Hame Hotel, Isle of Skye, Scotland - Explore & Book

"We’ve had our eyes on Skye for years, fuelled by a hunger to experience its epic landscapes. The island’s topography is extraordinary: a circus of jagged mountain peaks, jostling lochs and mythical fairy pools. But finding a chic hotel or B&B on the island is not easy – we've been looking for years. And then we hit the jackpot: a place which is high on style and service, and which for some reason remains under the radar of most visitors.Tucked away near Dunvegan in the island’s northwest corner, sweet little Hame gazes out over Loch Vatten. The landscape here is ruggedly beautiful: a stark scene of open plains giving way to sapphire-blue water and the Cuillin Mountains beyond. In keeping with the tranquillity, the hotel seamlessly fuses calming Nordic design with home comforts. The bedrooms are simple but smart, featuring muted grey tones and woollen throws. If you're coming as a group, you can book the whole of the main building (4-5 bedrooms), and have the place to yourselves – with or without staff to cater and plan activities. In its B&B guise, breakfast is all part of the experience, with hearty Scottish fare on offer in a light-filled, glass-walled dining room overlooking the loch. You are encouraged to treat the place like your home; manager Ada offer local info as well as a help-yourself supply of local Scotch. We’ll take ours in an armchair by that roaring log fire, please! Highs A very peaceful and secluded setting with panoramic views over Loch Vatten, the Cuillins and MacLeod’s Tables Stylish Scandi design creating a calming ambience to match the tranquil surroundingsWarm and friendly service from the staffHomecooked Scottish breakfast served in a lovely dining room with wild and watery viewsVery dog-friendly Lows It’s remote and not the easiest to find; you’ll certainly need a car and a good map (mobile signal is patchy on Skye)You’re a drive away from most shops and restaurantsWe’ve heard a few rumblings about hallway noise in some rooms, but you won't hear a peep from outside" - Handpicked by our hotel experts

We only stayed here for one night but it was a very good experience and it would’ve been nice to have had some more time to relax and unwind. Great ambience, beautiful room and a delicious breakfast. Staff were very friendly and efficient too, and I got the impression they were genuinely interested in providing the best experience possible, as opposed to just working there.

I absolutely loved this place! It was my favorite Scotland experience! The bed was so comfortable I got my best sleep of the week, the food was fabulous, and the honesty bar was well stocked and gave you a wonderful living room to enjoy a cocktail with your group in a comfortable loving room as if you were entertaining at home. It was a perfect getaway and i would definitely include it in any visit to Scotland!! The hosts were the best!!! Loved it!!!

Communication via email was quick and clear prior to arrival. Made reservation for dinner which was great. Breakfast was a delight. The honesty bar was awesome as well with good selection of fizzy drinks and local liquor, such as gin and whiskey.

Good atmosphere on entering the hotel, Reception said we were the last guests to check in that evening (around 8pm) - it closed 3 minutes later and no staff around as the bar area is an honesty box. The room was clean and comfortable but has a ragged piece of net curtain over the ground floor window and no central lampshade, Breakfast menu had no egg options on it - there are plenty of chickens in Skye so why no eggs on the breakfast menu. Average hotel - better quality and value elsewhere on Skye.

My sister-in-law and I shared a beautiful room at the Hame Hotel on Isle of Skye. Host Ada was wonderful and chef’s foods were the best we had in Scotland. Very clean, quiet and aromatic. Nice road to take a walk as well. Lovely experience.
