Admire the value of the shop: create “bean-to-bar” chocolate. Love the whisky favour chocolate however it only sells with a box set. And sold out today... It will renew your perception of the liquor chocolate. If you love whisky, you will love it!

Hakawa Chocolate is a neat little place to find on the corner of Gough Street just next to the steep staircase leading down to Queen's Road Central. This is a tiny shop that deals in handmade chocolate bars and rich, flavourful cups of hot chocolate. Opening hours are 1 to 7pm (Tues to Sun). They are closed on Sundays. I recently stopped by and very much enjoyed a cup of 70% chocolate with whole milk. The hot chocolate was made to order. The shopkeeper informed of the bean used from Vietnam to produce the chocolate and mentioned that a bit of salt had been mixed in to accentuate the natural chocolate flavour. The hot chocolate was served with an interesting steamy and slightly foamy texture, not milky nor thick. Overall, my hot chocolate was really good, something I look forward to enjoying again in the near future, especially as we approach the cooler winter months.

Finally tried this place but honestly was slightly disappointed. Opted for the 74% iced chocolate but the texture wasn’t smooth enough, still had grains of chocolate bits which made the texture a little unpleasant. Left it for a while till it was room temperature and the grains has melted but kind of defeats the purpose of getting iced chocolate. Chocolate wasn’t rich enough tasted more like just regular milk chocolate, perhaps should have gotten the 100% dark chocolate one if you wants a dark chocolate milk. However the drink wasn’t overly sweet so that was good.

Spotted this joint a while ago but it was too hot to try in the summer. I was in the area so finally tried the hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is very different to the chocolate drinks available which are made with cocoa powder or chocolate syrup. The drinks here are made from the cacao bean which has a stronger and fruity taste if you can imagine coffee straight from the beans. The smell is very different so be warned. Basically it was like drinking a chocolate version of coffee and it is quite bitter and fruity at the same time. After drinking it, my pulse went so the caffeine in it must be strong. Will be back to try the cold chocolate as the milk content in that is different and the staff here are really friendly.

Delicious coco drink! And salute to their attitude of having original hand make chocolate in house, so that they can have total control of the quality of their products. I ordered the sea salt chocolate drink, it was super tasty. Will recommend all my coco addict friends to come visit and try.

The BEST artisan chocolate bean-to-bar maker in Hong Kong. Located in a tiny triangular corner at the end of Gough Street. It is run by mother and daughter. Here you can find different interesting combination of cocoa and fruits and nuts.

So happy to find this. I got the cold 74% drinking chocolate with whole milk and it was even better than I expected! Not sweet -- don't expect typical "hot chocolate" flavor. They said the beans are from Ecuador. If you love dark chocolate (actual chocolate, not chocolate-flavored candy), you will be happy. A heads up: Although they opened at 12, they had a sign stuck on the menu saying that they don't serve drinking chocolate until 1 pm. Not sure whether this is always the case, but if you're planning to get a drink, maybe plan on arriving an hour after they open. Edit: Went back again recently shortly before closing, and drinks were sold out. So don't go too late!

I really enjoyed this small hole in the wall spot that specializes in chocolate drinks. I opted for the 72% dark and wasn't disappointed. A great afternoon snack for a hot Hong Kong day. I plan on trying the strongest chocolate concoction the next time I go. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area of after a bowl of Kau Kee, which is a stones throw away.
