Since it was raining today, we decided to visit this museum. It’s ok, rather interesting, but at 11 euros per person with the Guest Card, it’s not expensive but not super affordable neither. The main problem are the stairs. Not at all wheelchair accessible and if you have knee problems, for example (my mother’s case), it won’t be a comfortable visit to you. Also, the lady in the reception doesn’t speak English and American Express cards are not accepted. But I still think it’s worth a go.

This museum is a gem! While hundreds, if not thousands, of tourists were taking pictures out at the lake, I went into this amazing museum. The woman that works there spoke beautiful English, and was kind and welcoming. She answered all my questions. Because I was there with a tour, I could only stay an hour. I wish I could’ve stayed two or three hours. This museum was a top-notch museum and hardly gets any attention. When you go to Hallstatt, I would recommend spending at least an hour there.

Amazingly beautiful village …. Situated around the Hallstatt Lake on the foothill of alps this magical village will take your breath away. I felt like walking in a Harry Potter set … cobbled street adorn with cute shops n cafés … you can do boat ride to see the village from water .. must visit if you in Austria ✨✨

Lot of construction, very limited parking. Not suitable for wheelchairs. Salzburg salt mine is much better.

MUSEUM HALLSTATT Hallstatt, Austria Museum Hallstatt, also known as Welterbemuseum Hallstatt, is a museum in Hallstatt, Upper Austria that opened in 1884. It has a large collection of artifacts, exhibits, and interactive displays from the local salt mines and Iron Age cemeteries, which have made Hallstatt the type site for the Hallstatt culture. The museum also has videos in multiple languages and multilingual binders throughout the museum. Some say it's one of the most incredible places they've ever been.

Really interesting museum. I appreciated the intro video that plays at the beginning, it helped me understand the overall timeline of Hallstatt. The multilingual (I think there was maybe 7 different languages) binders throughout the museum were very helpful. I was able to learn about the area as well as its history.
