We spent 3 nights here as part of a package via Luxury Escapes and were very impressed. The property is very private and has just 6 tented suites, so a maximum of 12 guests. The rooms were great, very comfortable beds, cosy outdoor deck area and I loved the outdoor shower. 3 meals a day plus morning coffee and afternoon tea included, very high quality food, we enjoyed every meal. 2 game drives per day in the morning and evening with very knowledgeable guides. We were very lucky and saw the big 5 plus many others during our stay. Kruger and Hamiltons exceeded all of my expectations, I would definitely recommend.

I stayed at Hamilton’s Tented Camp for three nights in July as a couple, and it was hands down one of the most incredible travel experiences we’ve ever had. If you’re looking for the ultimate authentic-but-luxurious South African safari experience, this is it. From the moment we arrived, the staff made sure every detail was taken care of. Warm, attentive service managed by Thomas that went above and beyond without ever feeling forced. The tented suites are absolutely stunning—spotless, stylish, and incredibly comfortable. It’s all the adventure of being in the wild, without sacrificing a bit of luxury. The camp offers two safari drives each day (morning and evening, about 3 to 3.5 hours each), and you’re right in the heart of Kruger National Park the moment you leave camp. No long drives from the park gates—it’s all happening right there. You genuinely feel like you have the park to yourself, and the early morning drives gave us the first chance to spot the Big 5 before the crowds even entered the park. Huge shout out to Hali the safari guide who is a true subject matter expert in tracking, all things bush and just fun guy to hang out with. The food deserves a special mention. We came in with realistic expectations, but the chefs at Hamilton’s blew us away. This isn’t “camp gourmet” this is actual fine dining, three times a day, with carefully thought-out menus and multiple options at every meal. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. If you have the budget, staying here is miles ahead of the typical lodge experience, whether it’s outside the park or even one of the other lodges onsite. Hamilton’s delivers the kind of once-in-a-lifetime luxury safari that you dream about—and then actually exceeds those dreams.

Breathtaking, magical and unforgettable. We stayed 3 nights and wished we could stay forever! Our rooms with private plunge pools looked out on elephants, giraffes, hippos, Cape Buffalo, crocs and lions we. We were lucky enough to see the big 5 (yes a leopard as well) in the first 2 days!! Nick our safari guide was a legend! 5 star service all the way staff were friendly and always attentive! The food was AMAZING we are coming back!!

We stayed at Hamilton Tented Camp in the middle of March 2025 to celebrate my birthday. The accommodation in tent #1 was superb and luxurious with views to the river and dam. |The management and staff did an excellent job and prepared a lovely cake and song/dance for my birthday. |The Safari drives with Hali were very informative. We did not see much game, but we learned a lot about the bush, the trees and the birds. The game around the concession is plentiful, but you must be lucky on the day out to see it. |All together an excellent and memorable stay. |P

Hamiltons Tented Camp delivers a spectacular 5-star experience from start to finish! Our family of eight adults booked four of the six luxury tents and enjoyed a truly special, private safari experience with our own guide and dining setup. Visiting in lush February was perfect—wildlife was everywhere! Across six game drives in three days, we counted an astonishing 1,800 animals, including elephants, giraffes, lions, rhinos, and so many newborns. The accommodations are straight out of a movie—exactly as beautiful as shown in the photos. The food was outstanding, and the service was impeccable. Hamiltons took care of every detail, even arranging our airport transfers. While this is a premium experience, it is worth every penny. In just three days, we made memories to last a lifetime. Highly recommend!

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. All the staff were so very pleasant and helpful. The safaris were very well organised and we managed to see The Big 5. What a holiday to remember. After returning from a safari, the staff were at the front of the lodge to welcome us with a hot or cold drink.

What an amazing experience. The “tent” accommodation was even better than we had expected. So luxurious and we loved the old fashioned decor throughout the camp. The deck of our tent next to the river bed was a beautiful spot to rest and relax. The plunge pool was the perfect spot to cool off. A massage out on the deck was so relaxing. Being able to shower while watching elephants drinking and washing themselves was an incredible experience and is definitely up there with the highlights of my life! It was my birthday while we were there and the staff made me a cake and all sang happy birthday which topped off an amazing birthday! The daily safaris were fantastic and Hali was a brilliant guide and went above and beyond to make sure we found a rhino - even if it did end up being after dark 😂 We still saw it! The knowledge he shared was wonderful and we saw so many animals and birds. His excitement when we found a leopard (which we did twice) was almost as exciting as seeing the leopard! All of the staff were so attentive and welcoming and we really felt at home for the 3 nights we were there. A special thank you to Thomas, Mophert, Canwell, Thizer, Jan, Thandi and Tony. Also to the staff in the kitchen who prepared us so many delicious meals. Definitely a luxury experience and we are so glad we chose Hamilton’s for our first safari experience. We will be recommending you to our family and friends.

A very good experience at Hamiltons! The location and setting is fantastic and the set up of the camp and room decor is amazing- whisking you back to different time! Our ranger Hali was incredible, imparting his knowledge and being an all round legend as we got lucky seeing the wildlife we wanted to see! This is what we came for and it did not disappoint. If you can get in Hali’s vehicle do it!! We did think they could have started the morning drives earlier. 6am felt too late with the sun already up. It also meant less time to really enjoy the accommodation as meal times roll around very quickly and they love feeding you 😆 If they tweaked a few little things Hamiltons could be a truly 5 star place. They charge 5 star prices but were not quite there when it came to food and beverage side of things. There’s really no excuse for sending out stone cold food. Some of The vegetarian options my wife had were bland and uninspiring… i’ll caveat that by saying the meat dishes i had were very good!! It would have been really helpful to have a drinks list so you could see what they did have or could offer rather than just guessing and asking. The staff were lovely and did everything with a smile. A couple of instances of trying to get someone’s attention to get a drink but otherwise they were great! At the end of the day you are here for safari in the bush not a fine dining experience. And Hamiltons delivers all you could ask for on that front. They also added some nice touches to help us celebrate our honeymoon which was appreciated and very good of them. Would we go back? If there was some incredible deal on, then yes. Otherwise for the money you are spending we’d probably give somewhere else a go.
