Searching for the Perfect Taco in Tlaxcala, Mexico - AFAR

"An 18th-century colonial estate once owned by a wealthy Spanish count and silver miner, preserved as an atmospheric historical site set near dramatic natural features like basaltic-prism waterfalls; it offers a glimpse into regional mining-era architecture and landscape." - Naomi Tomky

An absolutely charming experience from the moment we checked in. Lots of help getting luggage to our rooms. They serve a great breakfast and I highly recommend you take the guided tour so you can learn the fascinating history of this place.

A wonderful hacienda typical of when the Spaniards established strong presence to mine, extract, process and export silver to Spain. Restaurant is very nice. Grounds are fantastic with guided tours daily at 2pm. Tour is quite theatrical with the history of the hacienda, but it can be quite verbose for a tourist.

Truly the experience of a lifetime. We booked a regular double room and the Cleopatra suite. Both were absolutely lovely. The property is gorgeous and there is so much to explore. The pool is not heated but perfectly fine to take a dip in or play with kids in the part that is not deep. We spent an afternoon at the pool in September and had a great time. Although the menu is not very extensive, we enjoyed our meals and the service was impeccable. The waitress was so attentive and sweet, even with my family's very broken Spanish. During breakfast you eat while seeing dozens of butterflies fly by and with a view of the waterfall. Simply breath-taking. We loved it and will definitely come back!

The hacienda is spectacular. We loved it. Visit all the places inside the hacienda: pool, waterfall, kiss bridge, gardens, etc. The rooms are okay, not as beautiful as the rest of the hacienda though. There is no WiFi in the rooms, only at the restaurant and close to the reception. There is a legend telling tour inside the premises, we did it and it was okay. The legend telling itself was not so interesting, but the rooms and the places you visit in the tour are worth the price.

Take the tour, well worth it, but dont drink the water from the pond!

We did not stay here, just visited. That said, this is one of the more stunning sites to visit in Mexico. An historic hacienda, built with the riches from mining, it's is an expansive compound with beautiful views. It is situated in the valley and has several water features. The most interesting part of the Hacienda is the catacombs. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful historic site.

The place is beautiful. It has amazing views and architecture. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. But the rooms are not well equipped. There is no heat or air conditioning. It was very humid. It was not very clean. The bathroom did not flush properly. There is no wifi or cell reception.

It was a nice place but not much to do here. It is a little expensive. The room s are simple but nice. No wifi except in common areas. Food service is a little slow but food was good. Staff is nice. All stone walkways, so difficult to walk around. Wheelchairs might have some difficulty. American breakfast is rather small. Place is clean. Shower we had needs some maintenance as the hot water valve was not working well and light switch in bathroom needed replacement.
