Although our stay was short, it was absolutely memorable. The staff catered to our every need and made us feel truly important and well taken care of. The entire facility was spotless, and our room was in great condition—comfortable and well-maintained. We especially appreciated how family-friendly everything was. The pool was the perfect temperature for little ones, and the hotel clearly puts thought into accommodating guests with children. We also enjoyed the on-site dining options, which were convenient and delicious. To top it all off, the view was spectacular. Overall, it was a warm, clean, and inviting experience from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back!

The hotel is in just about the perfect location! One side is the water and the other side is downtown. You’re walking distance from tons of foodie drinkie places and getting around Halifax is a piece of cake from here! The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff was friendly start to finish! I have to shout out Naomi at the bar and the entire breakfast team for all the great service, good tips, and great care! BTW if you stop in. Here make sure to have their house special chowder and leave room for their carrot cake too. Amazing flavors and everything was so fresh! I hope to be back this way sometime soon and this will be my go to place to stay in Halifax! Thanks to everyone for making this stay special!

I recently stayed at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The location is unbeatable, right on the waterfront, offering stunning views of the harbor and easy access to local attractions. Whether I wanted to explore the historic waterfront boardwalk or enjoy dining at nearby restaurants, everything was just a short walk away. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with modern decor that creates a welcoming atmosphere. My room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring the city. The amenities, including the fitness center and indoor pool, added to my enjoyment. What truly stood out was the exceptional customer service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to ensuring a pleasant stay. They went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, making me feel valued as a guest. I also appreciated the on-site dining options, which offered a delicious breakfast with a variety of choices. Overall, my stay at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel was delightful, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Halifax for its prime location, excellent service, and comfortable accommodations. I can’t wait to return!

Paid $3600 for 2 rooms/3 nights. The word that comes to mind to describe the hotel is stingy. 1. Package included breakfast buffet which was 2 hot options ONLY ie one egg (scrambled usually) and bacon. Absolutely not worth it and was not a buffet by any stretch of the imagination. You could count on your hand how many slices of bread they had for a 5 hour breakfast window. You want more bread? You want an omelette? You’re basically asking for a favour - it will take them 15 min to half an hour, and the kitchen would have supplied 5 slices for the waiting hungry. 2. The hotel gave us coupons to the lobby hotel. The menu was limited and often they were out of things and the service was EXCEPTIONALLY slow. I appreciated that they had a good selection of Atlantic craft beers, but you couldn’t get the can or bottle. 3. Hotel policy dictates that housekeeping will try once only to clean your room. If you want to defer TOO BAD! You’re in the bathroom by chance when they knock… TOO BAD. I could write a lot more negative things but ultimately I will never choose to stay there again. My patronage was not valued and I have experienced much better at this price point. I also wouldn’t recommend it to others - unless your accommodation is free.

Google
We payed extra for a balcony view and got a great view of the street and construction outside… plus side though the room did come with a small refrigerator and the hotel had a pool. The pool was cold and the hot tub was a little too hot. The other nice thing was the Starbucks inside the hotel that opens at 7am.

The General Manager of this property has a lot to be proud of. The staff is excellent: friendly, efficient and welcoming. The location is outstanding, overlooking Halifax Harbor. The property is well maintained, extremely clean. Rooms are comfortable with excellent bedding, good lighting and enough electrical outlets. Fridges in every room is a great plus. Check-in was flawless with the property well explained. The hotel restaurants were so good, it was hard to want to eat elsewhere. Harbourstone's menu is varied with outstanding seafood, fresh produce and Ingrid is a great server, as are many others on the staff. Stone's Throw Patio has excellent views of the harbor and a nice selection of food and drinks. The lounge staff is also extemporary with a special shoutout to Jen who made the mornings great. Housekeeping was omnipresent all day and kept everything clean. As I mentioned at the start, it starts from the top down and this GM has everyone's respect and rightly so. He has an extremely dedicated staff due to his leadership. We will definitely return.

Please let me preface this by saying that Halifax is the city that goes to sleep at 9 PM local time, which is 8 PM Eastern time, while the sun is still up in late-June on a 25-degree day in peak tourist season in the tourist district, when every hotel is sold out for “elbows up” Canadian travel summer. I wanted to enjoy a casual late dinner on the patio facing the ocean, and it was evident that things were winding down in the restaurant / bar. I asked if the kitchen was still open and the server responded with an upbeat, “yes.” This was the last time I received friendly service. The waitstaff was passive-aggressively shutting down the patio restaurant, it also took over half an hour to get my fish sandwich. Thank goodness I wasn’t the last table to leave. My water was not refilled, I was not asked how my food was, and when I settled up the exchange was “there you go” / “here you are” — the terms “please” or “thank you” were only used by me throughout my entire time there. An unsolvable problem may be the location of the hotel itself. The hot new property is the MUIR, which is surrounded by tons of pedestrian traffic, interesting restaurants, retail, public art… essentially a highly-trafficked area that draws people to it. The Marriott is located at the end of the waterfront strip between a closed fish restaurant (Salty’s) and Purdy‘s Plaza, which appears to be occupied by Crown Corporations. When it opened I’m sure was landmark architecture for downtown Halifax, although now it’s 40 years outdated its dominant feature is skywalks connecting two office buildings to an above ground parking deck, with zero amenities or interest at street level. The owner / asset manager of that complex should invest a few bucks to open up the property to the boardwalk, as it indeed falls between the red-sign Marriott and the casino. Yes, further beyond Purdy’s is an unappealing casino that I didn’t bother investigating. Long story short, this Marriott has seen better days too, and is on the edge of the action — I would not recommend spending any time there.

My husband and I travelled 5 provinces during our journey and this was hotel number 3, I really had higher expectations, but sadly did not meet them. Firstly, check in was good except that the front desk I guess missed something when authorizing our room key for parking and we could not enter the parking with the key and had to go back and get that fixed. Unfortunately we had a connecting room with someone else and that door was paper thin, you can hear their conversations perfectly! It was terrible. I heard when they were up in the morning with coughing, blowing of noses etc. I guess I am up now too. The washroom was the biggest disappointment as it was tiny! Considering how big the room was the bathroom was ridiculously small, two people cannot be in there at the same time - can barely even shave your legs in the shower because there is no space! The bed itself was comfortable at least. The location is really all it has going for it, but overall I think I would take my chances on another hotel next time.

Yelp
A beautiful hotel that's on the waterfront close to many cool places. The staff was pleasant and the hospitality was exceptional. We enjoyed our stay.

Yelp
Hotel was fine, tried going into the casino but was denied because I had an American ID‍ in a American hotel also don't recommend coming to Halifax July 20th unless you love colorful festivals

Yelp
I'm in between a 3 or 4 star review for this hotel. It is conveniently located on the harbor with breathtaking views of the town. A close walk to many restaurants and boutique stores. The lobby area is well kept and the restaurant is a great place to grab a bite. The workers are all extremely friendly from the front desk to the restaurant staff. Some things I had problems with is my room had a musty smell. The other thing is the location of the hotel isn't in the safest area with a lot of homeless people just blocks up at the ferry station. One even got inside the building and was being escorted out of the elevator. Which is quite disturbing if you're staying alone at the hotel. And apparently this man sneaks in often which is not okay. Also the doors in the back and the second floor are kept unlocked until about 11pm so anyone can get in. Marriott needs to consider changing those doors to key access only and keeping only the main for everybody to enter so they can see who is coming in and out of the building.

Dana B.

Yelp
They've stopped trying :(. The room was clean and most of the staff were friendly, but it's not really worth it. The rooms were regular, decor outdated, bathroom had grey, patched grout and an anemic shower. The Marriott Harbourfront charges $500/night, plus parking, plus breakfast, but there are two clean, updated, friendly Marriotts a few blocks away for half that price.

Yelp
The fanciest hotel in Halifax, or at least that's what Adam told me when he booked it. We figured since we were only here for one night might as well go all out. The hotel is right at the start of the harbour front boardwalk and is near the casino. You're smack dab in downtown and that's what we needed since we'd be walking to explore everything we could in one day. The check in was quick and they were very accommodating. We arrived way before the 3pm check in time but they upgraded us to a better room that was available at the time we arrived (11am). We also got free wifi. The room was very nice and clean. We had a tv, an ocean view, a mini bad with free water bottles, robes, a king sized bed, and plenty of space to leave our luggage open on the floor. Only thing I didn't like is you could clearly hear people talking and walking in the corridors. Made me self conscious about making too much noise and also annoyed me when I was trying to go to sleep. Wish I had had the time to try out their gym and pool! I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel.

Yelp
Great location on the water about a half hour taxi ride ($65) from the airport. Lots of shops and restaurants/bars within walking distance and you can do the Harbourfront trail walk from just outside the hotel. There is a bar/restaurant and coffee shop on the main floor.....coffee shop has gf and vegan snacks The room was decent as was the spa and indoor pool on the second floor. We were with a conference and the meeting rooms were standard with tables, chairs, screens, etc. The one set of washrooms on the meeting room floor (2nd floor) were quite far from the meeting rooms. I like the outdoor patio for the restaurant and the sofas/tables just outside the doors.

Yelp
Going to have to give it one start based on the front desk service. Every day it was something different. Took more time than it should have checking in, could not understand the young man and his instructions on how to get to the elevators, etc. We got in very late, so we appreciated the resturant being open until midnight. My room was across the hall from the wedding party which filled the three door suite on the sixth floor. So loud, so many people knocking on doors. Went downstairs to get another room, again... It took about 10 minutes. When the concierge room opened on Monday, tried to open with my key - denied. I'm a platinum member. Went to front desk, again... It took forever... And he said I didn't have a method of payment on file.... Really??? After all the trips to the desk? And with as many times as I gave them id and credit card...

Yelp
I am in the unique (I think) position of staying in two large Halifax hotels within a two week period. I'll write the 4 star review of the Marriott Harbour Front Hotel and just mention other as a note to pass on if you have the choice. We came first to this very well positioned hotel at the start of a two week vacation in the Maritimes and spent three great days here. Great location right on the boardwalk with plenty of harbor action right outside the doors and windows. We were lucky enough to be here for the visit of the Tall Ships and the view from our room was amazing. We had one breakfast at the restaurant and liked their coffee bar. Also loved their deck with aderondack chairs. Coming back to start a tour we were down the wharf at the Westin Nova Scotian. It is a bit dated. The rooms are small and it's right next to the train station and cruise port.

Yelp
If you want to be right in the MIDDLE OF THE ACTION in Halifax, choose the Harbourfront Hotel! It's pricey, but plush, with a friendly, helpful staff and large, clean, well appointed rooms. In the lobby you'll find a convenient gourmet coffee shop, a news center and an absolutely first rate dining room. You can swim and work out, too. Best of all, you're on the water front, and an easy walk to all the sights - shops, stores, oyster bars and boat rides. The Maritime Museum is a "MUST" and it's only a couple of blocks away! We came on motorcycles - finding everything at our fingertips was a blast!

Yelp
Nice hotel, staff, and location. The rooms were very nice, and quite. Good coffee place in the lobby. Some construction out front, but not too much of an issue.

Yelp
A very good location as it's right by the harbour so you're near all the little shops during the tourist season. You can go for a quick walk in the morning and enjoy the view of Dartmouth just across the way. You're about 3 min walk from the ferry that goes to Dartmouth - I took a ride $2.50 across and they gave me a transfer so I could enjoy the scenic ride back and forth which I believe was under 15 mins round trip. There's also a small shopping area that sells great coffee at "Two if by Sea." Restaurants are all about a 5-10 min walk depending which direction you're going. The hotel was a nice conference hotel for me but the room was very noisy. The small fridge was noisy when the fan kicked on - it wasn't just my room as my colleague said the same thing. So that was not good as it disrupted my sleep several times each night during my stay. The walls felt thin too as I could hear children talking in the next room the first night. But overall the bed was comfortable. The food that was catered during the conference was good There is an airport shuttle bus that stops by this hotel if you order online for a specific time. It was about $24 and since we were the last stop, the ride was fairly quick to the airport.

Yelp
Well located hotel with comfortable rooms and a friendly staff. Hotel is perhaps not the most up to date Marriott property (e.g. the hotel hallway carpeting which is blinding) but the room is spacious, the shower luxurious and the staff is really nice. I would stay here again. We were here over Canada day and it did not feel crowded. Parking was a breeze as was driving here from the airport (though there is a tool-we had not yet changed our US$ to CAD but we're lucky to scrounge up a looney in the money we brought with us from our last trip to Canada.

Yelp
Great accommodations in the perfect location in Halifax! This Hotel has been remodeled, so the upgrades make it feel new. I would return! Note: Parking is $20 a day.

We go here once a year just to relax and enjoy one another. Room service is great the hot tub is nice and the view is perfect

Yelp
Yeah its a Marriott, so you can use your imagination... However, my GF and I recently did a road trip here and brought the dog and ole boy working the desk was super cool and waived the pet fee! Big points for that, big time... big time. The hotel is in a prime location. You can walk to all kinds of stuff. Maritime museum, shops, bars, restaurants. Right on the water nice view all that. There is a starbucks in the lobby. the ladies there were super-friendly. they liked our dog. i would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Brady C.

Yelp
Just a heads up to travellers. This like any hotel in downtown halifax is decent enough. The service staff here would probably expect tips. The ironic this is that they never tip food delivery people. Think about that level of hypocrisy before you slip them extra cash. SCUMBAGS
google avatar

Adrianne P.

Yelp
This is a first class hotel in a great location. I probably feel this way because of the room we were given, one facing the harbor. It was fun to watch the ferry go back and forth and the other harbor boat traffic. We took a walk on the boardwalk just outside the hotel and enjoyed exploring the area. Our room was roomy with nice decor, small fridge, coffee maker, comfortable bed and pillow.

Yelp
BEWARE**** Many rooms do NOT have safes. Unacceptable in 2017! There is no way to know this when booking. I was told that we could upgrade to a room with a safe. But we had already upgraded to a harbor view room! Felt taken advantage of. It was a hassle using the front desk safe as we had to wait in line to access it. The room was decent at best. Door had large gaps that let in light and hall noise, mini fridge motor was loud, the pillows were lumpy, and peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling. WARNING**** Rooms on the south side face a bar with loud late night music. If you like to sleep with your window open, or are noise sensitive, request a north side room. Earplugs are in all rooms - does that tell you anything? The side entry doors near the coffee bar are supposed to lock at 11:00 pm for security purposes. However, we walked right in well after 11. That needs to be tightened up for the safety of guests. While the location was good, and the staff accommodating, we wouldn't come back at any price. Prince George Hotel just around the corner offers a far better experience and value. Step up your game Marriott.

Yelp
We stayed here for three days from Thursday through Saturday night. This hotel is centrally located in downtown Halifax and is *very* convenient to pretty much everything (walking distance) - e.g., farmers market, MEC, ice cream, restaurants, the Citadel, coffee, banks, etc. - which is one of the reasons we chose to stay here. While the amenities and the setting are definitely 4 stars, the thin walls/doors in our rooms meant that we could hear every little happening out in the halls from our 2nd floor room. Not great, if you're a light sleeper and the noise continues through the night until 3 am! Granted, it was a packed weekend for the marathon, but still...most better classed hotels are able to do a better job of insulating hotel guests against outside noise pollution - esp. the hallways. That's why you usually pay a little extra, right? Otherwise, close proximity to the harbour, helpful & friendly staff, clean sheets, nice warm earthen colors throughout and a recycling bin in the bathroom help save this review. I'd stay here again, but I'd definitely request a higher floor option if possible away from the hubbub and loud action. FYI, there is a walkway connecting this hotel to the casino. A small parking garage below the hotel usually requires one to use the overflow parking near Purdy's Wharf on busy nights as we did on Saturday night. It's a longer walk if you're late for something, so be warned! Also, our room faced the road, so we had no spectacular harbour views, but a loud, somewhat busy road instead from the second floor. (We didn't have much choice due to a busy weekend.) 2 stars for the noise level and 4 stars for everything else = 3 stars. If the noise issue wasn't so bad, this would easily be 4 stars. ***** Forgot to mention that there is free WiFi for guests in the lobby - you have to ask for the code at the registration desk. Otherwise, WiFi is charged in room unless you can pick up the lobby WiFi - we were lucky in that we did being close enough on the second floor. Parking is almost $16 CDN/night.

Yelp
I give five stars to Marriott Harbourfront because I wish I booked this hotel instead of where we stayed. Not that where we stayed was a bad place just not in the right location for a short trip to Halifax. If I ever do travel back to Halifax for a short vacation this is where I'll be making my reservation. There are numerous restaurants near them, the boardwalk is right outside and you can walk to any of the restaurants on the water and the casino as well as the maritime museum which we didn't get to go to on this trip because it meant another cab ride. Where-as if we stayed here there would have been so many more options to us. If this is your first trip to Halifax book this hotel or you'll probably regret it, like I do.

Yelp
Short review (for me). I like this hotel. The staff was super friendly - at all hours of the day and night. The room was comfortable. The valet was fast and easy. If the weather was warmer (does it ever get hot in Halifax?), the location is great to walk around. Even in the cold, there were several great places within walking distance to eat or drink. (Skip the casino, also walking distance from the hotel.)

Yelp
The Marriott Harbourfront is located on Lower Water Street overlooking the Halifax Harbour and a large chunk of the downtown Halifax area. It is one of the nicer places to stay in this city, and as a result it is one of the more expensive places to stay as well. I attended a spring wedding last year and the reception was held at the Marriott. I thought it was pretty efficient for the hotel to offer wedding planning, photography and catering as well as accommodations for the wedding party and guests. If you are willing to dish out the $169 base rate for a double room than you are in for a treat. If you are looking for a room package with breakfast or parking rates you will be paying 10$-70$ more depending on which extra services you require. Hot Hint: For a room overlooking the Harbour it is an extra $30 a night and you must specify for it to be reserved when you are booking your room.

Melinda M.

Yelp
This is a lovely hotel. Not cheap, but worth it. It really is a class act, from the doorman to the front desk staff, everybody is on point and offers great service. Our room was huge and we just got a basic room. We were overlooking that popular hotspot, The Lower Deck, but we couldn't hear a thing. Super comfy beds, nice big bathroom. All I could think was good thing we stayed there for our second night in Halifax and not our first, because the other hotel wasn't nearly this nice. I would stay here again.

Yelp
If ever there was a place to hold your big event, from weddings to the most incredible Savour Food & Wine Show, this is the place to hold it. My most recent example...the Food & WIne Show. Imagine, 700+ people tasting fabulous treats from 35 restaurants and sipping wine, beer and other intoxicating beverages for 2 1/2 hours. Now imagine the plates and glasses dilemma...having clean plates, cultery and glasses on hand at each station, and ample spots to discard the used. Marriott staff was fantastic. You hardly ever noticed their presence, but the show ran like a well oiled machine. And when you did need someone for something, there they were with a smile and a quick resolution to your dilemma. It was magical. Kudos!

Yelp
This is a great hotel. The staff, many wearing kilts, are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and are a decent size. The pub is one of the better hotels bars I've been to, and the hotel is well situated on the harbour, steps from the water, harbour tours, the Maritime Museum, shopping, and the Citadel and other historic sites. The food in the hotel restaurant is tasty and the servers are quite good. The noise level in the hallways and from other rooms is higher than normal for a higher end hotel, and a shower stall would have been nice but space doesn't allow. The wifi is great, though wireless access would have been better. My advice to those who stay at the hotel is to put your Do Not Disturb sign on your door if you want to sleep past 8:30 or want a little privacy in the morning. Housekeeping seems to start early at this hotel.

Yelp
What a delight! We arrived at the hotel in the evening, after a flight from Detroit. Everything was going our way, from catching an inexpensive bus from the airport to the quick ride into town. We checked in and the clerk mentioned that we were staying in one of his favorite rooms. Then he said something about making sure we opened the additional door in our room to take advantage of the suite. My husband travels often and we've stayed in many Marriott properties. He has Platinum status and many points, which is how we reserved our room. When we opened the door, we were certain an error had been made. The living area of our suite was larger than the living area of our house. The suite had a large king size bedroom, two bathrooms, a fireplace, and a view that was amazing. We kept waiting for a knock on the door to correct this situation. It never came. This hotel had all the perks we enjoy, concierge breakfast and appetizers. All was top notch. The location is perfect, on the wharf area, convenient for restaurants and walking. All employees were professional and friendly. Halifax is a delightful place and we definitely plan to return.

Yelp
My review isnt for accomodations, but for conference/event services. I am in the middle of working a mult-day conference at the hotel and the staff have gone above and beyond to accomdate the needs of the event. They are efficient and friendly, and anticipate needs. From a doorman who insisted on calling a taxi for me so I didnt have to dig through my purse for my bb, to banquet staff running around putting finishing touches on luncheons, I was pleasantly surprised each day.

Yelp
Booked here for business and got a special rate that included free wi-if and calls to anywhere in North America. Fantastic! Ordered breakfast in the room every single morning and not once was it late. FYI, if you order a side of bacon, you will be served ~15 slices of bacon! Crazy! Also had fish & chips at the hotel restaurant and it was probably the most delicious fish & chips I've ever had! The room was super clean, very roomy with a great view of the harbour. Bed was so comfortable and I slept like a log - just heaven!

Yelp
Great location; close to everything. Love the view of the harbour. The pedway makes getting around comfortable in bad weather. Secure under ground parking is a bonus. Clean spacious comfortable room. Also a nice touch, help with luggage checking in. So grateful to have been met at the door with a luggage cart. Shane assisted us moving our luggage from the vehicle to the cart, then delivered it to the room while I parked the truck.

Yelp
Great location. You couldn't ask for a more central hotel. Its next to restaurants, pubs and the casino. A full gym, pool and conference facilities make this hotel a prime choice for visitors. Furthermore, if you can get a harbor view, it adds to the entire stay.

Yelp
I attended a conference for 5 days at the Marriott Harbourfront in early October. I greatly enjoyed my stay / overall experience and expect to return soon for a personal trip. The hotel is located right on the waterfront with great views from many of the bedrooms and conference rooms. Be sure to take a stroll down the harbour front (the boardwalk is located right outside the hotel), you can enjoy many of the nearby restaurants / pubs or the casino beside the hotel. It's a perfect location. I also made good use of the Starbucks located in the hotel lobby. My room exceeded my expectations - including a seating / TV / desk room, a large bedroom, jacuzzi in the middle of the bedroom, a large washroom and a fireplace separating the two rooms. My bed was incredibly comfortable, I had a great sleep every night. The rooms are not super modern but extremely clean and well maintained. Service was excellent throughout the hotel. Check-in/out was smooth, room service was quick, staff were all very helpful organizing our conference and running various activities. Kudos to the staff who served our conference breakfast and lunch every day, they were so friendly and did a fantastic job the whole week. The hotel has a nice above average sized gym with lots of equipment and a large pool to enjoy. There was a comfortable lobby bar on the main floor located beside a TV / computer lounge. Highly recommended. I look forward to returning. Easy 4 stars. BK

Yelp
This is a great hotel. I would give them a 5 star rating but there's currently construction going on but still having a great time. I'm currently staying here and it is pretty sweet. There's a decent gym and indoor pool - which is great during the winter. The customer service here is excellent. Everybody is friendly and wants to make your stay great. The breakfast buffet is pretty good with a variety of food and an omelette station. This hotel also has interconnecting tunnels which is great during the winter. Currently its constantly below 0 deg F and the tunnels make getting around so much more bearable. Punchline - great hotel.

Yelp
We would rate the Marriott the bet place to stay in Halifax, only we haven't stayed anther else. And for good reason: this is a terrific hotel, well worth the cost (which is about typical for a downtown city hotel). The rooms are reasonably large and many have delightful views of the busy, lovely harbor. The beds are quite comfortable, the bathrooms attractive, there's decent work space, and everything is spotlessly clean. The hotel's location on the boardwalk means it is very easy to launch yourself on a stroll through the area, packed with restaurants, shops, boating excursions, street vendors and a dazzling array of people from everywhere. The Marriott has a fine restaurant (reviewed separately) and a Starbucks (if that matters to you, but beware it closes rather early in the afternoon). There a gym and a good-sized indoor pool, too. What's not to like? Well, valet parking seems a tad pricey, but honestly the service by valets and everyone else we encountered was appealingly agreeable and ultra-friendly. We felt welcome, we'll return, and we invite others to enjoy it as well.

Yelp
About two weeks ago one of my best friends had her reception here. I was very impressed. The entire hotel and conference center were spotless, the back yard/pool area was beautiful and the staff were extremely friendly and courteous. First the Reception: The reception was held in the ballroom which was beautiful. The wedding 'support staff' for lack of a better term, were fantastic and kept the bride at ease and had the room beautifully decorated. And the food..... oh the food... I was expecting your standard luke warm bland banquet food, but it was some of the most delicious food I've had in any restaurant. Another perk was that the bride and groom were able to bring their own wine which was served with dinner for a small corking fee, which saved them tons compared to what they would have spent buying bottles from any hotel. They had a cash bar which despite the 160 guests always moved very quickly, rarely accumulating a line up. There was also another wedding taking place at the same time which you would never know other than running into the occasional guest in the hall way. We felt the staff were 100% devoted to our wedding the entire night, as did the other wedding party (I know because my sister happened to be at that wedding.) Now for the rooms. We received the 'wedding rate' which was $99/night and very reasonable) The rooms were just the right size, clean, and very comfortable. I was impressed that on the beds there was a selection of soft and firm pillows, a small thing, but most hotels just have one type of pillow and you have to deal. I also liked that the sink was outside the washroom, so I could do my hair and make-up as my boyfriend showered. My only criticism was that the maid service came knocking fairly early (about 9am), even though we were going to be checking out in three hours. To some that is a nice courtesy I guess, but I thought it would be more economical to wait rather than clean the room twice, and I guess we did forget to put the do not disturb sign on the door. All in all I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend both the hotel for anyone who wanted to stay close to downtown Halifax, and the conference center for anyone who was planning a wedding.

Yelp
A couple weeks ago, husband and I had an unexpected layover in Nova Scotia due to weather. Scotty at the front desk was kind and very welcoming, and had plenty of information about the hotel and the city for us! Our room was spotless. Some of the hotel flooring is dated but the rooms themselves are modern and very comfortable!. Our lovely server in the restaurant introduced herself as Erin. We were prepared to have a quick bite and retire for the night, but she convinced us to try a variety of Nova Scotia seafood - and it did not disappoint!! We tried the scallops and fish chowder to start, both fantastic, and I had the house seafood pasta while my husband had a salmon pumpkin dish. As she said, "the chef really knows seafood!". Everything was fresh and delicious. We prefer red wine, but we did not know what to pick to pair with seafood. The server was extremely knowledgeable about their wine offerings and so we splurged on a beautiful bottle of an Italian red at her suggestion. After we paid she came over with chamomile tea on the house to help us sleep - very kind! It is true what they say about East Coast hospitality, we look forward to coming to Halifax for a real visit! This hotel is on the gorgeous waterfront and has a lot to offer - we received personal and kind service,

Yelp
My husband and I scored a good deal for this hotel on a bidding website; well, we were 'assigned' this hotel based on location and hotel class. Upon arrival, the front desk staff members were quite friendly and later on they were able to accommodate some of our specific requests to temporarily borrow office supplies (needed to assemble wedding party favours in our room). As for the room, it was quite comfortable and very well-maintained, although design or size-wise I've stayed in nicer Marriott hotels elsewhere. They biggest thumbs down, as my husband mentioned, is the noise level. You will most definitely be woken up in the middle of a weekend night at 2 or 4 or 6 in the morning, when the partiers come back to their rooms and speak loudly and slam doors. The walls are so thin that you can hear them speaking in their rooms to each other. We were unpleasantly surprised at how well the sound travelled between rooms and all along the floor. Had the hotel built more noiseproof walls and doors, this would have been a more glowing review, but with all the sleep disruption I cannot bring myself to give this hotel a higher rating.

Yelp
If staying at the Marriott or in downtown Halifax area you don't have to go far to eat well. The Harbourstone Sea Grill at Marriott has great food, professional service, non rushed atmosphere. Cabbage rolls, fish tacos, nachos, chowder, all High recommend.

Yelp
While I was here, they were doing a lot of remodeling. Although they were very helpful during the time, they remodeling remained an inconvenience for the specific hours I worked while in Halifax. The rooms are amazing, and the location is wonderful. I would stay here again, just hopefully no remodeling next time.

Yelp
Have stayed and worked here. There is no other hotel in this city that can offer you a view like this hotel. Amazing staff that are trained to put the guests first, they offer so many great things from dining, workout facilities, business floors and needs.
