Halfway to Hana is the perfect pit stop on your Road to Hana adventure! The staff is incredibly friendly, and the banana bread is absolutely amazing—moist, buttery, soft, and packed with flavor. It was still warm when we got it, with just the right amount of sweetness. It’s the perfect treat to enjoy while taking in the stunning views along the drive. If you're making the journey, this stop is a must!

Google
Delicious banana bread sundae! Just surprised it didn't come topped with macadamia nuts. FYI - it might have been a cash only spot. There were no restrooms on site, but there were signs sharing the closest public restrooms.

We attempted to go to fullway to Hana but because of our tight schedule we stopped our journey here, Half way to Hana! We saw a long line of people standing in front of the store! We were curious what was all about! Yep, it’s a food store!! Mostly, refreshment type of store and we had a bowl of shredded ice and banana 🍌 bread! My wife’s friend told us to get banana cake, that’s why we did it! Since we were full at that time, we kept it nicely and brought it to my friend’s place in Honolulu but we forgot to eat it there… later they said that it was the best banana bread that they’ve ever had! We were so happy to hear that, however, we have to try it again next time for ourselves for sure! 😁😅😄 Make sure get your banana bread 🍞 Cheers 🥂

Google
The best coffee we found on the Island!! What a beautiful place!! The people were so friendly! We loved it so much when we headed to Hana that we had to stop in the way back!!

Google
Pineapple smoothie was good, not great. The people were also weird about giving us 2 extra empty cups for sharing.

Google
Banana bread was moist and full of banana flavor. Pineapple smoothie was really good and tasted fresh pineapple. Price total $20.85. The bread was still moist and tasted good the next day. However I wish it would taste buttery. I liked this banana bread a bit better than the one we bought up the road in Ke’anae.

Great little stop on the way to Hana. Picked up some Banana Bread here. No restrooms available however but good place to picnic and grab a snack or treat.

Google
Plenty of good history at this half way to Hana. The snack bar offers good food and a huge selection of drinks. Including ice cream. Service was excellent!!!

Yelp
3.5 stars; rounded up. My family and I drove the "Loop" Road to Hana tour (my fellow Shaka Guide users know what I'm talking about) on a Sunday and stopped here to get some banana bread as Aunty Sandy's is closed on Sundays. We ordered the sundae ($9.50) and a loaf of banana bread ($8). Note, there's a $10 min for CC. Sadly, the banana bread was not warm and it didn't wow me. I'd skip on the sundae as it wasn't anything special. Do as the tourists do, but this was nothing special. There are limited parking spots in their lot, and the majority of people, myself included, just parked off the side of the road. There are 3 wooden picnic benches off to the side where you can enjoy the goods.

Yelp
Stand is on The Road to Hana so no need to detour off the Road. This place is fast, friendly & efficient. This is where Aunty Sandy started her humble beginnings as a great banana bread baker. The banana bread is sweeter bc of the Apple Banana they use & no eggs are added so I would presume a longer shelf-life. As I took a slice, the freshness was evident & a great midway treat. For $10 small loaf of banana bread it was convenient.

Yelp
The banana bread is delicious Great place to stop and take a minute while on the road to Hana. The service was nice, they prefer cash, but will take cards too (there is an ATM). The location is wonderful. Just off the road, with a nice view

Yelp
Much needed stop on the road to Hana. There was about 8 people in line in front of us but it moved fast(er since on island time). What we swallowed: *FRESH PINEAPPLE SMOOTHIE: My hubby and I each ordered one and they were refreshing, tasty and delicious. Great that we can enjoy the drink and still proceed on our journey. *MACADAMIA NUT BLONDIE: This had big chunks of mac nut and very tasty. *BANANA NUT BREAD: This was yummy and a great breakfast duo with our pineapple smoothie. Highly recommend a stop here to get some banana bread and for sure the fresh pineapple smoothie!

Yelp
We stopped here yesterday on our day trip to Hana. We saw banana bread which I'd read about. This wasn't Aunty Sandy but half way is half way. We bought a loaf of banana bread. It was cellophane wrapped and still warm. It was $10+ after tax. It came with a small plastic knife so we could slice it. The three of us ate it in the car. We considered it breakfast. It was very moist.
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
They have the best fresh baked banana bread had to stop twice to get it. There ice cream is also fresh and delicious. The girl are very friendly.
google avatar

Jordan L.

Yelp
For us, this was one of the best banana breads we had on the island. They also had other treats there that as soon as we tasted the banana bread we regretted not trying more there. There's a little parking lot to pull off and park. The staff were kind and helpful. A perfect snack for Hana!
google avatar

Alyanna M.

Yelp
The banana bread here tastes great. It is about a dollar more than aunty Sandy's, but still definitely good. They also have a banana bread sundae option, which is ice cream on top of the banana bread. Overall a great stop while on the road to Hana.
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance: the food stand is located in the middle of drive to Hana, plenty parking in the spot, and outdoor dining area Service: the lady is very friendly and refilled the water bottle upon request Food: very simple most popular for its banana bread Banano Bread as a Sundae - **** fresh ice cream and tasty bread, recommend Price: reasonable prices for the location, cash only, about $10~$15 per order
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to stop and have a snack. Great banana bread too. Easy to spot along the way. Wasn't crowded this morning. We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Really happy we stopped here. Very nice, very quick. Do not sleep on the banana bread sundae! It was really tasty. If you're on the road to Hana, I encourage you to stop!
google avatar

Tommy J.

Yelp
Good food with great people working there the place was nice with good parking and nice place to eat at the smoothie was great
google avatar

Jenn C.

Yelp
Banana bread did not disappoint! Be prepared to pay $10 though. Coffee was average. Worth the stop!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
When I got here there was a long line, but it moved reasonably as there were two or three people working the counter. I ordered a loaf of the banana bread (~$9.50). It was a great snack while driving the road to Hana, and easily stowed away in my pack as a convenient hiking snack hiking in Haleakalā National Park.
google avatar

Danny C.

Yelp
The Banana bread was AMAZING. It was warm to the touch and delicious . Turkey sandwich was good and overall is a nice place to stop if you need a snack along your road to Hana.
google avatar

Esther S.

Yelp
No doubt the scenery, FOOD was amazing. But our tour guy stopped at half way to Hana, and my husband use his credit card there. AND fraud charges started to appear at a convenient store.
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
Super nice people at the counter! Very efficient and quick. Shaved ice was good and they recommended a tropical blend. The banana bread was delicious! (Dare I say better than the other banana bread close by...) Great parking area and clean picnic tables to enjoy your snacks on. Overall this was a nice rest stop on the road to Hana.
google avatar

Yelp
Do not sleep on Halfway to Hana's banana bread! My first time up I missed Aunty Sandy's and had to come here instead. It was the best banana bread I have ever had in my entire life, has a very deep burned dark sugar flavour to it and a good crust. I gobbled that mini loaf like it was a cupcake. The next day I came back to try Aunty Sandy's but it was good, but not as great as Halfway to Hana's! I'd buy HoH's all day every day.
google avatar

M. G.

Yelp
This little stop was just great. A little family runs the shop and it's just great. Lots of little snackies for purchase, stickers, shave ice and drinks. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and buy the fresh banana bread, it literally is the best on the island. And always shave ice. Service was friendly.
google avatar

Jerry M.

Yelp
Good place to take a break on the road to Hana. They have shave ice and banana bread. Like most stops on the Hana highway expect parking to be a challenge and a line for service at the stand. I kind of like my banana bread on the sweeter side so I found theirs to be... meh. On the other hand, their shave ice was pretty tasty. Overall, no recommendation... decide for yourself. There are few options anyway on the Hana Highway so you might as well give it a go.
google avatar

Yelp
We dropped by this place while traveling road to Hana. My wife found a YouTube video about this spot and wanted to try the banana bread Sundae. Service was great. The area as a whole has a nice ambience; there were multiple tables to eat. The banana bread sundae was outstanding! Would definitely recommend stopping by here for a treat.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Not only are there plenty of great things to order, but there are vending machines if you are in a hurry (water, coke, etc). Do try the banana bread and the incredible banana bread ice cream sundae. Shaved ice is also awesome. NO bathrooms. Use the park bathrooms along the way instead. When the tour buses roll in there can be quite a line, but usually it's only a few people in front of you.
google avatar

Audrey C.

Yelp
The banana bread here is a MUST if you're doing the Road to Hana! It was about $9 for a small-medium sized loaf (more expensive than I thought it'd be), but the flavor was definitely worth it.
google avatar

Janet F.

Yelp
Still craving their banana bread!! We had originally stopped at the famous, Aunty Sandy's. However, they had sold out for the day so we drove for a little bit over to the Halfway to Hana stopping point. We were pretty hungry at this point so we got BBQ kalua pork sandwiches ($7.50) and a banana bread ($8). We definitely made the mistake of only getting 1 banana bread... We actually didn't even eat it right away, we had put it into the fridge to enjoy the next morning for breakfast and it was hands down one of the best banana breads I've ever tasted. The texture and flavor was perfect in every way. We didn't feel like we missed out on Aunty Sandy's.

Andrea L.

Yelp
Stopping here for banana bread is so worth it. They also had a selection of other sweet and savory options. The parking area was full so that's always a good sign, and seemed like locals were patronizing as well as tourists - Ohana hospitality!
google avatar

Helen K.

Yelp
1 banana bread = almost 11$ with cc fee. Worst loaf that my husband and I tried in our lives. Maybe an off day for HoH. Lady who served us was nice though.
google avatar

Emmi D.

Yelp
Came here cause Aunty Sandy's was closed. 1 mini loaf and a cookie cost $20. Had much better banana bread at coffee shops on the island honestly

Yelp
BEST.BANANA.BREAD.EVER. Location: If the name didn't do it for ya- this little gem is right in the middle of your journey through Hana. This little Maui Haven in tucked between all of the lush and exciting views Hana has to offer- so keep an eye out for you don't miss this little local gem! Food & Snacks: Most well known for their famous banana bread Halfway to Hana features banana bread that is unlike any you may have tried (sorry grandma .) They serve it up nice and warm with your choice of ice cream, although I suggest the macadamia nut, warm Carmel drizzle and whipped cream. They also offer a variety of different snacks & food such as; chips, cookies, hot dogs, burgers, and cold drinks. Tip** Don't drive past this if you're a little hungry on your journey. Stops for food and snacks are far in between on the Road to Hana, and you won't regret stopping and recharging here.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good shaved ice. It was HUGE. Banana bread was also utterly scrumptious and delightful. This is the place to go if you're in need of food and a nice treat on the Road to Hana.
google avatar

Danays M.

Yelp
The Bread was so warm and delicious my only disappointment was that i didn't buy more loafs to go
google avatar

Jonathan V.

Yelp
Our Banana Bread Sundae was very good. We got the macadamia nut vanilla ice cream on top of the bread. Very expensive, but very good.
google avatar

Laura J.

Yelp
Nice little stop on the road to hana! lots of food, snacks, and drink options. It's perfect after a long day of hiking. The veggie sandwich was so refreshing, and the food comes out quick, no wait time. Highly recommend on your road to hana day trip!
google avatar

Cin-Yee S.

Yelp
Since I don't eat bananas, I can not weigh in on the banana bread as a contender among all the others on the road to Hana. Stopped here for a quick turkey sandwich ($5, which came with sprouts - a nice touch), saimin ($4), and a bbq kalua pork sandwich ($7) with my mother as the Ka Haku Smoke Shack is temporarily closed. Quick, friendly service. Please note: there are no restrooms.
google avatar

Neeketa S.

Yelp
We stopped here because multiple blogs raved about the banana bread. They had great banana bread, however it's NOT served warm. They were also known for their shave ice. Their shave ice was a snow cone texture with syrup. Not what we were looking for, so we did not enjoy it. They have a variety of local and streamline snacks. If you're a coconut fan, I recommend picking up a Coconut Chew. PS: The banana bread keeps in the fridge for about a week!
google avatar

Meily A.

Yelp
If you ask me there was absolutely no difference between this banana bread and the competitors down the road. The only difference was this one wasn't warm. I really don't understand what the hype is about. I make better banana bread at home in my humble opinion.
google avatar

Justin T.

Yelp
Went on the Road to Hana tour and stopped here for some banana bread. Lord have mercy, this was the best banana bread I've ever had. Absolutely delicious and so fresh. I believe they make this fresh every day, so do yourself a favor and stop here whenever you're in the Hana area.
google avatar

Tonya W.

Yelp
Love this place and you definitely have to stop here if you do Road to Hana! We bought five loaves of the banana bread. I brought some back as gifts. The burgers were just meh but the BBQ sandwich was delicious! Banana bread is a little pricey at $9 each but sandwiches were reasonably priced.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
To say we were under-prepared for our Road to Hana journey is an understatement. 56 one lane bridges, curves and turns that will make you queasy, locals and tour buses that drive like NASCAR drivers, and limited gas stations were all part of the day even with tons of research prior to our trip. But let me tell you about THE BEST banana bread on the entire island. Holy cow! The loaf I chose was still warm because it was just baked. Moist, banana filled, and addictive, even for my husband who asked me before trying a bite "how much banana bread can you eat?" as if there's a limit for that. He then helped me snarf the entire loaf down in no time. The burger was also freshly made, hot and delicious. The owner was friendly and helpful and had great advice for us. I HIGHLY recommend stopping here on the way(and on the way back).

Yelp
A must stop while traveling to road to Hana. Food:- They offer variety of snacks like banana bread, shave ice , cold drinks , sandwiches & ice-creams. I ordered banana bread and shaved ice. You can add vanilla ice-cream to any shave ice for just $1.5. There banana bread is def one of the best on the island. My 1 year old also enjoyed it - it was that soft and warm. Shaved ice was also very fresh and tasty. Seating :- They have limited seating but I was glad that it was covered to enjoy a nice snack in shade in summers. Parking :- They have proper parking for few cars so you don't have to park randomly on the road like some other food trucks that you see on road to Hana. Only disadvantages :- - No Restroom. - Limited seating - Credit card is accepted only for transactions above $10. But I def recommend stopping here while traveling to road to Hana.
google avatar

Nick W.

Yelp
Banana bread was good but the rest of the food was meh. The burgers and hot dogs were basically like microwave food, the pork sandwich was good but nothing special. There's very little parking, the food is expensive, they only take cash, there's no bathroom, and I overall got a feeling of hostility towards tourists from the place.
google avatar

Sandeep R.

Yelp
This is a little cafe located at exactly half the distance from Hana. If you've not had a chance to pick up "banana bread" at "Aunt Sandy's" shop, I'd highly recommend making a stop here for the banana bread. Besides the banana bread, they also have a menu involving burgers, ice-cream and coffee. There's very little seating for small groups but mostly this is a pick-up spot. As a callout, parking is fairly limited here and you might be better off just waiting in front of the shop and having a co-passenger go and pickup instead of waiting for parking
google avatar

Johanna Mari G.

Yelp
Support the LOCAL business on the island! You can easily miss this stop, so pay close attention. The parking lot is really small but it is worth stopping over for some banana bread or the other snacks that they have including shaved ice, ice cream, and fruit smoothies. Use cash! There are some tables to enjoy your snacks and no restrooms. The banana bread is warm and delicious. Stopping here is one way to help support the local Native Hawaiians!
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Stopped here as part of the 'Road to Hana' recommended stops. The parking situation was a little hectic, with people parking on the streets or right in front of the cashier area. It was hard to exit with people standing in the middle of the parking lot. There are picnic tables on the side with ample seating. I ordered the banana bread, it was good ($8). When I received it, it was still warm. It was moist and the perfect amount of sweetness. The guava shaved ice--not so much ($6). It would have been a nice treat on a hot day but the actual flavor was meh. It also wasn't evenly distributed, so a lot of spots were just plain ice.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Great place to stop for some quick bites to eat. Only complaint I have is that one of the cashier with a black shirt, black hair and brown eyes was annoyed with an attitude for ordering more food for my family by stating "is there anyone else??" I get it that you have many customers in line ordering food and other things but at least don't show that attitude to the customers. The only reason I don't rate 5 stars is more on that reason.
google avatar

Jacie F.

Yelp
I find it so funny that banana bread is a "thing" on the Road to Hana. Since it was our first time, we figured we needed to try it. A bunch of places say they're the "original" place, but I think this place is actually the original. Banana bread was warm (but idk if it's fresh or just out of a warmer lol) and moist! Such a great treat to have on the long drive
google avatar

Alison M.

Yelp
Stopped here during my trip on the road to Hana last week to purchase Banana bread and use the porta potties in the parking lot. The banana bread is $6 a small loaf and the lady behind the counter was none too friendly at all while I made my selection - she neither greeted - nor went out of her way to interact with me at all - she kind'of seemed annoyed at my presence. No biggie - but kind'a in contrast to most of the other places I saw and stopped at that day on my way to Hana. The bread is no better or worse than any other - and is pretty expensive. They have some drinks and snacks on the menu as well as other items so it's a good stop for a group if you are passing through as the midway point. But, based on the reviews I was expecting some mind-blowing banana bread experience and that isn't what I got.
google avatar

Joann A.

Yelp
The banana bread was delicious and their iced coffee was perfect for the long road trip. Parking is limited and the line could be long, but it's worth the stop. Their ice cream selection looked tempting but it was 9am when I came so I decided against it! They don't have public bathrooms at this location but they do have a sign that tells you where the nearest ones are.
google avatar

Yelp
I tried shave ice for the first time on Maui at the Halfway to Hana stand. My goodness, this experience introduced my taste buds to a treat they didn't know was possible! Every spoonful was delightful. I tried 3 different flavors, including the tigers blood. You can't try this without getting the vanilla ice cream on the bottom. Trust me- it is necessary! Shout out to this local stand for supplying one of the best treats on Maui!
