I had a lovely stay overall. I really appreciated the hotel’s beautiful French-style villa decor — it’s full of charm and character, exactly the kind of atmosphere I enjoy. The front desk staff were also incredibly warm and welcoming. When they found out I was in town for an exam and needed a desk to study, he kindly arranged for me to switch to a room with a desk right away — I’m very grateful for that.||||The only downside was the smell in the room. On the first night, I thought it was the smell of paint — it gave me a headache and made me drowsy all night, even with the balcony door open for ventilation. The next day, things seemed to improve, and I thought perhaps airing out the room had worked. However, after housekeeping came and sprayed the disinfectant/fragrance mist, I realized that was the source of the smell! It was extremely unpleasant and made my head hurt again. I suspect it might have contained eucalyptus oil or something similar, as it made me feel dizzy and sleepy. I ended up having to keep the balcony door wide open and leave the room for some fresh air.||||It did affect my study progress and concentration slightly, but thankfully, I still passed my exam — haha! I sincerely hope the hotel will consider choosing room fragrances more carefully in the future. Disinfection is important, of course, but please try to find a better balance for the comfort of guests.||||Thank you again for the otherwise lovely experience.

Thank you for such a gorgeous stay! The scent of the hotel as you walk through the entrance is exquisite and complimented so beautifully by the friendly and lovely staff members. Our hotel suite was so clean, fresh, spacious and elegant. The staff had our room ready hours before check in, even though we didn’t ask for this, (so this was a heavenly surprise) and they generously looked after our luggage following check out so that we could enjoy our last day as a full day of sightseeing.|Hadley’s Orient Hotel is such a beautiful hotel, in a perfect spot, close to everything you need for a super fun holiday on foot in Hobart. All access to everything transport needed if travelling further a field each day also. We loved, loved our stay-thank you!|Jenny-Maree and Damien

I recently visited Tasmania for a week and spent 3 of those days in Hadley’s hotel. Those three days were great. The service was great and the workers were very kind and welcoming. It was very easy to get to our room with four bags thanks to the hotel providing a baggage trolley for us. The room was very clean and felt very much like it was in the 1800’s whilst still having modern ammenities. The bar also had a nostalgic vibe to it, and the bartenders were very friendly and definitely knew what they were doing. There was also a chess set that made the bar fun. The hotel also provided a lot of history about it that was very interesting. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Hadley as it was close to many restaurants .It's central position made it easy to visit many attractions in Hobart by foot. If you like older style accommodation in a heritage listed building then this is the place to go. Staff were terrific and nothing was too much trouble. Happy hour from 4 to 6 pm was popular with many guests. Anthony on the front desk always had a warm and caring personality and made us feel at home. However parking is offsite 10 mins away. Our stay was for 7 days and we were sad to leave.

I stayed at Hadley’s Orient Hotel for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room I had was surprisingly large — it felt more like a small apartment than a standard hotel room, which made the stay extra comfortable. The nostalgic look and feel of the hotel really add to its charm, with beautiful old-world details throughout that take you back in time in the best possible way. Breakfast was a highlight each morning, with a good continental spread to start the day. For something more substantial, there was also the option to order à la carte, which I appreciated. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with anything I needed. If you're looking for a place with character, comfort, and a touch of history, Hadley’s is a great choice.

Our first choice in Hobart due to its location, warmth of staff and historical character filled interior and building. We love the music, how the space feels upon entering and the charming vibe. The hotel bar with fireplace and beautiful interior and dining/breakfast options are also excellent, and some evenings there is live piano. We are always looked after at this hotel and why we keep coming back!

We loved everything about Hadley's. The air con works great, the wifi is fast, and the rooms are quiet and roomy. When you step into the lobby, you take a step back in time. They have a happy hour with great prices and a fantastic atmosphere.

If you want an authentic Tasmania. Experience, this is the hotel to stay in. Rooms are restored tastefully, bed and pillows are super comfortable, well heated and lit with lamps due to the age of the building built before electricity! Coffee machine and pods supplied (Nespresso equivalent).||Bathrooms are renovated beautifully supplied with quality shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer and amenities.||Staff are friendly & helpful (shoutout to Ash on the front desk) and the bar is lovely, warm and comfortable (and the drinks are spot on). ||Priced exceptionally well compared to other capital cities in Australia!||Short walk to the Elizabeth St mall and to Salamanca.||Absolutely loved our stay and would definitely return!

Yelp
Upon checkin there was only one employee working. The phone rang continually while she tried to check me in, she apologized profusely. I was upgraded to a superior room. It was located facing the street which made it incredibly noisy. The room was large and clean bathroom nice not enough counter space to do makeup and cannot plug hair tools in bathroom. I came back from a tour late on A holiday with a raging headache. I asked the gal at counter if they had a sundries shop where I could get Advil. She said Woolworths may still be open, at that point it wasn't and I just needed something. How does a hotel not sell aspirin, toothpaste etc!? She didn't offer to get 1st air kit, nothing. I called down a short time later it have them arrange for a cab to airport in the morning. She didn't want to do it she wanted me to wait until the morning. Not being a morning person and a planner I didn't want to wait, she never did call me back to confirm so I had to call in the morning anyways. Ordered room service it was quick and tasty. Overall hotel is nice and I enjoyed my stay..

Yelp
As the website says this hotel has a touch of the past and the present, it literally does... there is a 1836 part of the hotel which is kept that way and trust me you'd don't want to stay there. However the modern setup looks very elegant. I stayed here on a business visit for 5 nights, the rooms are pretty good but it looks like they want to give their guests the impression of they being cash struck. The lady from housekeeping did not think twice before telling us that have run out of soaps and we have to adjust with some body wash. Yes this is what exactly she said :) They say that the guest laundry is present, if you want to use it please be ready to get the feeling that you are washing it in a public toilet with no maintenance. It looks harsh but I am saying exactly what I felt when I entered there. The positive is the food, room service was good and got us some very well done pizza. Overall it's not too bad for staying a couple of days there but I won't recommend it if you have other options.

Yelp
Stayed here on a 3 day trip to Hobart. It has a very quaint, very classic feel to it, and the look they are going for is definitely a "period decor". So if you want quaint charm, this is the place to go. However, they could still have quaint charm with some updated facilities. For instance, they have a TV, but this was very old rear projection TV, with terrible reception/picture quality. On the plus side, they do have a DVD with movies available at the counter, so they must realise the reception is terrible. The room is tiny, no fan or extractor in the bathroom and no windows so forget using the mirror after a shower. The towels are torn and raggedy (I'd seen reviews on tripadvisor state this, but didn't believe it til I saw it) and the carpets and furnishing in general were in a worn state. I had a selection of dishes from room service. The squid starter was tiny for the price although it tasted good. The pizza breads were dry. Chips were fine and the cheese plate a little disappointing (this is Tasmania..... how can you have such a bland cheese plate???!!). It's in a great location and it has historical and classic charm, but honestly, I've stayed in better guesthouses and for the price, you can get far far better.

Yelp
We booked a "Superior" room weeks in advance. Small room, mold in shower, taped together remote and a view of an alley.

Yelp
Absolutely a lovely hotel! From the time I checked in to the time I checked out, I received exceptional customer service! The lobby is welcoming, the ambiance is friendly and the hotel staff are all absolutely lovely! The rooms are a bit small, but I didn't come for a weekend trip to Tasmania to hang out in my room! The bed was simply amazing! There was a feather topper on the bed which made it feel as though I was sleeping on a cloud! I enjoyed dinner at the bar, one of the best meals I've enjoyed in a while! I had a Tasmanian eye filet with mushrooms, asparagus and wedges! The steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and was so tender it melted in my mouth! Ordered room service for breakfast and it was equally delicious! I highly recommend Hadley's for your place to stay when visiting Hobart, Tasmania!!!

Yelp
Had a lovely breakfast at Hadleys this morning...food, staff and old world charm all perfect. I've not stayed in the hotel but ive always loved visiting for the food and amazing bar....you really get the feeling of steping back in time. The building is absolutely stunning....im the one sitting in the corner of the bar stairing at the ceiling features and paint job.

Yelp
The worst experience ever and I would never stay at Hadley's again! My wife and I booked accommodation for the evening after our wedding. After a very long day and night we got to the hotel to be told we didn't have a booking. It took nearly 30 mins for them to finally find our name and confirm our booking. They were extremely apologetic and we understood these things happen. But after unloading everything once in our room and taking forever to get all of my new brides hair pins out and getting out of the wedding dress/suit that we had been stuck in for most of the day, we were extremely disappointed and frustrated to find we had no hot water? After all this is a basic necessity that is provided in even the cheapest hotels and we had paid a reasonable amount of money for a room with a spa. We could not get any answers out of reception so decided to forget about it and go to bed as we were exhausted and assumed it would be ok in the morning. No! Still no hot water the next day. What a disaster. After an extremely hectic day/evening, we had to pack up and check out without getting to freshen up at all. We Would have rather just stayed in our own home where we could have at least showered. The manger explained they had an issue with the hot water unit and could not get it fixed overnight, but was not very apologetic. She eventually offered to deduct our breakfast charge. Wow thanks! A free breakfast for ruining what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of our lives. Apart from that experience, the rooms are old and outdated, cramped and small, If the sound of yelling from drunk patrons below doesn't keep you awake all night then the bells from the church opposite chiming will. Not worth 1/4 of the overpriced rate!
