Our honest experience at the Hampton by Hilton Hamburg City Centre. We arrived late, a little after 11 PM, due to a train delay. When we got to the hotel, we found the doors locked, which is understandable for a city centre location at that hour.
At check-in, there were two staff members. One was a lady who was polite enough, but the other was a large man who came across as quite rude and gave off a very unpleasant, even racist vibe. That was certainly not the welcome we were hoping for.
The hotel itself is clean, which we appreciated, but there was no refrigerator in the room, a surprise for a Hilton. When I asked about it, they told me to bring my items downstairs if I needed them refrigerated. Instead of a fridge, we got a garbage bag filled with ice, which felt really subpar for a hotel experience.
Breakfast the next morning was also disappointing. Everything had a strange smell, almost fishy or eggy, and it just wasn’t appetizing.
The one bright spot was Samantha, a reception staff member we spoke to in the morning, who was extremely polite and professional. She was really the highlight in terms of service.
Overall, after great service experiences in Barcelona, Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam, this hotel fell short. Other than Samantha’s kindness, it was not a pleasant stay. Unfortunately, I’d have to rate it quite low.
