This is the hidden gem of Huatulco! Armando and Rodrigo are father and son living at one with nature and honoring the old ways of living. You can experience ancient ways of cooking, tropical fruits you never tasted before, a tour in the beautiful botanical garden, amazing zip line tour through their domain and end the day with a refreshing dip in the waterfall. The nature sounds of all the beautiful birds and other animals will make you relax in such a deep way that you will not want to leave the place. Get ready for a deep nature immersion. Sleep in a hammock or the cabins and enjoy a deep sleep, only to wake up with the beautiful bird music. Nature really heals over here! I wish I could add the bird sounds to the review..

Fantastic experience! Rodrigo is a wonderful host. His knowledge of the area is impressive and we were so inspired by his deep love of Huatulco and his plans to help the community. The tour of the grounds is an easy walk and very interesting. The meals were simple, but incredibly delicious... I am still thinking about it! And the dip in the waterfalls was a great end to a wonderful day! Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our visit greatly! We booked a flower tour through the main website and were the only guests for the morning. The hosts were very generous with their time and knowledge of the area, and clearly take great pride in stewarding the land and creating a project that seeks to bring value to the surrounding community. The food was excellent as well, we had two meals cooked in the outdoor kitchen and got to try lots of fruit. The diversity of plants from all over the world was intriguing and the swim at the small pool/waterfall was enjoyable! The trails are fairly short, but there was lots of insects, birds, and plants to take in.

This is a beautiful place and lovely tour. The property is owned by a family who planted all of the fruit trees and flowers. The son, Rodrigo does most of the tours personally and works with another experienced local guide. They include pick-up and drop-off and a delicious breakfast and lunch with local coffee, fruit, and agua de jamaica. We don't usually do many tours but this one is well worth it to see the mountains, amazing flowers, landscape, and swim in a waterfall.

We had the pleasure of meeting a passionate father-and-son duo who have dedicated themselves to their lifelong project: Hagia Sofia Eco Farm. The entire trip was fantastic. We traveled in a comfortable, air-conditioned van along a scenic route that passed through local towns and villages. As we drove higher into the mountains, the landscape became increasingly greener. Rodrigo, our guide (the saon), pointed out various local plants and trees along the way, making the journey even more interesting. We made a quick stop to pick up some beers and fresh avocados for the guacamole we would later enjoy for lunch. Upon arriving at the farm, we were welcomed by the soothing sounds of nature—birds singing, bees buzzing—and the faint, pleasant scent of smoke from the outdoor kitchen. It felt like paradise: peaceful and serene. Our visit began with a breakfast of tropical fruits, crispy tortillas with fresh guacamole, and refreshing carambola (star fruit) juice. Afterward, we took a leisurely walk across the river and through the gardens, where Rodrigo enthusiastically shared his knowledge of the farm’s diverse fruit trees and plants. He spoke passionately about their origins, blooming seasons, and fruit-bearing cycles, making the experience both informative and inspiring. The gardens were amazing, and we found ourselves wishing we could stay a few nights in one of their cabins just to experience a sunrise walk through the lush greenery. We spotted hummingbirds, a woodpecker, lizards and some colorful butterflies. The variety of plants, from native species to those from faraway lands, was truly impressive. One unexpected surprise was discovering clean, well-maintained restrooms (not an outhouse) at the end of the garden walk—complete with running water and paper towels—in the heart of the jungle! Next, we embarked on five exhilarating zip-line rides, each offering breathtaking 360° views of the surrounding mountains and forests. The local guides were incredibly helpful and attentive, even carrying my backpack and assisting with filming as my daughter and I soared through the treetops and over the riverbed. After all the excitement, we sat down for lunch prepared by local women in the outdoor kitchen. That was followed by a refreshing swim in the river with a small waterfall. The mountain air was noticeably cooler and breezier than the coastal heat, making the dip even more enjoyable. Before heading back, we explored an area where mangosteen and rambutan trees grow and discovered an abundance of other fruit trees and plants, including mango, papaya, avocado, pineapple etc. The entire experience was unforgettable—a blend of adventure, relaxation and appreciation for nature. Hagia Sofia Eco Farm is a truly special place, and we left feeling inspired by the dedication and passion of the family behind it.

The experience included a tour of the site’s flowers and vegetation along with a breakfast and lunch made with traditional Oaxaca ingredients. We also enjoyed a refreshing swim in a local river. The people were great, especially our guide, Omar, our driver Alec, and our host, Rodrigo. Very worthwhile tour!

Rodrigo picked us up at our place in Santa Cruz and took us on a wonderful tour of his Hagia Sofia. They have planted so many fruits and flowers. We were given breakfast and lunch and a tour of their plantings. We swam in their waterfall, and it was much warmer than expected. We plan to stay at least one night in their rustic scenic cabins when we return next year.
