Hahn Horticulture Garden

I had my wedding at the Hahn Horticulture Garden this past weekend and couldn't have been happier. The grounds had a wide variety of locations available for my event; from an indoor tearoom space with large windows, to a outdoor roofed marquise, to a lovely lawn that is perfect for wedding ceremonies, I couldn't have picked a better spot. They offer time the day before for setup and have someone on hand available to help. They have clear and fair requirements for hosting an event there and are very communicative and helpful. I could not have been happier!

This garden is stunning & a must see for anyone in the area. The wide variety of different plants and flowers is stunning. I will say the Koi fish pond has gone downhill in the past 3 years. The water looks filthy and their fish population has begun to dwindle. I've also smelled strong chemicals coming out of the sprinklers that spray into the Koi pond.

It probably was the time of the year, we went in the end of December. Not much in terms of foliage to see, it wasn’t as exciting. The ponds weren’t very clean. There was nobody around. The place sits on the middle of Virginia tech, geese pond and other nearby places are gorgeous though..

This is one of my favorite places to just bliss out! I am so entranced by the attention to detail in this garden. The walkways are lit up in the evenings. The sunset is Gorgeous and the Virginia Tech campus in the background just gives it a total romantic ambiance! I took the doggies there for a stroll on Sunday and the weather was Beautiful too! I would highly recommend this place to experience nature at its finest! To all the students, staff and Horticulturists that maintain these gardens 👏🏻 job well done! ♥️💯 💐 🌺

I wanted to take some pictures here and it did not disappoint. It is several seating areas set up in the sun and some in the shade. There is a cute little pond, with a mini waterfall and bridge. Some of the areas have some rocks that are cute for pictures, too. There are some random sculptures in the gardens. One of them was women-like and a little creepy. I plan to return during a different season to see what is looks like at different times.

My brother is having his wedding here today. The garden is beautiful. Lots of nice little spots for pictures. Has a pond. There's some ducks. Paved walkways. Racks for bicycle parking. Pretty plants. Good view of the Virginia Tech baseball field.

Fabulous stroll through a beautiful garden on a cool summer night. Was a little put off by the jankey bamboo gardens up front, but keep walking and you'll be embraced by all of the beautiful plantings. The lights at night made the path seem almost magical. Amazing variety of plants to view and beautiful water features. More chipmunks and rabbits than we could count. Obviously well-planned and even better tended. Wonderful!

I attended VT and have lived in this area for over 30 years, and I had never actually gone into these gardens. They just seemed to occupy so little space, I couldn't imagine that they amounted to much. In fact, they were a surprising delight, despite it being late Fall, and there was more to them than I realized. Absolutely worth a visit, and a great place to chill out. There's flowing water, a pond, some wooded glades, and lots of little nooks and crannies to relax in.

The university has a constructed garden kind of on the edge near where the academic buildings end and the sports start. It has a variety of interesting plant life and the pond was filled with some lively fish. It's not a major destination like the botanical gardens and arboretums I've seen at some other universities, which was a bit of a surprise, but it's a nice place to stop through.

Stunning. Absolutely stunning. This seven acre garden is located on the Virginia Tech campus and does that a little winding to access. Established in 1984 as the Virginia Tech Horticulture Garden, it was renamed in 2004 to honor Mrs. Hahn and her husband, T. Marshall Hahn, former president of Virginia Tech (1962-1974). All features have been built and planted by students, staff, faculty, and volunteers. Several benches throughout allow you to sit in the shade, perhaps near the small waterfall, to relax and shut out the outside world. It is extremely peaceful and beautiful. The only problem I found was that parking is a PITA. Fortunately, there were a lot of open spaces and it seems like whoever patrols was off today. I do not have a VT decal and was not bothered. Located on the historic campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, this small green space and garden is a really nice place to come and relax and enjoy the scenery. There are often private events going on so be sure to check ahead before coming. Very nice place to visit and recommended.

We were in Blacksburg for an event that was canceled at the last minute, so we looked for things to do. Enjoying nature and gardening, we visited the Hahn Horticulture Garden twice. It was really beautiful with a variety of flowers and plants. The hardest part was dealing with the parking system. We first had to go to the Visitor Center. Instead of giving us a visitor parking pass to put on our car, they handed us a ParkMobile instruction card for contactless parking payments (note that they handed it to us). After following the directions on the website, we figured out the system. The zone # is the same for anywhere on campus, so we also parked at the Alumni Center and walked to the duck pond for another nature walk.

This is on the campus. I would say the only downside to visiting was that you needed a special permit to park outside and it closes at 5pm. A beautiful sanctuary and unusual plants.

Absolutely gorgeous - well maintained and is a very nice place to take a walk, read, or take photos. I've also attended events at the Hahn pavilion and they have been great. The facility is always clean and is a nice size for a smaller gathering.
