The Henson Is the Stylish New Boutique Hotel in the Catskills Offering Fine Dining Inspired by Its Natural Surroundings | Vogue

"From 2015 until 2021, Hammo’s was a brewpub and lodge in the 159-year-old structure that now houses The Henson. It was known for its bar, and guests often stayed in the rooms above for $50 a night." - David Graver

This place is lovely. Charming, cozy, clean. It has comfy beds and pleasant workers and stayers. A great pool table in the lounge room to the side. But there is a strong scent that hits you in the face when you walk-in. The smell also lingered in our room (rm#18) which my partner felt was our bathroom. We kept our windows opened the entire time as a way to fumigate the smell. Our friends who stayed in another room did not have any smells. Not sure if it's the cleaning products they use or just bad, old pipes. The walls are very thin. Could almost make out peoples conversations in the room next door, and hear all the movement above. Since this is a pet friendly lodge there was a dog staying above us. Poor thing paced back and forth all night.. and poor us because we couldn't get much sleep. Why would you allow someone with a pet to stay on the top floor and not the other way around??

A little old fashioned but it's convenient and a good value. Very easy check in/out and a nice selection of local bagels for breakfast. The heat was off in my room, it was maybe 45° inside when I arrived. It was cozy once I adjusted the three separate ambiguous thermostats in the room, it was unclear which one was relevant.

We had a spontaneous get away and came across this amazing place. The rooms are spacious and cozy. Very clean and beautiful balcony for all front facing rooms. I highly reccomend this lodge especially if you have a furry friend with you! Service was decent we didnt need much so they left us alone which was cool felt like we rented our own private house. We didn't wanna leave from how relaxing and peaceful it is. Cant wait to go back!!

I stayed overnight two nights here and the first thing I noticed when I got into bed is the sheets are absolutely filthy. Crumbs everywhere in bed. Also the hand soap in the bathroom was filled with water instead of soap which is such a cheap move. It’s dog friendly but there is only one trash can outside in the front. There’s not a big fenced in area for dogs outside, just a very tiny part of the lot. Also, they put us directly next to big dogs in a huge vacant hotel who were barking so loud. The walls are paper thin! There was also NO AIR CONDITIONING in the summer!! We had to specifically call and ask to be moved to a room with an air conditioner! Also there is no one at the desk EVER. The only good thing about this place was it’s cute character, and the fact that they welcome dogs.

We Look Forward to Staying at the Hammo’s Again Soon! My Husband and I stayed here this October with our Dog Sherry and had a lovely time! We were going to the Oktoberfest Doxie Derby at Hunter Mountain, which was a quick & scenic 10-15 min drive to the festivities. Service & Staff: FANTASTIC. They were friendly and helpful and flexible and very accommodating with check-in & check-out times. Joanne, the Inn Keeper was great every step of the experience. She was particularly wonderful when we left a few jackets in the room after checkout. We called and spoke with her the next day and she immediately overnighted them to us (at her cost) with a lovely personal asking us to confirm we received the package. She really went above and beyond. Location: Great - scenic, centrally located with great dining options in very close walking distance to the Inn. The Room: Well appointed, clean & comfortable. We also enjoyed in-room access to a lovely, LARGE shared porch on the second floor. Porch had several chairs and mini tables for us to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Our puppy REALLY loved the porch and enjoyed running back and forth, as well sitting outside watching the squirrels / animal life and people passing by. Common Area & Pub: Great game/billiard room and Keurig coffee, bottles of water and granola bar-style snacks always available for the guests. Muffins & pastries were also placed out in the dining / lobby area in the Morning. Although we did not get a chance to have a full meal at the pubstaurant, we did have a drink and some wings at the on Saturday afternoon and they were quite tasty. Thank you Hammo’s for a lovely stay, we look forward to staying with you again soon!

Amazing food, staff and atmosphere. Not "pub food" at all!! Great craft beers on tap. Well rounded crowd from the older to young skiiers/snowboarders. Imaginative yet delicious variety of Mac & cheese. Huge burgers. Delicious fish fry. Vegetarian friendly options. Kid friendly. Wish I found this place sooner!!

I can't give enough stars to this place, so just let me say, it's a brewpub with their own hand crafted small batch beer and delicious food within 5 minutes of the base at Windham. Dog friendly - not just dog tolerant, but dog lovers. Beautiful historic lodging. Run by the nicest people you can imagine. Really, what more could you want?

The walls were very thin that we could hear even the breath of people in the next room. The wooden flooring was also not that good. But the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. They provided coffee and fruits for breakfast, which were good. I would hesitate to go there again.
