The facility is convenient to find and close to little shops in the town. The local coffee shop across the street was great. The park next door made a fun place to hang out and look at, but also had the drawback of attracting some loud neighbors late at night. Loved the shore that was just outside, and the sound of the waves and the birds! Loved the constant breeze blowing through the condo. The kitchen was tiny but very functional. The beds were all comfortable. They provided beach chairs, beach towels, and a little ice chest which helped us bring our own lunch places. There was a pretty steady stream of tiny ant-like bugs in the bathroom and occasionally in the kitchen. The landscaping around the facility was lovely. The grill outside (by the waves!) worked very well and we enjoyed the community sharing the use of the grills!

Had a great stay. Perfect location with tons of food options close by. Near a nice little beach that is great for kids.

Stayed here back in March 2020 and after staying at another condo (June 2021) with AC I’d recommend Hale Kai Oceanfront. The room is dated but gives a nice rustic old Hawaii feel, convenient close to whalers village and Lahaina. Everyone we ran into was really friendly and outgoing with conversations. We booked on Chasing Rainbows website and everything was a breeze from check-in to checkout. Obviously AC would be nice but definitely not a deal breaker and for the cost of this place you can’t beat it for the location.

Waking up to this every morning we stayed there. Beautiful. Definitely would stay here again.

Google
Really great place for a relaxing time off, right at the beach. A bit small for four but would definitely do it again. There is a park nearby in case the private beach is too small or gets boring. There's also a grocery store (Times) that has all you need for the time being there. Nice sunsets with a view of Molokai in the background.

Really cute spot right on the beach-- definitely feels more local than touristy. Lots of shops within walking distance, and it's a nice quiet area for couples and families. One thing to note-- no AC/heat, however it's very comfortable with the windows open and the breeze coming off the ocean. Listening to the waves just lulled us to sleep. Excellent views, very communicative staff, comfy beds, plenty of towels and toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, etc.

Great apartments for rent. We stayed 5 people in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom place and it was great. The service is good too. We asked for mosquitos repellent and dishwasher pods and they gave us everything. You do have to pay for laundry so that is a down side. It’s 2.50 for washer and 2.25 for dryer.

Google
A-ma-zing place! Our condo had everything we needed and more. The host was suuuper helpful and the place was super well located, it had a small beach at its side, shops in front and a nice park to the side. Couldnt recommendate it more.

Yelp
We had a great stay in #215 at Hale Kai. Upon arriving to the condo we were greeted with an amazing view of the ocean from our balcony, there was music playing, fans blowing, and the place was very clean and well stocked. Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Pros: location and access to the beach park next door as well as the Natural Foods store and other shops. Parking is easy. We liked that this place is small in comparison to the big resorts, low key and family friendly. The kitchen and bathroom are updated and everything worked well, the bed was comfortable and the balcony is great for watching whales and turtles. There is only one drawback with the noise from the street (we had one night of cruisers revving up their engines), but this comes with the convenience of being close to everything. If you are a light sleeper this may bother you, but I live in an urban setting so it's not a big deal for me. We will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I thought it was great. Pool and beach view from my unit 115. Really nice beach park for the kids next door. Coffee, groceries, and food trucks all within short walking distance. Really couldn't have asked for better. Disclaimer: this is not resort style. You are essentially in town mixing it up with locals. We really liked that part, but some may want the more isolated resort style ... not sure why lol.

Yelp
This place was truly a hidden gem. We stayed at the Sheraton in Kaanapali along with all of the other tourists for 2 days, then we picked up a friend and finished the last 5 days of our trip at this condo/rental. Let me tell you, it's not much to look at from the outside, but it's just a clever disguise to fool people! Our unit was recently updated and very close to the water...when I say close, I mean walk out the back patio and 15 feet to the ocean--incredible! Our unit was 1 bedroom with nicely appointed appliances and slate floor, and granite counter tops. Our bed was a bit rough, but that depends on each individual unit and what the owner has in it...that's my ONLY gripe about this place. The pool is right on the beach, nicely kept, with lounge chairs around it facing towards the ocean. Incredible. There are two grills on the property to use, and everyone there seems to be very friendly (some folks live there part time or full time). It's location to the beach and friendly office staff just made this so worth it--not to mention the fact that it goes for $100 less a night than a ROOM at one of the resorts at Kaanapali. We definitely plan to stay here next time.

Yelp
Words cannot express enough the amazing experience my family had the first week of July at the Hale Kai. The room was exactly as it was described, furnished beautifully, and the views were ridiculous. We went to sleep every night with the lanai open...lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean and cool ocean breeze. The pool was refreshing and the small private beach allowed for snorkeling without ever leaving the property. We saw turtles EVERYDAY munching on seaweed off of the reef in front. This was my third time to Maui, but first time at the Hale Kai. I can honestly say that this trip was by far the best. I am already trying to figure out how I can book this same week next year! Mahalo!

Yelp
My new husband and I spent four nights of our honeymoon at Hale Kai #213 right after our wedding in September of 2011. We were really glad we skipped the expensive resorts for this lovely condo. Our stay was excellent and we really enjoyed all the amenities of Hale Kai. We both agreed that we would gladly return to the condo again. We arrived to a lovely bouquet of exotic local flowers that the owner, Matt, purchased for us. The unit was very clean and nicely appointed, with nicely updated kitchen and bathroom. The view from the lanai is amazing (photos don't lie). Molokai greets you from across the water, with the sea lapping at the rocks literally right in front of the complex. The pool is excellent and well-maintained: it was cleaned and serviced every morning by 9am opening. The condo is well appointed and tastefully furnished. We didn't use the LCD or Blu-ray player, but the ipod radio came in handy. The spotter's scope a plus. The deck table was great for eating breakfast and dinner. W/D on site were really handy. Manager was very helpful/nice. Grounds are really well maintained, ample parking. The kitchen has everything you need (blender worked great!), and we also grilled a meal on the complex's BBQs. The room has no AC and can get warm during the day, but at night the screened louvered windows will let in a nice breeze. You'll sleep great to the sound of nearby crashing waves. The bed is very comfortable and the bedroom drapes keep it very dark. There is some street noise, but I'm a light sleeper and it didn't bother me (might be louder in season or on weekends). There's an ample storage in the bedroom and bath, the room includes handy beach chairs and an umbrella (be careful, the beach can get really breezy). There is a small, excellent farmer's market M/W/F AM within a block, a must-visit. There's also a good fish market nearby and some basic food options, as well as a market down the road. Drive to Safeway (Lahaina) for groceries, Long's Drugs for alcohol, the fish market, produce at the farmer's market. The condo isn't far from Lahaina (a plus), but we got in ample stargazing at night from the pool. We're told you can snorkel out front, but we skipped it (reef scared us off). We did see some sea turtles right in front one afternoon. Long-term residents are very friendly, but on two occasions visitors to the complex were loud. However, this was rare and didn't last long (the exact opposite of your typical Maui resort experience). Great property, highly recommended!!

Yelp
A great place to stay for two weeks with the family. Kids had access to the beach and the pool, while being able to come in and get a snack from the kitchen. So much more affordable and relaxing than staying at a resort.

Yelp
Stayed in 218 twice already. Everything you need is here and you don't spend a fortune on eating out everyday. Updated kitchen and bathroom. Perfect view and the only place with a pool that's on the water. Great small community. I can't fathom staying in a ten story building where you pay for parking. This was so perfect we rarely left. Valerie in the front office was awesome. We didn't have salt and pepper so I went to front office on the off chance they'd have some and she gave me brand new pair. Mind you this is a condo not a hotel so there is no room service. Maintenance guys keep the pool area really clean. Love love love Hale Kai.

Yelp
Hale Kai Resport Unit 101. The location was beautiful but that is about where the good review ends. The kitchen had been remodled however the contractor left out one upper cabinet so the kitchen was incomplete. When I asked about this the response was, "the appliances are new." The shower leaked all over the floor so the shower head had to be directed to the corner so that water did not leak everywhere. When I asked about this I was told that they knew about it but that it was the previous occupants fault because they kept taking off the stripping at the bottom of the door... (it's just normal wear and tear) and if you know about something it should be fixed right? Not just tell the next people it was the previous people's fault! The rug in the bathroom smelled so bad that it had to be removed by me, all of the rugs were dirty and had to be taken outside! I asked for a new one and I got a towel (a washable bath towel). The bath towels were about 10 years old, the kind of towels you have at home as rags. When I talked to the management about the above, they were completely unwilling to make any adjustments or even apologize!! Ew! Don't stay here!

Yelp
This was our first time on Maui. We really enjoyed the fact that we could walk right out to the beach every morning. We could run back to the condo to get things and then come back out to the chairs by the pool or sit on the private beach. We saw sea turtles feeding every morning and even a few of them came up on the beach. I love the location. We were in one of the lower units which gives you the opportunity to walk right out to the beach. If you were in a second-floor unit you have to go out back and around to the beach. I can't speak for the quality of any of the other units but mine certainly was more than adequate.

Yelp
I recently stayed in a really nice condo in Lahaina. I rented out unit #209 and was thrilled w/ the way it was made so comfortable. I had my kids w/ me and the park next door was a great place to send them to blow off steam between all our excursions. The beautiful pool right on the beach was the best of both worlds, ocean sound and swimming while also enjoying the lounge chairs by the pool. This complex is small enough to feel homey but good value. I saved a ton on food by going down the street to a great fish market, health food market and pizza joint. If you want to stay there go to their website at www.laniiki.com to see the place. Oh, btw, lani iki is "little piece of heaven" in hawaiian.

Yelp
I want to write this review for families with children. We spent 9 nights at the Hale Kai condos and were not very impressed. The decore of unit #202 was dissappointing. I had picked this unit because in the pictures it looked like a throw back to 1960's Hawaiian style. When we arrived we thought it was actually 1960's furniture! During our stay, the roof leaked in two different spots whenever it rained. We could have lived with all of that but what was most dissappointing was the atmosphere. We have two children (6 yr and 9 yr) and this place is definately not geared towards families with younger children. Although there is a park and small pool, the residents were certainly of an older generation and didn't appreciate having children around. Don't get me wrong we wanted quite too, but as all parents know, kids need to have some space and time to play. The playground is more equiped for younger children (2-5 years old) and the beach on the right of the pool was tiny without much space to play especially with high tide. The other side had a larger beach but the visitors on that side of the complex told us that they wanted to hear the ocean not the kids! That left the pool. Each morning and afternoon the year-round residents meet and chat in the pool. Some of them made it clear that the kids were a nuisance. I'm a realistic mom and I can honestly say that the kids were on VERY good behavior without splashing or jumping in the pool. They are rule followers by nature so this was very difficult for us to understand. We felt like we were paying for amenities that we could not comfortably use. We met another family with kids our age and they felt the same. Hale Kai itself was ok, but the atomosphere is better suited for older adults that are looking for a quiter, slower paced resort. On the bright side, it is in a great location with absolutely beautiful views. There were MANY sea turtles right on our beach. The management was excellent and the condo and grounds were clean.

Yelp
Ok place....alittle tired....I've had both hips and both knees replaced, as well as my right shoulder replaced...arthritis throughout my body...we parked in a space marked "handicap preserved", which was the only handicap space in the lot....15 minutes later we went to do laundry and there was a note on our car reprimanding us to not park there....sad...

Yelp
Unit #219 -Great condo in an awesome location! I would highly recommend this unit and we can't wait to go back. Fully equipped with everything you will need and plenty of room. Bedroom downstairs and loft with 2 double beds upstairs. Loft upstairs has its own bathroom. We used the kitchen everyday for breakfast and occasional lunch and dinner. It was amazing eating our meals and watching the sunsets from the balcony everyday. Snorkeling right off the beach is just steps away. Barbecue worked great and the pool was clean and refreshing. Very low key and relaxing. The people who live there are very friendly and helpful. Not noisy at all. Relaxing in the pool was great and swimming in the ocean was fun. Location can't be beat. Lahaina, Kapalua, Kaanapali are within 5-10 minutes away. Great snorkeling on all the beaches are very close. Farmer's market(get the fresh guacamole & fruit) and coffee are across the street and ABC and grocery store are down the street. My 8 yr old daughter loved the pool and seeing the sea turtles right at the beach everyday. Great value in the best location! You won't be disappointed and you will be planning your next trip the day after you leave!
