Top hawker stalls in Singapore serving affordable gourmet food - SilverKris

"A burger-focused stall tucked in a quieter market that nonetheless draws long queues—waits can reach up to an hour and a half at peak times—because its handmade patties and gourmet execution rival popular specialty burger chains. The signature juicy beef cheeseburger (made from top-quality fresh beef) with well-seasoned fries is a crowd favourite, and there are equally tempting fried chicken and fish burger options." - Rachel Eva Lim

Bun is nice and crispy but meat patty is slightly disappointing as it is on the dryer side. Not sure if it’s because of the hype that I’m over expecting too much. 2023 update: beef burger is better now, juicer than before. Fries are nicely cooked, crispy on the outside and potatoey on the inside. Onion rings taste exactly like BK one.

Came at about 4pm and ordered a classic beef cheeseburger. It took only 10 mins for the buzzer to ring. I started off with the fries and was amazed by it! It was very thick, the exterior was crispy and the inside was soft and dense. The cheeseburger was good too! Bun was fluffy and soft, beef patty was really juicy and doesn’t feel rubbery. Other than the cheese, I also saw some pickles and onions which give a nice crunchy texture when I eat. Yum! Really enjoyed the cheeseburger and fries, and definitely will be back to try other burgers!

The chicken burger was sold out so had the double cheeseburger and added bacon, fries and chicken cutlets. All for $19.50. The double cheeseburger is $12.50 and it’s really good! the patty was tasty and juicy, could do with more cheese but still v nice, bun is not dry. The fries (although serving is not big) and chicken were all really good too, these guys really know how to make a great tasting meal! They should expand to more places!

Came here on a weekday. Ordered double cheese burger at 1.30pm and waited for 1 hour. The fries are yummies, different from other western eateries. The burger is so juicy and fragrance with onion topping. Believe the beef is of certain premium quality. If only you have time to wait, good to try at least once!!

Visit #1: I will adjust star rating after I tried the burgers. Putting this review as I visited the shop but it had this notice saying that closed temporarily until further notice. So just a shout out to those who are intending to go to commonwealth market to check this out. Visit #2: finally managed to try Hammee’s and not after a wait for more than an hour. So many people ordering takeaways and delivery. Perhaps had overly high expectations. Was a tad disappointed that the beef patty was not as good as expected. But generally Hammee’s beef burger was juicy and delicious. Much better than similar burger hawker concept stalls I have tried. Also tried the chicken burger and that one was also good and not fatty. Meat was firm and not oily. The side of fries were very good and I would potentially order just the fries next time! Oh and I wanna try the fish burger one day.

When I found out that Hammee’s were selling their burgers again, I made sure to go back immediately and boy was I glad I made the trip. Hammee’s never fail to disappoint me. I bought the 3 different burgers and the chicken burger was hands down the best one out of the 3. I would say they are like an upgraded burger compared to McDonald’s and at the same price point, this is really worth the trip. I would totally come again! Just be mindful of the queue. I went on a Saturday at around 1pm and was pleasantly surprised to not have to wait long for my food to be ready

Classic beef cheeseburger (Single/Double)- I would say its good burger for its price ; juicy beef patties and tangy sauce thats cuts through the fats and balances very well with the cheese burger! i would also recommend you to go for the tater tots (similar to mini hashbrowns) rather than their fries which are very normal. however, the butter doesnt penetrate into the buns well enough. although the buns are pillowy, they do not have much chewiness to it, (as compared to shake shack which does their buns very well), which in my opinion is essential in burger buns. the beef patties are seemingly also not marinated enough as the flavours are abit lacking though well salted. overall, everything still assembles nicely together except for the few areas for improvement. my bf who is an old patron of the stall pointed that the standard has dropped from his previous visit though (but this could be due to the change of beef supplier?) Good job from Hammees still and i would say they have set a high benchmark for hawker stalls :)

It's a Hawker burger experience. Waiting time for me was 20min to 30min. Was prepared to wait, and the lady who took our orders informed us 3 times before confirming the order. Watch Wah Banana! Wah to buy and notice it's near us, west side! Looks tasty. Yes, pricey side, but not the VERY pricey side since prices are inflated already. We ordered a chicken burger + 1 side, double fish +1 side and a paid full price sides, was told burger+side the side portion is not as much as full price side. Overall, it was a good experience. The food was tasty. Given the same amount, maybe at mcdonald can order 3 burger meals, but eating here, you get the freshness, taste wise, it is better than fast food burgers and less guilty or saltiness. So I feel if you are nearby here, it's a good buy. Shout out to Wah Banana! Great recommendation, and love your Wah to Buy! Food was too food.. I forgot to take picture so here's a picture of nearly finished food.

Yelp
Small little burger shop tucked away in the corner of a relatively quiet food center, owned and operated by a young local couple. They only serve 2 items: beef burger + chicken burger (uh.. sandwich?). I've never had their chicken burger, but this is definitely my go-to when I'm craving for a good cheeseburger. Soft, fluffy, well-buttered buns, juicy minced beef with their self-concocted sauce that packs a punch. Quality is always consistent and ensures 101% satisfaction in every bite. Prices are super reasonable even though the burgers are comparable to (or even better than) proper restaurants! $6 for a single cheeseburger, $8 for a double. All burgers come with fresh fries on the side. Don't be surprised if you need to wait, there's usually a queue even before they open at 11AM. Each burger is freshly made to order, which may take awhile, but it's worth it. They take pride in assembling each burger to look as perfect as this emoji: . You know those sad photos you see of expectations VS reality? You won't be disappointed here! The food center is relatively easy to get to via public transportation, a short walk from Commonwealth MRT. Alternatively, plenty of parking on site (and even free on Sundays!) Another perk of visiting this place? You're supporting a small local business in achieving their goals :) P/s: Check out their IG page @hammees_sg to confirm opening hours, they'll typically post updates if they need to close for any reason.
