Scandinavia’s Wine Scene Is Growing, Partially Due to Climate Change

"Håkan Hansson’s Hällåkra Vineyard, located 30 minutes from the southern Sweden city of Malmö, distributes wines to capital cities throughout Europe. Hansson planted vines in 2003 and reached a turning point just five years later. “We had two winemakers from Bordeaux who visited after reading about us. I was nervous, but when they tasted our wines, they said: ‘Wow, what acidity you have in the wine, we are losing that in France and Spain. Take care of that.’ He meant we should [embrace] it. And I thought–that–that’s the point of our wines.”"

Just the loveliest place to spend some quality time with family and friends, especially when the sun is out shining. We walked among their vineyards. We sat at their beautiful garden. We found their ”organic wine without yeast” and ”tapas”quite delicious and thought prices were reasonable. Last but not least, they are pet friendly. 100% worth a visit!

Fantastic experience in an amazing garden with beautiful flowers and authentic nordic decoration. It was exciting to try local Swedish wine and we were positively surprised by the rich taste and freshness in the wines we tried. The service was personal and the staff were great at explaining the story of the farm, the local ingredients in the dish as the story of the grapes and wine. So kind people! Overall, absolutely a place to come back to!

This is truly a wonderful place! There is something with this place, the hosts are amazing! Both the previous owners who are still in charge of the winery but also the new comers who are running the restaurant! Excellent food- innovative, sustainable and indeed beautiful for the eye! You are stepping into a home where all of us, no matter who you are, feel welcome. It is the countryside but at the same time has the spirit of globally and international! Go there- and become a part of the family at Hällåkra!

We tried calling two days in advance and on the day we wanted to visit the vinotek. Nobody picked up the phone. We stopped at the vineyard around lunch time. We were told the place is fully booked even though there were empty tables and that there wouldn't be available tables from 1pm till 4pm. BOOK IN ADVANCE

Very good food and the experience is very enjoyable. The wine was not the best I have tasted but I would recommend this.
