My husband and I found this Hampton Inn to be very average, and less than we have come to expect from Hampton. We were in El Paso for 4 nights, during which time I stayed at the hotel while he attended a conference during the day. On the positive side-the room was decent size, the bed was comfortable, and I was pleased to see an organic cereal option on their free breakfast. As for the negatives, the building could use some updating, the staff could be friendlier, and the pool area could definitely use some improvements. Also, the milk at breakfast was always room-temperature, so it would have been nice had they had it in a machine or refrigerator. In addition, the "happy hour" snacks, wine, and punch/Kool-Aid was always gone when we passed through the lobby during times that it was supposed to be offered. Also, since I was in the room when housekeeping cleaned each day, I found that after changing the bedding, they spray a bottle of strongly-scented chemicals to make it smell "fresh/clean" in the room. These chemicals were sprayed on the fresh bedding, which shouldn't have needed to be doused in a clean-smelling solution if they used quality detergent when washing the linens, in my opinion. Another gripe I had was that at one point I was using a computer located in the lobby when the employees began loudly yelling back and forth at each other first in Spanish, and then in English, about politics. This was in front of me and other hotel guests, which I find unacceptable. The employees here don't seem to care about making a comfortable environment for their guests, which was also shown in their decision to begin cleaning the outside windows, spraying cleaner everywhere right behind a table I was sitting at in the pool area, trying to enjoy my breakfast. After the wind blew their cleaning solution all over my breakfast, I decided to just finish the email I was reading on my phone while they continued cleaning, but another employee came back to the area and began moving all the outdoor furniture to right up next to where I was sitting, without saying a word to me. You can definitely tell this place isn't concerned with making their guests feel comfortable and welcome, and I would definitely look elsewhere.
