Yelp
We were out all day shopping in Fukuoka and since this was our last night we HAD to get there before heading home. It was an arduous task just getting there. We took a bus, train, and walked to this restaurant.
The weather was a little cold and wet but it would make our find even sweeter. All the that you may have read on Yelp are all true. Our experience was phenomenal, it probably would have been better to make a reservation but I wasn't sure how long it would take us to get there. Nevertheless we got there about 630p and a large part just left. I mentioned we didn't have any reservations so he asked us to "choto mate kudasai". A minute later he came back and said he could give us a table but we'd have to complete dinner by 800p. (Happy/relieved dance!)
Being escorted to your table, you sit on the floor while your legs dangle under the table. I believe it's called a hori seating.
We ordered a couple of appetizers for starters- mentaiko, beef cheeks, and turnip kimchee. The mentaiko was very good, a little on the salty side but that was to be expected. My husband enjoyed the beef cheeks he said it was very soft more like a stewed consistency, and the kimchee was crispy and work well with the soup to come.
When the stew/soup arrived they turned on the stove and let it start to heat up, the waiter came over and said the soup was ready and to go ahead and add the veggie. Just heavenly...the broth was thick, the intestines were soft, the veggies were still little crunchy. Ahh it was worth the bus ride, train ride, and walk.
Whenever we go back to Fukuoka this will definitely be a stop and I'll make reservations!
