Came here for dinner. It was recommended going to the bar instead of Bistro by the locals. But we went to the bistro as we booked in advance. Wasn't disappointed with the price and the food. We had the seafood chowder and tandoori chicken, which were both surprisingly good. The chowder was creamy and had tasted like it actually had fresh calamari and prawns rather than frozen ones. Went well with the garlic bread. Tandoori chicken thigh with the mashed potato with truffle oil was well cooked and juicy. Had 2 pieces of thigh; it was a good portion, but wasn't massive. We finished by sharing the sticky date pudding with ice cream. Was a decent price for both of us $96. Next time, I will try the bar and the parmi as the other reviews say it's a generous size and portion.

5/5 Stars - The Best Pie I've Ever Had, Seriously. We stumbled upon Hamer's Bar and Bistro on our way back to Hobart and I'm so glad we did. I was immediately impressed by the menu; everything sounded so distinctive and special. After a bit of a hard decision, I went with the Shepherd's Pie, which is advertised as an 80-year-old recipe. It was absolutely fantastic—the best pie I've ever had in my life. It wasn't just food; it was a different level of comfort that literally healed my soul after a long journey. This pie is so good, I would definitely make the trip to Hamilton just to have it again. This place is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates truly special food.

Busy, popular and good quality spot for dinner. You need to book! There’s a set number of tables so get in quick. Very good quality food and an impressive drinks list. We had excellent service from our waiter - he made a great difference to our experience. We had the fish of the day (Barramundi) and The Seafood Chowder - both very refined and tasty. They do love the Cajun spice applied to most things - not a problem. Do book ahead and enjoy.

Hamer’s was sufficient. The food was average, the pork ribs $37 were fine but not worth the price tag. The chips that accompany the ribs could be cooked for longer. I wouldn’t order the ravioli $30 again.

We ate at the pub and the bistro recently and the food was very good. Got our meals fast and was not a bad price for the location. Parmi at the pub was huge, ribs at the bistro were good. Sad to see the pub so empty on a weekend but it is the middle of winter, I imagine it to be bustling in summer. We booked a month in advance for the bistro over the phone to make sure we got a table.

Went there for breakfast. Very good service and friendly, helpful staff. The food was great, and also satisfied with the portions. Since we went there during the off-season, there weren't many people around, nevertheless the atmosphere looked very cozy.

From my perspective, if a restaurant charges $60 per person, the food should at least be reheated to a reasonable temperature. I understand it might be pre-prepared and reheated during the off-peak season, but serving only lukewarm food in freezing weather is really not acceptable.

Lovely pub & bistro on the water. Not a big menu but good food & service
