7 local foods to try in Fukuoka - SilverKris

"A well-loved destination for motsunabe, a belly-warming hotpot of cow and pig offal with leek, bean sprouts and cabbage simmered in a miso- or soy-based broth; the collagen-rich stock deepens and sweetens as it boils, and the dish is prized for both comfort and perceived skin-beautifying benefits." - MICHELE KOH MOROLLO

Traditional fukoka pot that can't be treated in other regions. Food are tasty but a bit salty for the miso favour hotpot Congee and noodle are so delicious when added at the end of the meal. Location a bit far from city centre, but open till late and for free parking outside the shop.

All the staff with whom I have interacted were very nice, polite and helpful. For me it was an amazing experience because it was my first time eating motsunabe. Let's start with the seating: you sit on the floor, on a pillow and the is a hole underneath the table for your legs. Very confy. There was an english menu so it's easy to order. I picked the miso broth, it really was out of this world. Never had a miso broth that tasted like this in my life. The portion for the price is very reasonable. The veggies were fresh, the additional seasoning that they bring you were tasty, the intestine, if you are not affraid of tasting it and don't mind eating fat, is a bit chewy but in combination with the fat, wich renders all the flavor as you chew the whole thing makes it a unique experience, at least for me it was.

This Hakata’s one of the most traditional style of food should shared with your friends or family. Love it and very powerful, make you gain for tomorrow’s sight seeing or work! Enjoy until the end of course, Cheers.

Motsunabe is a must try, being a famous Fukuoka dish. However, it as a hard to acquire taste. Some Western tongues will find the fat, well, too fatty. This place is way out of the way, with absolutely nothing around. So, it’s probably best to just try closer to the tourist spots as this meal may not be as memorable as you’d like. As to the restaurant; clean, good quality (if you like offals), but location, location, location.

Very tasty miso motsunabe, the addition mentai is very generous for the price. Very complex, rich and creamy, space also very good. Relatively good price for offering, tough is expensive compare to other motsunabe stores in the country.

Motsunabe Yamanaka Honten in Fukuoka not only delights with its motsunabe—especially the rich, flavorful miso option—but also impresses with its lovely building and helpful staff. The offal's texture is top-notch, and the soup is irresistibly rich and authentic. Though English communication may be limited, the staff's dedication to service shines through. The restaurant also offers convenient parking. Don't miss out on adding egg and rice to your pot for a perfect porridge finale. A five-star experience; I'll definitely return.

Very angry at their service. Delivered my order in perfect japanese when i entered the store, said ok and waited for 30 min and they said the order was not delivered. And blaming me for that order was supposed to be done at the table-can be. But what about not saying anything for 30 min without any double-check? Because of my check in time, i had to leave without eating anything(they wanted to sell so much saying i could eat hot pot jn 20 min) Thx for that, i couldnt eat anything until check in because of this. Thought an hr and half would be very enough but they blew out my time. Not checking a customers order for 30 min and saying that you didnt make order for 30 min, since i did when i entered and they said ok. Is this an out of season April fool’s joke?

The place is a bit expensive. The soup is tasty but all you get for 4500 yen(for two) is some vegetables and scrap meat. If you're willing to spend a lot of money to try something new this place is for you.
