Great service and very friendly staff. The rooms and facilities are very neat and you have a privacy option with the curtain in the shared rooms. Extending my stay was no problem and got a great price. Love the location, near the centre and close to the botanical gardens.

Very nice hostel ! I stayed in the Girl 3 Beds dorm and it was very pretty. Two beds even had a curtain for privacy. The whole hose was extremely clean and staff was very nice. You can also leave your bag there over the day.

Modern room with a fridge for an excellent price. They had self check in machines which I found quite cool. Well equipped kitchens too, large common areas and a laundry room. I would definitely return! The only negative point was, that we had to walk outside to get to the bathroom.

This hostel is an absolute gem! 🌟 We only stayed one night, but WOW—it left a mark. 🏨 Super close to the city center, with all the must-see spots just a stroll away. 🚶‍♀️✨ And the staff? Total rockstars! 🎸 Always there with a smile, ready to help with info or fulfill any request like magic. 🪄 If you're looking for the perfect place to stay, this is IT!

Good location, building map are quite complex. The quality of bedroom is good, but the wall cannot prevent any noise from outside. I heard the sound of walking and door-opening/closing many times during my entire night. They have 2 kitchens but I used the smaller one. It's good quality.

It is located in a great place. It is a super place with a very nicely decorated architecture. The rooms were furnished the same as in Wellington. You can park your car for free on the street in front of the building. They have a nice system for late check-in.

The hostel itself is fine. Facilities are clean. Rooms are small. Dead vibe. What I hate is the techy part of it. 1 booking results in 5 emails in my inbox. 2 of which asking to "pre-checking". I guess that's a process for those who want to minimize human interaction. Then comes the spam. Spam spam spam. Never opted in. No unsubscribe mechanism. Also, the coffee and laundry machines are IoT devices, asking for your credit card. Those " smart" devices get hacked all the time by pros, let alone some hostel third party. They're a common way to get your personal data stolen. Cherry on the cake: do you like to chill to techno/trance music? Me neither. Yet, it's programmed to play every afternoon in the common area. Will avoid Haka altogether from now on.

After transitioning from YHA about 12 months ago, which is now complete, Haka House in Christchurch boasts a fantastic location, excellent facilities, and the best bunk beds I've ever encountered in a hostel dormitory. You can walk to the city centre and Riverside market in 10 minutes at a leisurely pace, and Hagley Park about the same. The bunk beds are solid, the ladders to climb to the top bunk are incredibly stable, and the behind-the-pillow shelves for your phone, wallet, AirPods, water bottles etc overnight, along with the charge points, is an absolute dream. All beds have under-bed, lockable storage, along with lockers in the room as well. Food options are plentiful, and a range of bus connections let you easily roam the city. Have stayed here multiple times now, and would do so again!
