Hale Kawehi BnB Guesthouse

Good, quiet location. Well equipped and spacious property, with interesting quirky decor and a lovely garden. Host is very thoughtful, generous and considerate. Would highly recommend, and if we're ever back in Hilo we'll be doing our best to stay here again.

We loved our stay at Hale Kawehi! The open air environment, cozy furniture and stained glass were exactly what my husband and I were looking for in a getaway! It was a beautiful walk to downtown Hilo and the ocean. The owner, Colleen (Kawehi) was so warm and made us feel so comfortable. We look forward to our next visit!

We've stayed with Kawehi each of the last 5 years in November. Obviously we think it is a great place. Spacious, well-equipped, and comfortable -- the perfect anti-condo. And it is very well located for exploring all the interesting things to do around Hilo. Thanks to Kawehi -- she is a wonderful host.

My wife and I stayed at Hale Kawehi a few years ago - prior to our moving to Hawai'i. It was this beautiful place - and our continuing relationship with Kawehi that had a lot to do with our moving here - and in particular our choice of where we wanted to live. We are only a block from Hale Kawehi and have recommended her guesthouse to friends when they come to visit us.

I had a wonderful time at Hale Kawehi. I couldn't have a better experience in Hilo. The house is huge, homey, and full of love with Details. Kawehi herself was the best host I've ever met. She is very caring, even baked us Croissants for breakfast and gave us the best tips for our short visit in Big Island. She cleans the house every day and her housecat Mr. Princess was extremely cute by greeting us every night. The house is centrally located, I would stay here everytime when I'll get back to Hilo. Thank you Kawehi, gonna miss you a lot. :)

This is our second stay at this wonderful place in Hilo. We heartily recommend Hale Kawehi as wonderful location to escape the tourist "rush" of Hawaii and set back into an atmosphere that is both relaxing and one which permits sampling off-the-beaten path parts of Hilo. As a hostess, Kawehi is caring and conscientious person who goes out of her way to make sure her guests feel welcome and their needs are attended to. Staying at Hale Kawehi can best be described as having all of the benefits of living in one's personal residence, but with all the amenities of a cozy old Hawaii home.

Aunty Kawehi is the Nicest Lady in Hilo. Had the pleasure to work with her and it was a joy. I highly recommend staying at her beautiful home. It has a great “Hilo Touch” to it and it’s location is Perfect for a Hilo Vacation. She will be a Great Host for you! Mahalo.
