Stayed here on a 3 day trip to Hobart. It has a very quaint, very classic feel to it, and the look they are going for is definitely a "period decor". So if you want quaint charm, this is the place to go.
However, they could still have quaint charm with some updated facilities. For instance, they have a TV, but this was very old rear projection TV, with terrible reception/picture quality. On the plus side, they do have a DVD with movies available at the counter, so they must realise the reception is terrible.
The room is tiny, no fan or extractor in the bathroom and no windows so forget using the mirror after a shower.
The towels are torn and raggedy (I'd seen reviews on tripadvisor state this, but didn't believe it til I saw it) and the carpets and furnishing in general were in a worn state.
I had a selection of dishes from room service. The squid starter was tiny for the price although it tasted good. The pizza breads were dry. Chips were fine and the cheese plate a little disappointing (this is Tasmania..... how can you have such a bland cheese plate???!!).
It's in a great location and it has historical and classic charm, but honestly, I've stayed in better guesthouses and for the price, you can get far far better.
