Haida House at Tllaal | Lodge & Cabins

We spent four nights at Haida House at Tlaal in October and had a wonderful stay. Check-in was quick, and everything was prepared for us when we arrived. We visited as a family of four adults and one toddler, and although we originally booked a regular hotel room, the management generously upgraded us. The resort grounds were very clean and well maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our cabin felt new and came well equipped with towels, kitchen items, and small appliances, and the beds were very comfortable with clean, fresh sheets. While the location is outside of cell service, the resort’s Wi-Fi worked very well. Situated between the Tlell River and the ocean, the property offers a perfect setting for storm watching, especially in the off-season. Each cabin has a spotless hot tub, and parking is available onsite. There is also a lovely outdoor lounge and BBQ area with two high-quality grills, although we didn’t get a chance to use it. During one evening, a fallen tree nearby caused a brief power outage, and the staff checked in on us right away and even offered space in the main building if needed. Thanks to propane heating, we were still able to shower, and the power returned within a few hours. The resort is only about 30 minutes from Skidegate and very easy to get to, making it a convenient base for exploring. Overall, it was a peaceful and scenic stay, and the off-season atmosphere made the natural beauty even more special. We highly recommend this stay, whether you’re visiting during regular season or the quieter off-season.

I stayed at Haida House with my husband and in-laws while on a 4-day tour organized by Haida Tourism. Our cabin had a beautiful common room with high ceilings and a wall of windows with a view of the ocean. I used the hot tub on the deck every night. My only complaint about the cabin is that there isn't anywhere to put your clothes. The bedroom was very small. We moved the bed away from the wall so we could both get in and out of bed, but then there was barely enough room to scoot out. A small closet had four hangers, and that was it. Not even hooks on the wall to hang clothes! But other than that, the cabin was lovely! The restaurant exceeded all expectations. The tour included "all you can eat" dining at the restaurant, so over the course of our stay we got to taste everything, and it wall all exceptional! Honestly, we talked about those brussels sprouts for days afterwards! My only note on the restaurant is that the cocktails were inconsistent. The same cocktail ordered on two consecutive nights tasted very differently. The staff were lovely. I highly recommend!

My brother, father, cousin, son and nephew stayed here on the last night of a hunting trip. I was very pleasantly surprised. The facility was beautiful and our meal was fantastic. If I had one criticism it would be that when I called multiple numbers provided online one came up disconnected and one no one picked up. However I was able to book a couple rooms with the lady running the restaurant. Beautiful place would like to stay in a cabin next time.

I was just at Haida House for their 4-night all inclusive package with my wife and parents. Haida Gwaii has been a place we've wanted to visit for a long time and this trip checked all the boxes and many we did not expect.||Daryel was our driver/tour guide for the 5 days. Besides being an excellent driver who kept us on time, he shared his knowledge and experiences which enriched our trip. He was always kind and respectful and went above and beyond. He arrived early when needed and ensured we had what we needed as well as a clean bus.||Meishon was our guide for two days and I can't speak highly enough of him. He is young, knowledgeable, bright, and brought the trip to life. His enthusiasm for the Haida culture and future is palpable. Meishon has a bright future of possibilities ahead of him, I can't wait to see what he does!||The day trip to Louise Island and K'uuna Linagaay was amazing. The Moresby guide was excellent and the tour by the Watchmen was incredible. We learned so much about the Haida history, culture, and what is currently going on with artifacts. The weather was spectacular, the lunch provided by Moresby was incredible, and we saw whales on the return trip. Couldn't ask for a better day.||At Haida House, the food at the restaurant was way more than we were expecting. It's not often that people are raving about brussel sprouts, but most of us were. Everything we tried on the menu was excellent as was the service. The 2 bedroom cabins were comfortable and all have decks with hot tubs which were greatly appreciated.||Thank you for an experience of a lifetime.

This hotel is set in a beautiful location close to the beach. It’s cozy, neat, and offers a fair standard of comfort. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, which made our stay very enjoyable. The restaurant serves delicious, high-quality food, though it’s not quite equipped to handle large groups. Overall, we had a very good experience and would recommend it.

… what a magnificent retreat 🤓… enjoyed two nights in one of these wonderful cabins listening the rolling waves of the pacific and the rain on the roof during the first night … and got a chance for two dinners choosing the „fish of the day“-option followed by the „desert of the day“ too - both were absolutely delicious creations - so thanks so, so much to the girls taking care of us and serving us the dishes and especially the chef, creating so incredible tasty longcod-meals!!!! 🙏🙏🙏 And not to forget the Haida plum margaritas - just the topping of all! 🤩 Hopefully we get a chance to come back! 😎

We stayed 4 nights at Haida House. It was wonderful. We stayed in the lodge, but we walked out to the cabins on the beach. next time we will stay there. It's so beautiful. The restaurant was amazing! The best on the Islands. We had already stayed 4 previous nights in old Masset and were so happy when we arrived at Haida House. We ate dinner there 4 nights! Awesome chef! Breakfast is out of this world! Will absolutely stay again.

Air Canada strike prevented us from going to Haida Gwaii so we tried for a full 8 days to continually contact them and rebook. But after 4 phone calls (nobody would answer), and messages left each time, we sent multiple emails through their website and again nobody answered, until 36 hours prior to our flight. They dismissed our enquiry and told us to talk to our insurance company. We just wanted to reschedule! This is a TERRIBLE hotel to book if you think you will get any customer service. The insurance did not cover an airline strike so we are out nearly $600. What a shame - I have to believe other hotels in Haida Gwaii would've been happy to help us reschedule. Shame on Haida House at Tllaal!!
