A fantastic little gem of a shop. I appreciated that the space was carefully curated and made shopping super easy. The variety of work and products available is wonderful -- and the price range is varied enough that you can spend a little or a lot and get a nice gift. The four-legged shop manager followed me around and kept up with quality control. ;) I recommend this spot for high-quality paper goods.

This is a wonderful company do to business with. Usually I put an order in every quarter or so, buying for those specific occasions and Hammerpress never fails in having original, thoughtful and fun cards to give out. From birthdays to holidays and just because, Hammerpress has wonderful cards that I cannot highly recommend more. Excellent business and wonderful people.

Hammerpress makes single-panel thank you cards that I really like having on hand. Everything about the look and feel of their printed products is appealing. Vibrant colors, clever designs, substantial paper, and thoughtful details make it feel really good to send people cards. Considering how much nicer their products are than the average card from your local drug store, Hammerpress cards are not expensive. Also, the store is gorgeous inside.

Google
LIARS and a WASTE OF TIME. I talked to one of the receptionists at Hammerpress in the shop as soon as you walk in to the left. I wanted some custom items and so we made an appt for me and one of the makers to meet. The female told me someone at Hammerpress would call me but they never did. I called back countless times to ask about my appt. I'm convinced she never took it up with her boss but instead threw my appointment away.

Their newish space is much nicer than the old one. Good place for unique cards, paper and other assorted items.

Awesome work that gives you the real feel of a valuable card as opposed to the commercialized options at the drugstore

Yelp
Everyone has that friend who goes crazy in a stationary store, and I am that friend. The next time you need a gift for that friend, go to Hammerpress! Hammerpress has a super unique collection of paper goods, candles, soaps, and cards, which makes it a great location for a niche gift. They have beautiful cards for all occasions. There are tons of fancy pens and hand-painted, recycled-paper journals. I droll over all of their carefully curated candles and unique perfumes. This is not a cheap place to shop for a gift, but it's worth it! The recipient of the gift will feel so special and artsy. There is usually plenty of parking on the streets of the West Bottoms, unless it's a First Friday weekend - then expect to have to stroll a far distance, but Hammerpress is located conveniently close to some of my favorite antique shops.

Yelp
I've been a fan of Hammerpress since they opened their first print shop in the Crossroads, way back in the early aughts. As a college student I'd look forward to an excuse to trek to KCMO from Lawrence to shop here and pick up some local goodies. They've been doing this so long, you could probably even make an argument that they were kind of the original shop local spot here in the city. Flash forward and Hammerpress has migrated from their OG location to further down SW BLVD, and now to this new spot in the heart of the West Bottoms. It had been a while since I visited so I wasn't sure where they had moved to, but it seems fitting that they'd end up in the West Bottoms as many of the artists that once had studios in the Crossroads have migrated that direction as well, and it seems true to both their craft as printers, and their vibe as artists to be in yet another cool, up and coming, hip neighborhood. All of this being said, this new spot is by far their coolest. From the arched entryway, to the bright interior, you're going to find everything you've come to expect from Hammerpress. Beautiful art prints? Check! Locally made greeting cards? Check! other stationary and art goodies? check and check! Next time you need a card go check them out - you won't regret it!

Yelp
Wow! This isn't just a great shop if you live in the area, I'd be so bold to say this should be a low-key destination for folks visiting from out of town. Hammerpress, I believe, started as a print shop on Southwest Boulevard, and now has a bigger space in the West Bottoms (y'know, the part of town with the haunted houses, where the Comets used to play). The shop is fantastic. Somehow I escaped without spending an entire mortgage payment. The've got writing utensils, markers, notebooks, paper, cards, and anything you could possibly want in your home office...candles, planters, golden tape dispensers. I got a small brass ruler and a palette little I was delighted to see notebooks from my own favorite neighborhood stationery store ("Shorthand" in Los Angeles), and I believe I've seen Hammerpress cards at Shorthand. Check it out, not just for the stuff you can buy, but for the space and the neighborhood. A sturdy brick building with old wooden floors that was probably home to some riverboat warehouse or stockyard. Inside, they've got their presses and metal typesetting bits, and it has a little printery smell. Outside, is such a cool area. Don't expect a dense neighborhood, but more of an old-timey industrial area with gravel parking lots and hidden gems all around.

Yelp
Such a cute shop! And the cards are just perfect, would recommend coming for any holiday or birthday card needed!

Yelp
These are some sweet new digs. Hammerpress has moved again, this time to a super cool spot in the West Bottoms. Parking was a little bit of an issue at the old space. Not so much here. Parking is available out front, in a lot down the block and also on the street within the neighborhood. It's convenient and also a massive improvement from the old space, where at times it felt like you were risking your life trying to cross the street. Once you're inside, there's plenty of space, so you can take your time browsing through Hammerpress' collection of cards, prints, posters and more. If you're an old fashioned soul, who enjoys the old written ways, they also offer note pads, journals and specialty pens and pencils.

Yelp
This is the most unique beautiful and fun collection of hand designed printed items (custom too!) I've seen in any city! And the sound of the old presses running is like a step back in time! The shop is filled with unusual non- printed handmade items perfect for gift-giving too! This place alone is worth making the West bottoms a destination! But while you're there grab a great coffee, hear some music and stroll ....just don't miss Hammerpress. It's a place like no other!

Yelp
Love Hammerpress! My most recent purchase was the limited-edition Super Bowl LVIII poster. Or so I thought. 3 days later I received an email from Debbie at Hammerpress to confirm I wanted last years poster and not the new one. The fact that she took the time to double check shows the quality of their service and attention to detail. Luckily she was able to fix my order and ship out the new poster. Most companies would have just shipped what was ordered without a second thought. Thanks Debbie for looking out for me!

Yelp
Impeccable vibes and lots of cool products for personal use or gifts that I don't think you can find elsewhere in the city

Claudia S.

Yelp
Hammerpress has a variety of artsy stationery and gifts. The selection varies. The store is in a cute retro building that alone is cool enough to get you to visit once. Wear your best double knit leisure suit as you're transported back to the Brady Bunch era. There's ample parking in the rear, but mind the incline - don't fall off the edge! The music in the store is quite loud - well at least it was the day I was there.

Yelp
Are you a collector of Ephemera? Do you like Rock Art Posters? Do you like to rep KC on your office or man cave walls? Maybe you're the old fashioned type that loves to send a letter on cool stationary, holiday cards or a frameable postcard? Hammerpress is the place to be and indulge. The retail side of this design studio and print maker is first rate and always has something new to add to my crazy collections or as a wonderful gift for the hipsters, nerds and lovers of all things KC in my life. Another original gem in this city that deserves continued success.

Yelp
I like this place a lot, it just needs way more variety and inventory and more from other makers. Plenty of space wasted selling non-creative shlock.

Lawrence B.

Yelp
During my first visit to Kansas City MO I stopped into Boulevard Brewing for some beer and snacks. (You will find my review of Boulevard elsewhere--wonderful place!) I was taken by the beautiful letterpress posters on the wall and learned they were from the nearby Hammerpress. Of course I had to buy one! When I back home to Tacoma I visited the Hammerpress website and found all sorts of wonderful letterpress items, including greeting cards and wrapping paper. I am now an addict! Not only do they have wonderful products but they are very efficient and fast shippers! Thank you Hammerpress!

Anthony C.

Yelp
For paper, ink and pen junkies, this is your crack house. I nearly fainted with glee as I cross the threshold of Hammerpress. New to town, I felt like I'd found my very own clubhouse. This is first and foremost a working press with three incredibly cool machines whirling, stamping and inking out beautiful creations--posters, cards and other paper productions. Secondly it's an aesthetically pleasing place with concrete floors and bronze wood with amber shining vintage light fixtures. It sells pens, ink, staplers, stationary, candles and assorted other items. I left with two bags of goodies. I'll be back. Nearby Lulu's Thai Noodle Shop will sate your appetite. These businesses are the reason I'm loving my new hometown. Call me a Kansas Citian!

Lorina D.

Yelp
I was drawn in by this beautifully designed lettering store. I mean just look at the window! It was during their artwalk and it was open, people were hanging out and chatting as others would be shopping. It was a fun community in there. They have a window too that you can see through to the lettering machines they use

Dustin W.

Yelp
Beautiful space. Support local shops everyone please! If you're spending $$ on cards it should be here, not at a chain retailer! High quality work, love the KC pieces.

Yelp
Hammerpress is a KC institution, and a Crossroads Arts District anchor. Their new space is a perfect evolution of their brand and service, and everyone should check it out! Nestled in the lower floor of a rescued Mid-Century office building just a little further south of their old location, Hammerpress' new showroom looks almost 3 times as large as their prior offering. What I particularly appreciate is that the rustic aesthetic of their products and offerings is a nice juxtaposition to the Mid-Century Modern cleanliness of design the building has. Both of which continue Hammerpress' own technique of layering historical textures into their brand. I'm looking forward to what else they cook up down there in their new place, and continue growing as a Kansas City landmark, both in location and style!

Sadie L.

Yelp
I am a fan of prints so walking into this studio/shop was a treat for me. It is really cool to see people working in the back as you look around the store. Reasonable prices and they also provide screen printing workshops.

Azile Y.

Yelp
Love this place. They make amazing prints: beautiful and high quality. And the kind of greeting cards that are too precious to send to people, so you just want to decorate with them!

Heidi W.

Yelp
NIce selection of gift and personal items. New things frequently. Good place to shop for solid quality at the full range of price points for the pragmatic and creative recipient. The new space is beautiful, too. Great energy!
