One of the most beautiful places I ever visited! This National Park is filled with amazing views, wildlife and different spots to visit. We chose sunset for our trip make sure to get here with time because can be crowded, now we’re planning to return for sunrise which means you need a prior reservation. Is so convenient to have America the beautiful annual pass to visit this and other national parks in the US.

This place is surreal, with so much of history. We went for sunrise. You need to reach at least an hour before the sunrise to see the colors. It was very cold and usually very breezy so bundle up. There is a small gift shop at the top, the place near the entrance is the perfect place to watch the sunrise. You can do this on your own where you would have to request reservation which is selected by lottery every day. Or you can choose to do this with the tour operators where you don't have to worry about it.

Beautiful spot to watch the sunrise. We arrived a little late and the top lit was already full- which ended up being a blessing in disguise. We parked in the second lot and walked shortly along a trail so that our group wasn’t stuck in a crowd, highly recommend. If you like to watch peaceful sunrises sardined in with tourists then the summit platform is def your vibe. For a more private viewing I highly recommend walking a little bit (on an actual trail as to not damage anything). We even saw some nenes!

I decided to go to the sunset instead of sunrise since my friends missed the flight and could not get here on time for the sunrise. Beautiful scenery along the drive up with winding road. Easy to get a parking spot since it was not as busy as sunrise. The view up top is beautiful and exceptional, we did a small hike before the sunset. Bring a light jacket since the weather up there is cold. On the way down it was very dark, be aware of the cows, they came out of nowhere, and I almost hit one.

The best place to go for sunrise 🌅 and sunsets 🌇. The evenings are crowded, but the mornings are great. Only registered visitors allowed. The views are stunning. Bring warm clothes. The drive is beautiful. It's a must.

I loved the feeling of being in the clouds. Just a heads up, it’s a road full of bends and turns going up. So if you’re going up for the sunrise or leaving from the sunset be careful. It’s a must see when visiting Maui.

Driving through the clouds to an incredible crater... Was an unexpected trip but highly recommended. Keith at the gift shop just before the summit is an absolutely selfless, kind & precious human. Please, meet him & shake his hand.

Just stunning. You don't need to go for sunrise or sunset, while those are magical, I'm sure, the late morning trip we took was fantastic. We used the Shaka guide self guided tour and it was awesome!
