. I have a severe food allergy and I never got treated that good as here. I felt safe and enjoyed the food options every day. Also coming with a baby felt very easy and warm, due to the lovely staff. Highly recommended!

Recently got back from a week away with the family and what a fantastic experience had by all. Prior to arriving I was slightly nervous as there were not many reviews from people with children. We went with a 9, 8 and 1 year old and everything was perfect. The rooms were basic but clean and modern and everything we needed was there. We had a very large balcony facing the pool which was great. The hotel grounds were beautiful and kept so well by all the staff. The saltwater pool was a great temperature and the kids spent hours enjoying themselves. We were self catering as we like to go out and see what is about. The hotels location is brilliant. If you leave via the back exit you are right on the beach. There is a lovely cove there that the kids can safely play and very popular with the locals. We went to the beach bar every day enjoying the sunshine and a few drinks. The food there was also fantastic the calamari was some of the best I’ve ever had so fresh. If you walk right from the back gate there are a number of restaurants, supermarkets etc. there was not a huge choice but somewhere that we could eat every night. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel which takes you 10 minutes to the city capital where there is many more restaurants. Could not recommend enough and great for all ages. Very relaxing break.

We had a delightful holiday in La Palma staying at the Hacienda San Jorge in Los Cancajos. The hotel is set in beautifully kept gardens which are a pleasure to wander around. We had a room on the ground floor, which was spacious, clean and well equipped. There is no air conditioning in the room, but we found it was cool enough to sleep if we left a window open. All the staff were really helpful and welcoming. The food in the restaurant is 'buffet style" but for us there was always a nice choice of dishes to enjoy. Be aware though that the area surrounding the hotel only has only a couple of small bars, and there are no shops to wander around. The black sand beach just outside the hotel was almost deserted whist we were there in June 25, so there was plenty of space to sunbathe or swim, although it was very windy on the beach at times. The area around the hotel is very hilly and would not be a suitable for anyone who has difficulty walking. The capitol Santa Cruz is a 10 minute drive from the hotel and a bus leaves every 30 minutes. We hired a car to get around the Island, which we feel is absolutely needed if you want to see its unique beauty. La Palma has a beauty all of its own with Volcanic Ash fields and Tropical forest, picturesque villages and deserted beaches. We rarely go back to places we have been previously as there are so many places in the world to see, but if you have never been to La Palma, the Hotel Hacienda San Jorge is a lovely place to stay and explore it or just to enjoy a rest and be looked after.

Honest review about our stay here. I veered between 3 or 4 out of 5. ||Negative thoughts first:||Room 119A had a bad drains smell when on balcony and was also noisy. Underneath was a service area so could hear washing machine spinning early hours and trolleys being taken there. Got moved after 2 days. ||Lifeguard. On phone constantly. Pacing up and down outside apartment on phone on loudspeaker all day. Told reception who said they take it seriously and will deal with. He certainly wasn’t doing lifeguard duties when we saw him. Other lifeguards we saw did remain by the pool and were observant. ||No air-con and the fan they lend is neither use nor ornament. ||A family ruined the tranquility by playing football next to the pool and sun loungers - and then banging and throwing the football in the pool. This should have been stopped as it’s not a holiday village resort. ||Positives ||Grounds beautiful like an oasis|Pool massive|Loads of sunbeds|Pool towels|Complimentary alcohol free drink at certain times|Ramp into pool for mobility challenged guests |Lovely staff apart from lifeguard not doing his job!|Few restaurants within walking distance |The little shop and the lady who works there so nice. Clean and friendly. ||Overall it is a lovely hotel. We were self catering. Facilities adequate. Room lovely and clean. Absolute bliss when there were no noisy staff or guests round the pool!||Would we return? Undecided.

The Hacienda de San Jorge is truly a little oasis. The modern apartments are nestled in beautifully maintained gardens with many tropical trees and plants. It's a place for couples and families alike. The pool is large and there's always sun beds free. The Hacienda is situated just across from the black sand beach and sits within the cancajos resort, which is uncommercialised and quiet. So if you're looking for a tranquil, friendly and well maintained apartment complex this is your oasis. I know we'll be back.

The service before the arrival was very bad, I wanted to book and the staff was very impolite, saying I could not another two separate nights to an existing booking. The WiFi connection is also horrendous, my laptop doesn't connect, something simpler would be better. Gym is quite old. Otherwise the garten is absolutely Superb and the pool a dream

No aircondition or ventilation on toilet,but beds are good, plenty of room, nice little garden and a big pool. It's close to the airport, the beach and the city of Santa Cruz and yet it's nice and quiet.
